“W-what?” Mu Yul stuttered, not believing his ears.

13 YEARS AGO

“Doctor, what do you mean? You can’t tell me my baby is dead, she’s all I have,” Cecilia, who had just rushed little Devyn to the hospital, cried out.

“She’s just six and couldn’t endure the pain… I’m sorry we couldn’t save your little girl,” the doctor said. Devyn’s soul stood beside her body, crying.

“Mom, why can’t I touch me? Why am I two? What is wrong with me?” Her tiny voice came out, but no one could hear her.

She was still crying when she heard a voice from beside her.

“Little one, why are you crying?” The person asked while Devyn sniffed and walked to the woman who was dressed in black. Devyn held the hem of her clothes and resumed crying.

“My mom, she can’t touch me, she doesn’t hear me when I call out to her, and why am I two?” She wept, and the woman bent down to her level and wiped away her tears.

“Nothing happened, okay? You only stopped yourself from feeling the pain you were feeling earlier… or did you like it?” The woman asked, and she shook her head.

“Then, let’s go because you don’t belong here. Let’s go to where there’ll be no more pain, okay?” The woman said, and she sniffed. She nodded gently and held the woman’s hand.

” Who are you, anyway? How can you see me when everyone else can’t?” She asked as the woman led her away.

“Me? I’m Yeomra, someone who will take you to a place where you’ll feel no pain,” Yeomra said, and Devyn looked back only to see her mom crying seriously.

“But I don’t want to be far from mom… she’ll be lonely, she might kill herself,” She said in tears. Her tears halted and she looked at Yeomra. “Don’t tell me I’m dead? Like I won’t be seeing my mom again?” Her tiny voice spoke up, and Yeomra sighed.

When Devyn noticed the look on Yeomra’s face, she left Yeomra’s hand and ran towards her mom, who was still in tears.

“Mom, tell me I’m not dead… please, I can’t die,” she wept greatly this time, before running back to Yeomra.

She held her legs and wept.

“Please save me,” she cried, and Yeomra felt kinda pity for the poor kid. She sighed heavily, thinking of what she could do to help out.

“What can you do?” She asked.

“I can sing, should I sing for you?” She sniffed while Yeomra sighed again.

“Will you be able to tackle the humiliation ahead?” Yeomra wondered. She carried Devyn and took her to her body, she made her lie on it.

“It’s our bargain… I’ll bear the consequences and keep your voice. A day after you fulfill your dreams, I’ll come back for your soul,” Yeomra said. Devyn, who didn’t know what to say, nodded in agreement, and immediately she did, her physical eyes opened, shocking the doctors.

“Why are you telling me that now?” Mu Yul asked.

“And immediately I left the hospital, right before me, your soul left your body after a hit and run accident. Your soul was the one I brought back here since you told me you didn’t want to suffer all that you went through with your father. You didn’t want to suffer anymore” Yeomra said, and Mu Yul just stared, short of words.

“So, how long does she have?” He managed to find his voice.

“After this audition, tell her celestial being about it, or you both can help her become popular,” Yeomra said.

“What do you mean?” He asked.

“She’s going to record a song, and through that song, everyone will forever remember her… but, immediately the song is released, we can’t cheat nature because something will eventually take her life, even if it’s a little bite from a mosquito… It’s her destiny. There’s no way to save her, so don’t ask me,” Yeomra said.

“Where the Fůçƙ is he?” Blueberry, who had been trying to stop Miss Rachel from harming the students, grumbled.

MARVINS tried to get out but couldn’t. In no time, some of the students started floating in the air as if they were being controlled. With no other choice, Blueberry closed his eyes and right there, he began glowing so brightly, like the star he is. The hall was dark since there was no source of light, as the soul eater had taken domain over everything around the hall.

The floating students stopped screaming to look at what was glowing. When they noticed it was Blueberry, their screams increased as they were frightened. They even forgot the fact they were floating right now. MARVINS were in tears, for right now, their lives didn’t matter anymore. They just wanted to go see Sweetheart. The brightness from Blueberry almost blinded the students, including Miss Rachael, and for a while, she lost concentration, causing the students to fall back to the ground.

Miss Rachel super sped towards Devyn in an attempt to kill her, but Lesley took the stab in her stead. Devyn’s eyes widened in fright as she watched Lesley bleed.

“Lesley,” she called out in fear as she tried to hold onto Lesley, who was groaning in pain.

“Trust me, we’re both leaving Earth today,” Lesley smirked at Miss Rachel. Miss Rachel only chuckled as she removed the knife from Lesley’s stomach. Lesley fell on her knees as she bled profusely. Devyn blinked and fell on her knees too, trying to comfort Lesley who was in pain.

“You can’t leave yet, if you leave, I’ll die,” Lesley said to Catrina, as she could feel the two souls switching in her body.

“I know. I hope Berry comes to your aid. He’ll heal you because I’m still in you. So it will work out,” Catrina said, and immediately Blueberry appeared in front of them.

He took a strand of his hair and placed it on the injured spot. Like Catrina said, the wound healed up, all thanks to Catrina’s spirit in Lesley’s body.

Ian quickly left to meet Blueberry, who was busy. The work was just too much for him alone. Ian cried even more loudly when he got closer to Blueberry.

“Sweetheart, we received a message he died,” Ian said, and Blueberry faced him at once.

“What did you say?” He asked.

“Please save him,” Ian cried again. Blueberry staggered back slightly as he looked at Miss Rachel already killing the students. How was he going to do it? He wondered.

“What should I do? I know you aren’t selfish. Should I save just one soul and let the whole school die?” He asked, and Ian fell on his butt because the question was kind of heavy for him.

Blueberry closed his eyes firmly, and at that moment, he felt Mu Yul’s presence. His eyes snapped open at once, and for the first time, he disappeared and reappeared in front of Mu Yul. He took the sword of hell and appeared in front of Miss Rachel.

“To kill the soul eater, you just need a single tear from your eyes on the sword of hell, and you’re good to go,” Blueberry recalled. He brought the sword towards his eyes. He wasn’t the type to cry, but Sweetheart’s death made him sad, and tears left his eyes.

“Sweetheart, I hope you wait for me. I’ll save you,” he muttered and opened his eyes. Immediately he did, his eyes shone white. He smirked as he stood in front of Miss Rachel, and an angry scream left his throat.

HOSPITAL

Sweetheart’s parents took his already stiff body to their mansion. His mom cried as if her world was gone.

What did she do wrong? Who did she offend? Why was it her only child? Why was the universe so mad at her to the extent of taking her only joy? She was supposed to be mad at the rest of the boys, but she could imagine her son scolding her, telling her his brothers were innocent. The thought alone made her cry even more.

“My son,” she cried, while her husband tried to comfort her. Sweetheart’s soul wept, yet no tears left his eyes.

He told his brothers he was strong, and what? He died? How was that even possible?” he wondered. But right there, two grim reapers appeared and took his soul away.

“Let me go. I need to see my brothers. I can’t die now,” he screamed, but there was no going back right now.

DAENG COMMERCIALS.

Cecilia’s eyes were fixed on her computer, and the sound erupting from the keyboard was the only thing audible right now.

Jayden walked in and found Cecilia deeply engrossed in her work. He moved gently to where her computer was connected and disconnected it.

“Who the Fůçƙ is the moro…” She paused when she saw it was her boss.

“Hey, Jay, I’ve told you to stop acting like a kid,” she said, and he smiled instead while she shook her head. She didn’t know her boss was jovial, unlike how she once knew him from the start.

“Can’t you go see the new house? I have all the time, I’ll take you there,” he said, and she thought for a while.

“Could it be after work, please huh?” she asked, and he smiled before nodding. He turned to leave but stopped when he heard his name.

“Thank you for everything, even when I have nothing to offer,” she said, and he faced her.

“Just make sure you’re fine. That’s all I want from you,” he said. Apart from her daughter and Blueberry, Jayden would be the first person to say this to her. She felt honored, and she nodded gently.

He winked at her and then exited the office. Cecilia sighed and went back to connect her computer, sitting down to continue typing.

Cherry could only stare, though she was mad, but she needed to save her head from Cecilia’s mysterious son.

The blade slid through Miss Rachel’s stomach, and she coughed out blood at once. Her eyes turned red immediately.

“You…” The spirit inside her struggled to say as it held on to Blueberry’s arm.

Blueberry removed the blade from Miss Rachel, who fell on her knees.

“How could y…” She didn’t get to complete her statement when she fainted. Blueberry staggered backward slightly, feeling somewhat tired.

Mu Yul went to him.

“There’s something I need to tell you,” he said, but Blueberry didn’t ask him what it was as he turned to see the scared faces of the students.

“He’s a wizard! Someone, please help!” they screamed. Devyn and Lesley watched from where they stood. MARVIN also said no words as all they could do was cry. Blueberry’s gave moved to the students, and he immediately closed his eyes.

“Right now, I wish the memory of minutes ago be cleared,” he said in his head, and a wind blew slightly among the students.

Those that died and their souls were still around the corner all came back to their bodies.

The students murmured as the shut doors all opened. Miss Rachel, too, seemed to be feeling fine. The other teachers all entered, and they didn’t seem to remember what had happened.

Marvins returned to their seats, and the students began singing again.

After seven other students had sung, the principal stood up.

“Greetings, students,” Mr. Park Bin addressed the students, but then, Mu Yul and Blueberry disappeared from the hall without being noticed.

Mu Yul and Blueberry landed in Sweetheart’s home but caught no sight of his soul around the house. Blueberry exhaled.

“Do those grim reapers not wait for a few minutes before escorting someone?” He said aloud as he stared at Sweetheart’s stiff body.

“I came late, didn’t I?” He asked, but the dead couldn’t speak. He sighed sadly as he bowed a few times to the deceased parents before leaving the house with Mu Yul.

“What is it you want to tell me?” Blueberry asked, and Mu Yul’s steps faltered as he stared at Blueberry without a word.

“Say something… why is your face this way? Is Devyn dying?” He asked while Mu Yul sighed sadly.

“Don’t give me that look because you know I’ll never let it happen,” he said.

“This is something you can’t do, it’s destined to happen. If she’s to die tomorrow, a slight cut or injury might kill her, even laughing so hard might take her life.”

“Felix, don’t worry, I’ll protect her in my own way. That’s my mission” Blueberry said and turned to leave.

“I see you have the ability to teleport now.”

” Yeah, I noticed today. Anyway, I’ll go home. We’ll meet around 5 pm since that’s when the burials will be taking place,” He said to Mu Yul and disappeared from there.

He appeared right in front of Devyn at home. She screamed out in fear that she almost slipped. Mu Yul’s words rang in his ears, and he quickly caught her.

She swallowed emptiness and quickly stood up from his body.

“No body contact,” she warned and rushed into her room. Blueberry said nothing to her as he also walked into his room. He was happy that he caught the soul eater without anyone dying again.

MARVINS’ RESIDENCE

“Can you tell me what you heard that made you so absentminded? To the extent Sweetheart had to get injured ” Alistair asked, and Valerie looked at them.

“I wish I was the one in his place,” he replied, and the boys exchanged confused glances.

“What do you mean?” They all chorused, and he explained things to them. Nash’s eyes were the first to open.

“WTF are you saying? Your mom is the cause of what happened to Devyn and her family?” Nash asked.

“You mean she’s also the reason Mr. Henry drove his wife and daughter out of the house?” Ian asked.

“And your brother, Josh, is Devyn’s half-brother? Wow, this is incredible…” Valerie didn’t say anything as he stood.

“What will you do about her?” Rema asked.

“I’ll tell her the truth, arrest, or disown my mom, and after that, I’ll quit being the V in MARVINS,” he said.

“What?” The boys chorused again.

“Let’s check on Sweetheart,” Valerie said istead, changing the topic, as he turned to leave for his room for a change of clothes.

Maikel’s phone vibrated, and he checked it. It was a message from Sweetheart’s mom, telling them to come to say their final goodbye.

Maikel frowned confusedly and wondered who they were saying a final goodbye to.

“Did someone die? Why would Mrs. Park Mira say we should come and say our final goodbye?” Maikel asked aloud and made to exit the message icon when his eyes caught another message.

“COME TO THE HOSPITAL, WE LOST THE PATIENT.”

“Huh? Apart from Sweetheart, is there any other patient you know at the hospital?” Maikel asked, not wanting to believe what he read. The rest shook their heads and he then read through Mrs. Park Mira’s message, and he staggered.

“The car keys… let’s go to Mr. Park’s mansion,” Maikel said, and the boys didn’t bother to ask what happened as Alistair went to grab his car keys. They divided themselves into two cars and zoomed off.

Miss Rachel, who saw their cars, left in a hurry to get hers with the aim of knowing what was happening. They got there, and truly, Sweetheart was already placed in a coffin, looking so innocent as he’s always been.

“Ma’am, what’s he doing there?” Valerie asked, to be sure, else he’d blame himself forever for Sweetheart’s death.

“Sweetheart, you told me you’re strong. Remember what you told us before entering the operation room? You said MARVINS aren’t complete without the S, so you promised to survive this. You know we had plans to sing the songs we’ve been working on, right? Please wake up, will you?” Valerie swallowed nothing, and when he noticed Sweetheart didn’t even show off his cute smile, he knew something was off. He left the place in tears at once.

The other boys didn’t even know when he left because they were grieving so hard. They stayed there until Sweetheart was buried.

Miss Rachel couldn’t help but cry. The cute little kid who always told her she’s scary but he loves scary people was no longer there. She folded her hands on her chest, sobbing greatly.

In the same way, Harriet too was buried. Elvira had stayed with Harriet’s family since the incident, crying non-stop.

Emerald and her group members were also in tears, yet the amount of their tears couldn’t bring her back.

Two famous students died in their school. It was so heartbroken, yet Blueberry didn’t show up to say his last words. Only Devyn and Lesley, alongside a few students, were present.

It was a sad day for the students, but that didn’t guarantee the audition would stop. They wanted to release all the students from the silver class so they’d go make a life out of themselves.

The day went in a blur, and everyone retired to the house, except for the boys who stayed behind to mourn Sweetheart. Their hearts were so heavy.

“Just why… who’s gonna be acting all disobediently now? With whom are we gonna be playing the ‘catch the thief game’ with’? Who’s going to scold us to stop calling you Sweetheart?” Alistair cried heartily.

Dina came back home, looking so tired. She turned on the bulb switch, only to see Valerie in the sitting room. She was startled by his presence.

“Son? What are you doing in the dark?” She asked, walking to him. She noticed his swollen eyes and made to touch him.

“Don’t you dare touch me with those hands, Dina,” he shouted in tears, and his mom was surprised by his actions. He stood up and laughed briefly.

“Because of you, I killed Sweetheart,” he said, choking on his saliva. Dina didn’t seem to understand a thing.

“Josh is Mr. Han’s son. You, the acid thing, you did it because Mr. Han told you both to end everything. And what? Devyn had to suffer for it.”

“You…” Valerie cried. “You were the reason for my own kidnap. Who knows if you aren’t the one that killed dad?” Valerie laughed annoyingly as tears streamed down his cheeks.

“You…you’re not a human but a selfish monster. So don’t worry, I don’t know you, so do you. But trust me, you’re gonna be spending all your lives in a cold cell where you’ll freeze to death,” Valerie said and made to walk past Dina, but she held him back.

Valerie faced her with a dangerous glare, and she gently let go as tears started leaving her eyes. He turned to the door, where he saw Josh just coming.

“Big brother” he called, and Valerie stopped walking and faced him.

“We aren’t related, neither do I know you or the beast that gave birth to you,” Valerie said meanly and left the mansion. Josh was confused and faced Dina, who was in tears.

“Mom? What happened? Why does brother look so angry?” He asked, but Dina wasn’t in a place to talk as she sobbed.

She took her phone and made a call.

Valerie got back to their residence in school and cried his eyes out. While still in tears, he felt a presence and looked up only to see Blueberry.

“Where are the rest of you?” He asked, but Valerie said no words.

“Are you blaming yourself for his death?” Blueberry asked, sitting next to Valerie, who was sniffing greatly. His mind was really troubled.

“What happened?” He asked. Valerie made to talk, but tears wouldn’t let him make a statement. Blueberry sighed and didn’t bother to force Valerie to talk.

He waited until Valerie had calmed down a little, then threw his questions, and Valerie gave answers to what he asked.

“He’s the most careless being I’ve come across since my stay on Earth,” Blueberry sighed sadly. “He made sure he stayed with Valerie until Valerie fell asleep. He entered one of the rooms and took out something he’d use to cover Valerie up. When he was done, he disappeared from the place, appearing in the house.

“Ah! “Cecilia and Devyn screamed out in fear.

“Yah, I’ve told you to stop that, didn’t I?” Devyn shouted.

“Sorry,” Blueberry said and entered his room.

“Wait, did my Berry just appear?” Cecilia asked.

“You saw it. I’m not in the mood to talk, please. Sweetheart died, so did Harriet. It’s so sad,” Devyn said and didn’t know when tears began leaving her eyes.

“Everything has a reason, so you shouldn’t question anyone,” Cecilia told her, and Devyn wiped her tears.

“We should move to our new home during the weekends,” Cecilia said, and she nodded. She stood up and left for the room to rest. She’s been crying since.

…….

Blueberry found himself among star CLū$ters like he has always seen when he had any questions to ask.

“What brings you here?” He heard a voice amidst the cLū$ters.

“I heard something absurd about Devyn being dead but her future…”

“Yes, her future self said she’ll be popular, and that’s true, but not her physical self. She’ll be known for her melodious voice and captivating song lyrics. The world will talk about her, and-”

“Then what’s the need?” Blueberry cut in.

“What do you want to do?”

“Is there no other way to save her? Is it a must she dies?” He asked.

” What’s the essence of being popular when you can’t even witness it for a day?” He asked again. “How do I help her out? At least, I’m her star,” he said.

” To do that, you won’t be able to return here,”

“I’ll stay here?” He asked.

” If you stubbornly want to save her, then you must end your existence for her to live and witness the day she wishes to see, for her to fulfill destiny without disturbance,”

He frowned at the revelation.

” To save her, I have to die?” He asked, and the star CLū$ters radiated brightly.

“Yes!” Numerous voices spoke this time
