βI did promise, but I never said I was gonna keep it,β Blueberry stated.
βWhat?!β Devyn exclaimed, unable to believe it.
βYou should eat something before it gets cold,β Blueberry said, heading to where he kept the food. He took it without even glancing at her and left the kitchen for the dining area.
He began eating slowly. Just then, Devyn entered and sat down next to him.
βBerry, itβs a joke, right? Tell me youβre joking,β She pleaded, and Blueberry raised his head to look at her.
βIt wasnβt,β he replied, and she ran her hand through her hair, appearing frustrated. She didnβt know what to say, so she stood up.
βArenβt you eating?β he asked, watching her, sensing her desire to leave. She stopped and faced him directly, her brows furrowed.
βIβm not interested,β she said and walked into her room. Blueberry stared at her for a while, then continued eating his food. He stopped, and his mind drifted to the K!SS they had shared.
βWhatβs wrong with me? Is Mu Yul responsible for this? Wait, did I really fail to keep my promise? When did these feelings start? Have I watched so many series that Iβve lost my mind?β He pondered.
βRegardless of the cause, Iβve told her how I felt tonight,β he mumbled, standing up. He cleared the table and left for his room. He lay on his bed, contemplating what her last wish might be. Meanwhile, Devyn, on the other hand, diverted her thoughts from the earlier events and slowly succvmbed to sleep.
β
βDad, why do you h@tΓ« me so much? What did I ever do to deserve this?β Felixβs tiny voice cried out, and a slap landed on his face.
βYou killed your motherβ¦ You killed my wife. It would have been better if you had died and she had lived. You bring bad luck,β His dad shouted. That had always been the caseβhis dad h@tΓ«d him intensely and blamed him for his motherβs death. The fact that his mother died during childbirth was his only crime.
βDad,β Felix cried, but his dad dragged him to the basement, which was dark and filled with fear.
βI h@tΓ« seeing your face,β his dad said and left the basement, locking up his only 12-year-old son.
βDad!!β Felix shouted.
βDad, dadβ¦ Dad!! Please donβt leave me here,β Mu Yul screamed from his sleep as his eyes flew open. He began P@Εting heavily as beads of sweat formed on his forehead.
βWho was that?β he muttered.
β
JAYDENβS MANSION
The employees werenβt that drunk, but they were screaming.
Cecilia couldnβt afford to drink alcohol since she had never had one before. She believed it made one look like a fool, so she only drank juice. She was scared of getting drunk in another manβs house.
Coming here wasnβt comfortable either, but she was in no spot to say no because of her colleagues.
Her slightly drunk colleagues were dancing funnily as she watched them enjoying themselves with the music playing. Cherry, Jaydenβs secretary, kept staring h@tΓ«fully at Cecilia.
βI h@tΓ« her. How dare she flirt with Jayden?β she said in her head with an angry expression until she heard her name.
She turned to see her boss. Jayden walked over to her while she stood on her feet.
βIs there anything you want me to do, Sir?β Cherry asked, and Jayden leaned closer to her ear and whispered a few words to her. Her eyes widened.
βWhat? You want toβ¦β Cherry couldnβt complete her statement when Jayden quickly shushed her. Gently, she nodded. Jayden smiled and left her as he went to meet Cecilia.
βHey,β he said and sat next to her.
βHey.β
βYou donβt look happy,β Jayden said.
βIβm a mom, you know. I have never been in another personβs house at this time of the day. Iβm not used to it,β she said. But their conversation was interrupted when a few of the employees came to them.
βHey, Cecilia, youβre the birthday girl, yet you havenβt tasted any wine. Thatβs boring. Since youβve been working at the company, itβs either coffee or fruit juice. Life isnβt that serious, okay? It doesnβt hurt to have a taste of life because we only have one life to live,β one of the employees said, putting a glass in front of Cecilia and pouring wine into it.
βMiss Cassandra, I donβtβ¦β
βYou should try it out. Itβs so good. It makes you forget about the bad memories and also makes you feel stronger,β Cassandra said, cutting Cecilia off as she handed Cecilia the cup of wine to have a taste.
β Can yβall excuse us? β Jayden faced the employees and they bowed before walking to another spot. Jayden faced Cecilia with the aim of taking the glass from her, but she stopped him.
βI will, itβs my birthday after all. Itβs the first time Iβll be celebrating something like this. If I knew it was going to be like this, I would have declined and stayed at home with my daughter,β she smiled sadly and drank the glass of wine.
βIt doesnβt taste bad,β she muttered, taking the bottle as she poured herself another glass.
βYouβll get drunk,β Jayden cautioned and made to take the glass from her again, but she slapped his hands off.
β
MARVINβS RESIDENCE (NEXT DAY)
The boys had finished their morning voice training and entered the sitting room, looking exhausted.
βOur short break will be over today, and next week is the audition for the beginner class to show their talent and get promoted to the silver class,β Alistair said.
βWhy would all of us be chosen to rate the students when there are teachers?β Sweetheart asked.
βThatβs because weβre the best, and I have a photoshoot to attend tomorrow for Lidel magazine,β Alistair replied.
βThatβs true, how could I forget something thatβs so important to you?β Rema wondered aloud.
βYou always forget,β the other chorus chimed in.
βShould we go to Devynβs place?β Valerie asked, and the boys turned to face him swiftly. Nash raised an eyebrow.
βYouβre becoming impatient, but of course, letβs leave this house for a while. Iβll go get ready,β Nash said and turned to Maikel.
βYou should get ready too,β he smiled, while Maikel frowned. Nash playfully hit Maikelβs shoulder before walking into his own room.
βSomething smells fishy,β Ian muttered, staring at Maikel.
βShould we find out?β Sweetheart, who overheard Ian, asked. Ian nodded without realizing it.
βMaybe we should,β Rema also chimed in, which made Ian stare at them, wondering how they heard him.
βDonβt worry, weβve got the ears of an alien,β Sweetheart and Rema assured him. Soon enough, the boys all left to freshen up.
β
INFIRMARY
Elviraβs fingers were the first to move, and slowly, her eyes fluttered open. Her vision was still blurry, so she closed her eyes again.
βYouβre awake?β she heard, and she gently opened her eyes to see Miss Rachel seated next to her. She looked around to see if she would spot her twin, but only Zora was there.
βElvire and Harriet will be coming, Iβve been checking and Iβm sure theyβll come today, so donβt worry,β Miss Rachel said, and she turned to Zora.
βGo get the doctor,β she said, and Zora nodded and left the ward.
βWeβll have to talk after youβ¦β her phone interrupted her, and she reached for it. She was surprised to see it was Nash calling.
βDid something happen?β Miss Rachel wondered as she picked up the call.
π± Good morning, maβam. Can I get Devyn Hanβs address? Nash asked from the other end.
Miss Rachel chuckled.
π± I thought something serious had happened. Iβve heard. You should be careful out there, and I wonβt let the manager know about it.
π± Youβre the best. I love you, muahβ Nash said, and Miss Rachel shook her head before ending the call.
After the audition with the beginner class, the boys would all leave the school, and those in the silver class would also depart. No doubt sheβll miss the boys, and she wished such a day wouldnβt come.
She smiled slightly and turned to Elvira, who was now eating with Zoraβs help.
π ELVIRA IS AWAKE AND FINE NOW. YOU SHOULD COME PICK HER UP. She sent an immediate message to Elvire.
β
JAYDENβS MANSION
Ceciliaβs eyes flew open all at once. The cologne in the room was unfamiliar, it was manly, and she immediately scanned her surroundings. It wasnβt her room.
βWhere am I?β she wondered, and her head throbbed so intensely that she had to hold it tightly. She grumbled for a few seconds before releasing her head.
She looked down at herself and noticed that she was still wearing her clothes.
βWTF,β she mumbled, remembering that she got drunk last night. The door to the room opened, revealing Jayden.
βYouβre awake,β he said, while she nodded slowly, getting out of bed. Jayden placed the food on the stand near the bed.
βIβll drive you home when youβre done,β He said, and before she could respond, he left the room.
She sighed and stared at the food on the stand.
βWe can only be best buddies. Iβll gladly accept that because Berry said so,β she muttered, taking her phone to call her daughter.
β
DEVYNβS HOME
Devynβs mom had already called her and asked her to prepare a few dishes for their meal when she returned. Devyn left her room and immediately encountered Berry, who had just left the kitchen. He was shirtless, wearing only trousers.
Her eyes scanned his perfect body, his enticing packs and then his face. She immediately turned away, but he remained still, staring back at her.
βWhy is he Ζ@kΔΙ?β she wondered in her head.
βAre you nervous or perhaps shy because youβre seeing me without a shirt?β he asked, and she faced him.
βWhy would I be nervous or shy? Itβs not appropriate to be like this around a girl,β Devyn replied sharply and walked away to the dining area to get some water. She was feeling somewhat warm, so she wanted to quench her thirst. Blueberry shook his head.
βBeing shirtless isnβt appropriate when thereβs a girl around?β he asked, but she didnβt reply.
βYet you saw me Ζ@kΔΙ on the first day we met. You saw everythingβ¦ My ΔΓ―Δk. I think Iβm the first guy who lost his dignity in front of a girl. Gosh, I feel so ashamed right now,β He said, and Devyn choked.
βWeβll have plenty of guests today, so when youβre ready, Iβll come help you in the kitchen,β he said, and then he went to his room. Devyn faced the door to his room.
βWhy the FΕ―Γ§Ζ did he bring that up? Gosh, I canβt believe that night either,β she muttered and headed to the kitchen.
β
SUNSHINE RESIDENT
βItβs been quiet ever since the incident with Elvira,β Honesty said as the four girls sat together, engrossed in their phones.
βIβve made up my mind. I donβt want to be against βBEAUTIESβ anymore because in a weekβs time, weβll all be leaving Camp Music High β Emerald said, and Gemma faced her.
βWhat do you mean?β Gemma asked.
βWeβre going to make peace with them. Weβre going to be friends with them because Iβm sure we wonβt need to compete anymore,β Harriet said.
βI support that, though,β Belinda replied.
βWh@tΓ«ver,β Honesty and Gemma said simultaneously, rolling their eyes.
β
The house was full, as Blueberry had mentioned. Devyn was surprised to see Marvins in her home. How the hell did they get her home address?
Lesley also walked in, followed by Mu Yul. They both stopped and stared at each other.
βYouβve come this far, all thanks to Devyn and my Berry,β Mu Yul said. βYou might think I donβt see you, but right from the very beginning, I knew you were just a dead being in a human body.β Mu Yul smiled and walked over to Blueberry. Lesley stood on her spot not able to move a leg
βI think Iβm getting my memory back gradually. My name isnβt Mu Yul after all,β he said, and Blueberry stared at him.
βWe should talk when theyβre all gone, or probably tomorrow at school,β He said, and Mu Yul nodded.
βAnd you shouldnβt have looked so serious in front of her; itβs going to make her scared,β Blueberry said as he led Mu Yul to a seat.
βAre we celebrating something I donβt know about?β Devyn wondered and walked over to where Marvins were.
βHey,β she said.
βWow, you look extra beautiful today,β Sweetheart commented, but he stopped and ran away when he saw Blueberry. Berry hugged him tightly.
βBrother,β Sweetheart said in the hug. Blueberry patted his back gently before disengaging from the hug.
βI missed you,β Sweetheart whined, and Blueberry playfully flicked his forehead.
βIβll go get you something to eat,β Blueberry said, and he nodded. He walked over to his brothers and told them about the food. He pulled Ian and Rema with him as they sat at the dining table.
βYou look good,β Nash said to Devyn as he pulled Alistair and Maikel away, leaving Valerie and Devyn behind.
βHey,β Valerie said, and she smiled.
βCan I have a few minutes of your time?β he asked, and Devyn thought for a while before nodding. She led the way to her room and closed the door behind them. She faced him.
Valerieβs eyes scanned the room and landed on a photo of himself and her. It was taken by his mom. He also had a copy of it.
βYou said you wanted to talk to me. If itβs about the past, Iβve forgotten about it and Iβve forgiven you,β she said, and he approached her.
βI know itβs been 13 years,β he paused, and she looked him in the eye.
βFor these past years, if you asked how many times youβve crossed my mind, Iβd say just once,β he said, and she raised a brow.
βHuh?β
Valerie held her shoulders as they locked gazes.
βYes, Devyn, thatβs because since the very first time you crossed my mind, youβve never really left,β he said with so much passion in his eyes. She blinked twice and shifted from his grip.
βI care about you, and I donβt feel good about it, but nothing is going to happen between us,β Devyn said, and Valerie raised a brow.
βWhy?β he asked.
βBecause we both lost something. You lost me, and I lost time,β Devyn replied, while Valerie swallowed hard. Devyn turned to the door as she made to open it.
βEven if itβs a rejection, Iβll always love you, Devyn, cos you were my first and even nowβ he voiced out, his voice sounding as if there was a lump in his throat. Devyn was taken aback, and she slowly turned to him. She stared at him for a long time, then swallowed hard.
βKelvin, itβs been years already, and Iβm no longer the 6-year-old kid you first met, okay? So please, love someone else, because you deserve someone who loves you with every single bit of her heart,β she said gently, and right there, tears welled down Valerieβs cheek as he watched her leave the room slowly.
