CHAPTER 1⚔️2
Evelyn was washing her hand in the basin.She had just gotten back from a mission and this was her usual practice everytime she got back from a mission.She make sure she cleans her hand and that there was no blood stain on her.This was her way of saying that she knew nothing about the victim’s death.
“I was only following orders so I hope you don’t haunt me instead haunt those who sent me”said Evelyn as she walked out of the bathroom.
She picked a towel and used it to wipe her face and her arms.She threw herself on the bed and closed her eyes.She recalled the face of the man she killed and she felt sad.She brought out her gun and she kissed it .
“Cherrie, we aren’t at fault, right?.We were only following orders and it wasn’t like we had a choice”said Evelyn starting at her gun.Cherrie was the name shr gave to her gun.It had been hers ever since she joins the gang and she had a special attachment with it.She found it hard to go on mission without it infact she never went on any mission without it.It was crazy that she was speaking to a gun but she has no one to talk to.
Thinking of her life so far,the only time she was happy was when she was in highschool but ever since she joined the gang her happiness had vanished.
A knock sounded at the door and she got up quickly holding tightly onto cherrie.
“Who is it?”asked Evelyn as she moved towards the door.
“Scar sent for you.He said you should come with me now”said the voice at the door.Wondering who scar was,scar was her dad’s nickname.
She was sure he called her for a mission asides that her dad never sees her let alone talk to her.
“You can leave.I will be there in a jiffy.”said Evelyn and she heard resounding footsteps of the person leaving her door.
She packed her hair in bun and left her room heading to her father’s office.
A man in his late fifties sat on a chair as he popped up cigarettes in his hands.He was looking so dangerous and one would know that he was either a mafia or a gang leader.Well he was both and also he was Evelyn’s dad, Sylvester.
Evelyn entered and met her father smoking.She squeezed her face in disgust as she moved closer to him.
“Am here,Scar”said Evelyn as she bowed slightly.She had stomach referring to him as her father after he made her join the gang.To him,she was just a tool and to her,he was just her master.
“Take a look at this pictures and informations.Make sure you study every detail of it because that’s your next mission”said Scar as he threw a file at Evelyn.
Evelyn picked it up and checked out the pictures.Shr was captured in the beauty of the face and most especially the green emerald eyes.It felt like something in those eyes were calling her.
“He is Charles Brooklyn. I attended an assassin gang meeting yesterday and his details were given out.Every assassin group is watching out for him since there is a very high pay from whosoever succeeds.You’ve never failed me so I am counting on you.”said Scar as he stared at her.
“How long are you giving me to eliminate him?”asked Evelyn.
“We were given six months but am giving you just three months which I think is more than enough.Sketch a good plan to get him and make sure you kill him when you get close to him.”said Scar while she not as she made her way out.
“Evelyn!”Scar called and she turned.”Make sure you come back safe.He is a dangerous guy and many have died while in the quest to kill him.”said Scar and Evelyn’s eyes widened.
She couldn’t believe her dad still cared about her without a second thought she ran into his arms hugging him tightly.
“I promise to come back safe,dad”said Evelyn as she pulled away from the hug.Shr hadn’t hugged her dad in years and she felt so happy to be in his arms.
“You have to because there are still many missions I need you to tend to and with the way things are you will the best person for the job.”said Scar shattering the joy in Evelyn’s heart.
She moved away from him as tears enveloped her eyes.She was so foolish to believe he still had a little fatherly love left for her.
Without saying anything she last his office running to her room.
