Mirriam woke up the next morning and when she was about to stretch herself an angry Mr Xuan barged into the guest room fuming in anger.
“You!” He pointed a finger at her and grabbed her hand and forcefully dragged her up
“Aww Maxwell let go of me!” she winced in pain
“You ruined everything you witch! I don’t know what…arghhh!” He pushed her and she fell back on the bed
Mirriam crawled back from him,she has never seen him this angry and it shook her to the bones
“My wife kicked me out of our room! She’s angry at me and will never forgive me because of you!!” He growled with reddened eyes that had eye bags under them proving that he didn’t sleep at all
“Because of me!!??? I didn’t force you to be with me!” she fired back
“Shut it!!” He exploded “You will remain unseen and unheard in this house! I want you out of my house as soon as you put to bed!
“Maxwell! You can’t do that to me I’m the mother of your child!” she shrieked
He just glared at her and left the room,she tried to run after him but he shut the door before she could reach it and she banged on it while shouting and swearing.

Catherine stood in front of the mirror and applied lipgloss.
“So you’re seriously going to ignore me?” Anderson raised his brow
He was laying on the bed with his hands behind his head while staring at her through the mirror
“No I won’t! Until you tell me why didn’t you kick that woman out of the house? Why are you so scared of her?” she turned to look at him “What does she have on you?”
“I..I don’t want to get into my father’s affairs alright!” He shrugged
“Even when it involves mom’s wellbeing and happiness!? I can’t believe you” she frowned and stormed out
“Not even a kiss? Gosh!” He groaned and closed his eyes
Catherine was thinking of getting back to work to distract her from all of the drama at home even though her leave wasn’t over yet,she was a doctor in one of the four biggest private hospitals in the city.
She was on her way to Mrs Xuan’s room to check up on her but stopped when she reached Xavier’s
She wanted to go in there to see how he’s faring but she knew how he was.She took a deep breath and looked around if anyone is around and luckily there was nowhere in sight and she went in and closed the door behind her.
Xavier was smoking in the balcony when he heard the door close followed by silence.
He turned and found Catherine standing there looking at him looking breathtaking as ever even in just a simple floral dress
He didn’t know what it was but he knew that everytime she was around his heart would leap faster than it usually does.
“H..Hi I just wanted to check if you’re okay ..after what happened..” she fondled with the hem of her dress
“Check?” He chuckled “I’m perfectly fine Mi amor, don’t tell me you thought I was gonna kill myself just because of,that” He laughed
“But that’s not what…” she paused and breathed out “I just know how it feels to witness your parents getting to h@të each other,their marriage falling apart and constantly fighting” she said lowly and broke eye contact
He walked up to her and stopped in front of her “But I’m not you ,Kitten” he whispered
She looked up at him “I’m sorry” she whispered back
“For what exactly? Disturbing my peace? Or crossing your boundaries? I told you to get out of my way and play far from me,now get out!” He said bluntly and walked back to the balcony
Catherine felt bitter and hurt but she was not going to let him get to her.
She walked up to him slowly “You can talk to me you know?” she said behind him
He sighed and turned to her and found her staring at him innocently
“What do you want exactly,Catherine?” He called her with her name for the first time and it sounded so good coming from him
“I just want to help,I just want to be there for you…a..as a friend of course” she said softly
He melted instantly when she said that but still maintained a straight face
“You should say that to your husband,not me” he frowned
She bit her inner cheek and looked down and he felt guilty because of what he said and he went to take a cigarette on the nightstand and lit it.
The more he puffed out smoke,the more smoke filled the air and Catherine coughed lightly.
He laughed lightly and stared at her “So innocent”
He walked up to her and stood behind her,she gulped hard because of his closeness
“Mi amor,do you know how hard it is to get over you…when you’re constantly throwing yourself back into my arms?” He whispered huskily
“I’m not throwing myself—” She gasped when he trailed his cold fingers on her bare back
“Hmmm? you were saying?” his hot breath hit her bare skin as he leaned in and the sensation drove her crazy
“I’m not throwing myself at you” she managed to say and turned to him “I just want to be there for you,I just want you to let me in” their eyes held as she said that
“If I let you in… Will you stay here forever?” He put her hand on his chest on the left side “Will you protect my heart tirelessly and be my home?”
“I..I ..”
“Of course!” He chuckled bitterly and let go of her and threw the cigarette on the ashtray
“No matter what we both feel or do behind everyone’s backs I’m still married to your brother!”
“My brother! My brother! You’re married to him,yet you’re here with me,now? You scream my name the loudest yet you claim to be married to him!? You wanna be there for me? What about him?” He shouted at her and
He pinned her against the wall and stared into her eyes “Not my brother’s nor anyone else’s name is carved into that little heart of yours but only mine,only mine Mi amor! I own your heart,I dominate that little mind of yours!” He growled
“Xavier! Open the door we need to talk” Anderson knocked and they both turned their heads to the door
They turned back to stare at each other and Xavier claimed her lips and kissed her hungrily and she just stood there with her heart ramming against her chest
She pushed him off as Anderson knocked louder
“Xavier open the door I know you’re in there! We have to talk”
“I have to—” Xavier cut her off by placing a finger on her lips
“If you feel something for me, anything! You will kiss me right now..to hell with my brother walking in on us,let’s not live in the shadows anymore Mi amor” he placed his forehead against hers
“What!?..” she asked in disbelief
“Kiss me Mi amor!” He said impatiently
“Brother open up! I’ll break this door down!” He banged harder on the door
Catherine’s heart was pounding and she looked at Xavier then the door before pushing him off and she ran into his bathroom.
Xavier felt shattered and stayed rooted to his spot.
Anderson pushed the door open and marched into the room
“You snake! Tell me why did father decide to put you in charge instead of me!?” He exploded
“Get out” Xavier said lowly
“Don’t tell me to get out you bastard! After all that—”
“Fuçk off !” Xavier grabbed his gun from the table and pointed it at his brother who went mute suddenly and moved back
“This is not over you hear me!” Anderson shouted and left
Xavier grabbed his keys and followed after.
Catherine waited for sometime before finally getting out and Xavier was nowhere to be found.She slumped on the floor and leaned on his bed and broke down in tears.

Jasmine scrubbed her hands more while she wept out.She didn’t know why she was doing that but she thought it might help ease off the guilt or the fear she had but it didn’t.
Her shaky wet hands reached for the towel and she dried them.
When she went out she almost screamed when she saw a figure standing near the door with a coffee in hand.
“Sorry for startling you but i thought you might need this” the same boy,her crush with emerald green eyes said gently
“T.. Thank you” she walked up to him and took the coffee “Please sit”
He nodded and sat on the couch “You didn’t go for training today,so I heard.Rachel is really mad at you”
“I didn’t feel like it” she sat on the bed and looked down
“I guess it’s because of what happened yesterday?” He looked at her
“How do you…ohh I guess everyone knows I killed a man” She chuckled bitterly
“You don’t really look like you belong here,on top of that you look clueless about how this kind of world or life rather..works,but one thing is guaranteed.. you’re playing with fire and it’s dangerous”
“W..What do you mean?” she looked at him
“Run,as far as you can…before the vultures devour you completely” He said and stood up “Enjoy your coffee and take it easy” He smiled sweetly at her and left
She looked at the door for a while while deep in thoughts and she made up her mind that she was going to escape from here.

Catherine wiped her tears and sniffed in.
“Wanna talk about it?” Mrs Xuan said behind her
“Mom!” she turned to her and stood up
“No..sit” she chuckled and sat on the bench and Catherine sat too
“Ho..How are you feeling after…”
“It’s part of life my child… I’m a woman afterall,I guess every woman endures this at times…only few are lucky” she smiled at her “and judging from what I saw I’m guessing.. trouble in paradise?”
“Sort of…” she fondled with her fingers
“I just want you to know one thing, marriage is not easy and so is a relationship.You fight with the one you love and you even fight for them,love conquers all and we cannot force love.It is not always bed of roses and that’s what makes it stronger,the challenges you face I mean…so wh@tëver it is,your love will get you through it” she smiled and picked up a sunflower
“I understand mother…” Catherine looked into space
“I’ll leave you to get your own space,besides I need to help the maids with cooking” she stood up slowly
“Can I help too?” Catherine looked at her “I need a distraction”
“Okay come on” Catherine’s eyes beamed as soon as she said that and she quickly got up and they went to the kitchen together.

Anderson tapped his foot impatiently waiting for the elevator to open and he breathed out in relief when it finally did
Kim,his PA’s face popped up immediately and he rolled his eyes.
“What is it Kim?” He walked to his office
“Sir there is a lady waiting for you in your office,she has been there for a while and has refused to leave..just wanted to give you the heads up” Kim ran after him
“Fine, you’re excused I’ll take it from here and ask Tracy to set up the boardroom for me,some clients are coming over”
“Yes sir” she bowed and walked to the opposite direction
When he reached his office he opened the door and found the ‘woman’ Kim was talking about sitting comfortably on his office chair
He shut the door and she smirked at him.
“How dare you show your face here!? Are you insane woman!?” He lashed out
“Yes I am since you have been ignoring my calls! I told you I will show up at your house and I never break my promises
“If only you did a stupid abortion we wouldn’t be here! Now get lost” he threw his laptop bag on the table
“You’re not going to toss me aside just like that!” she stood up “I want all the heaven and earth you promised me when you th-ru_sted that lil chip of yours into me” she frowned while pointing at his manhood
“She’s your best friend for goodness sake! And my wife,I can’t just abandon her to be with you!”
“I do not care! Marry me,make me your wife and to hell with her”
“Sofia!” He shouted
“Sofie! Not Sofia you goblin!” she barked “I’m not playing with you Anderson,my child will not be born out of wedlock and i will make sure you take care of this child, it’s yours too!” she said fuming in anger.
