Charles stared at her speechlessly and sighed.He felt like it was high time they clarify things between them but he was somehow angry that she had to bring it up at the time.
“Must we be something for me to get the answer?”asked Charles
“Yes”Evelyn simply replied
“If I tell you I want us to be more than friends,if I say I am in love with you,if I confess my feelings to you,if I ask you to be my girlfriend,tell me Eve will you say yes?”asked Charles.
He was sure his feelings weren’t one-sided but he felt like she might reject him if he asked her out.That had been his greatest fear and he had kept it to himself.He had loved being just friends with her even though he wanted to be more because of the fear of being rejected. He somehow felt he wasn’t good enough for her.
Evelyn’s heart pounded hardly against her chest.She knew he liked her but she wasn’t prepared to here it at least not any time soon.There was no way she was going to angry.He is too perfect to be with a lady like her whose life was full of scars and hidden pain and whose hands were stained with innocent blood.
“Answer my question,Eve.I want to have the right to ask those questions and also have my jealousy and anger justified.i want to have the right to hit him in his face a thousand times and make him bleed anytime he lay his hands on you.I want to kiss you and hold you in my arms without been questioned by anyone but to do all of these we have to be something and I have to begin a journey with you. So tell me Eve,will you let me begin?”asked Charles as tears welled in his eyes.
“No,don’t begin.I won’t let you begin”said Evelyn as she moved back.Her years were fighting to get out of her eyes but she was trying hard to hold it back.
“Why?Why wouldn’t you let me begin?.Am I not good enough?Is it because am a monster?Or Is it because of him?Are you in love with him?Tell me why??”yelled Charles as his tears poured slowly.His heart was shattering into pieces and his chest twitched in pain.
He couldn’t believe he got rejected. To be sincere,it was the first time he got rejected.
“No,Charlie.The problem lies with me,I am not good enough for you.You deserve someone better.Please don’t force me to go against my decision and let things just go back to how they were.”said Evelyn as she rushed out of the study and headed to her room.
She held her chest tightly and rested her back on the door as she slipped to the floor slowly weeping quietly.
Her phone rang and she picked it up and wiped off her tears.
“Hello,who is this?”she said and there’s a shallow laugh from the other side.Her eyes widened as she realized who it was. It was her father,Scar and she needed no one to tell her who it was.
“It’s been a month already since I handed over the mission to you and I haven’t heard or seen any positive result but have been hearing somethings I don’t want to believe.Dont forget your identity,you are the killing angel,a notorious assassin and you are currently on a mission.I hope that awakened your sense and you don’t dare to mess with me.You know how ruthless I am”said Scar from the other end.
“Am sorry,Scar but just give me half a month more”said Evelyn.
“No problem,the time I gave you haven’t elasped anyway.I was just surprised that you were taking longer than usual so I thought you got distracted by other things”said Scar as he ended the call while Evelyn sighed as slow tears dropped down her cheeks.
That was her dad,he never waits to listen to her or know if she had any difficulties while handling the mission.All he cares about was that the mission was accomplished.Her inner self got awakened and Scar’s words rang in her ears.
She shouldn’t have been in love with him in the first place.She should have just focused on her mission and killed him when she had the chance but she was swayed away by the goodness of the moment and she forgot her identity.
She was just a bloody assassin and she doesn’t deserve to be happy but she thought she could live like a normal human and fall in love but love wasn’t meant for her in the first place.
She stood up and her eyes hardened.She was an assassin and love shouldn’t stand on her way.She had just half a month which was 15days and she made up her mind to eliminate Charles before then though she doubt that she would be able to but she still wanted to.
Charles held his chest as he wept in his study.He knew no one would want to be with him because of his monstrous side but he still hoped that she would be different and just accept him how he was.He felt wronged and his heart ached……
