Chapter Fifteen
Jasmine was seated in class reading quietly, while Daisy was chatting with some students she made as friends, then Daisy excused herself and moved to where Jasmine was.
“Hello, Jasmine”.She said and Jasmine raised her face to her.
“Hi, Fiona–sorry, I mean Daisy”.She said.
“Good, just came to check up on you and to see how you are enjoying your new home”.She said unfriendly. Isabella story don’t copy.
“Fine”.She said.”I love my new family and they are amazing people”.
“Oh really?”.She scoffs.”That’s too bad, but anyway enjoy your exchange of life”.She laughed in mockery and walked away. Isabella story don’t copy. Jasmine sighed after her and continued reading, and then one of the students entered to look for Jasmine.
“Jasmine, the principal sent for you in his office”.He said and walked away. Jasmine stood up and left for the principal office.
“Good day, sir”.She said politely and the principal asked her to sit down.”Thank you, sir”.
“I sent for you because there is something I want to tell you, I have good news and bad news for you,” He said, and Jasmine panicked.
“Is there a problem sir?”.She asked.
“Not really, but I will go with the good news, the good news is that your scholarship still stands”.He said and Jasmine sighed in relief. He continued. Isabella story don’t copy. “But the bad news is that there have been a few changes, you can no longer get free food at the canteen, wh@tëver you buy you will have to pay for it”.He added and Jasmine was shocked. Buying food in the canteen was very expensive and she can’t afford it now that she is no longer wealthy like before.”Do you understand?”.
“Sorry, if you don’t mind, may I ask why?”.
“Yes, the school authority had a meeting, and considering you are no longer the daughter of Mr.George they have to make some adjustments and to limit their spending on you”.He said and tears filled Jasmine’s eyes.
“Is ok sir, I totally understand, can I go now?”.She asked.
“Sure”.He said and she stood up and left his office.
Desmond was walking by when he saw her coming out from the principal office as she leaned on the wall trying to control her tears, Isabella story don’t copy, then she left to the restroom to clean herself up.

Later at home, She was lost in thought as she barely touched her food, and her family stared at her.
“Jasmine, is everything ok?”.Mrs.Lucia asked jolting her out of her thought.
“Yes, Mom”.She sighed.
“You don’t look like one, is something bothering you?”.Mr.James asked.
“Is it about school? Did something happen?”.Grandma Alma asked.
“Come on family, am fine, nothing happened in school, am just thinking about our test tomorrow”.She lied.
“Really?”.
“Yes Mom, is nothing, so don’t worry”.
“Ok, but eat your food”.Mr.James said.
“Sure”.She smiled and started eating.

The next day, Jasmine walked into the school compound, she was pretty late today because she had to think all night and refused to tell her family what happened, Isabella story don’t copy, she didn’t want to stress any of them, but before she left the house, her father gave her some pocket money in case she needs to buy something, though the money won’t be enough to attain water in her school, she uses it to buy some cheap snack on her way to school. Immediately she entered the school corridor she was shocked to see her best friend with some other students talking and smiling with Daisy, she stood confusedly staring at Olivia, and immediately their eyes met, Olivia looked away and excused herself to the restroom. Isabella story don’t copy. Although there have been a few changes in Olivia’s behavior toward Jasmine, she ignored her texts and even blocked her number which made Jasmine confused and wonder why. She sighed and left for the restroom to talk with Olivia.
“Can we talk?”.Jasmine asked and Olivia was avoiding her gaze.
“There is nothing to talk about Jasmine”.She said.
“There is, since yesterday you have been avoiding me and you even ignore my text messages, and I can’t even reach you anymore, did you block me from your contact list?”.She asked and Olivia was quiet.”Answer me, Olivia?”.
“Am sorry Jasmine, I can’t be friends with you anymore”.She said and Jasmine was surprised.
“Excuse me, what did you say?”.
“You heard me Jasmine, we can’t be friends anymore, I can’t be seen with you, everyone laughed at me, calling me all sorts of annoying names because I am being friends with a commoner”.She said bluntly and Jasmine was hurt by her words.
“A commoner? Is that what I am to you now? Just because I don’t have rich parents anymore?”.She asked sadly. Isabella story don’t copy.
“My parents warned me to stay clear away from you since you are no longer the daughter of the George family”.She said.
“Really? That’s why?”.She sighed sadly.”I thought you were my best friend, we have known each other right from kindergarten and this is how you will end our friendship because I am no longer the wealthy man’s daughter, so, this means you were only friends with me because of my background?”.She asked sadly and Daisy interrupted them from behind.
“You heard her right”.She said unlikely and Jasmine turned to her to see her with the rest girls.”You don’t force friendship, the young girl is tired of you, allow her to choose a new one”.She said Isabella story don’t copy. “Olivia is my friend now, you are no longer in the same world, you are different from all of us in this school, you should be thankful that you are still here because of the scholarship, so, don’t feel too high of yourself”.She said and exhaled.”Come on Olivia, let go before you get contaminated by her poor lifestyle”.She said and they walked away.
Jasmine stared at herself in the mirror and let out a deep sigh as she tried controlling her tears.
“Don’t Jasmine, don’t waste your precious tears on non-relevant things, she not worth your tears, she was never your friend, so, let it go and be you”.She said to herself in the mirror. Then she washed her face, cleaned it up, and left the restroom.
An hour later, during the lunch break, everywhere was rowdy with students chatting and eating together. Desmond looked around the hall to see Jasmine was not among the students, Isabella story don’t copy, but he was surprised to see Olivia eating with Daisy and he was confused.
“Are you looking for someone?”.Jake asked.
“No”.he lied.”I am just wondering how Daisy got some friends so quickly”.He said.
“What do you expect, she is your twin and everyone wants to be with her”.Nathan said.
“You should be happy for her, she is getting popular by the day and look Jasmine’s friend Olivia is also with her”.Jake said.
“That’s why I am confused”.Desmond said and then everyone cell’s phone made a beep and they brought out their phone to see what messages appeared on their phones
They were surprised to see a short video of Olivia ending her friendship with Jasmine, it turns out Daisy asked someone to make the video and post it on the school site, Isabella story don’t copy. she added a little lie to it to make all the blame go to Jasmine. Desmond was shocked by it and everyone was murmuring about it and even making a mockery of it.
“She is boosted. She won’t finish here with us with all these comments, she will hæte herself for this, now she is lonely”.Jake said.
“That’s why she is not in the canteen, maybe she is embarrassed”.Nathan said and they laughed except for Desmond.
Meanwhile, Jasmine was on the school roof enjoying her lunch, she saw the video on the page and she ignored it as long as she was not guilty of the allegations.
