Jasmine finally stopped and leaned against the tree after running for a long time,she was gasping for air and coughing out,while her feet throbbed in excruciating pain.
Her eyelids were getting heavier but she managed to catch a glimpse of city lights and she smiled in satisfaction knowing that she was closer to getting home.
She finally let her eyes shut to get some rest for a little while even though her throat felt dry,she needed water to quench her thirst but she felt like she needed rest more.
“Look well,she can’t be that far! Spread out and make sure you find her!” she heard one of Rachel’s men say and her heart leaped in fear
“They can’t find me” she said breathing hard and looked back
Their torches can be seen brightening across the trees meaning that they were so close to her.
She thought of running but she fought against it knowing she didn’t have enough strength and would be caught before getting anywhere,she looked for a good hiding spot and hid behind a bushy tree.
The sound of crashing dry leaves could be heard and the twigs breaking into pieces as soon as the boots of those men stepped mercilessly on them.
Jasmine covered her mouth to prevent them from hearing her breathing hard out of fear,thirst and tiredness.
“Still no sign of her bud” One of them said flashing his torch around and Jasmine leaned down a bit so he cannot see her
“Let’s keep looking” the leader said and they moved from that spot and she finally breathed out in relief.
When she was about to stand up she heard a hissing sound of a snake and she panicked and stepped back not knowing she was stepping on its tail.
The snake quickly bit her and luckily its fangs only got hold of her boot and she screamed in horror unknowingly which alerted the men.
“It’s coming from there!” they quickly ran to the direction her scream was coming from
They halted on their steps when they saw her swinging her foot in the air and kicking trying to get it off her.
One of the man shot it effortlessly and she screamed in fear,when she was about to look up she heard something hit her from the back of her head before her eyes rolled to the back of her head and she lost consciousness before falling like a sac of potatoes.
“Just got a call from the boss,she said we shouldn’t kill her” the one that hit her with his gun said and the others nodded before her picked her up and tossed her over his shoulder like she weighed like a feather before they went back.

Catherine applied lotion to her hands while looking at herself in the mirror.She was deep in thoughts when Anderson suddenly appeared behind her wearing his pyjamas.
“Can we talk?” He looked at her
“Let’s do it in the morning” she stood up and took off her gown “I’m tired”
“Cathy” he sighed and watched her getting in bed and he followed suit
“I asked Dr Brown if I could get back to work and he agreed” she suddenly said and grabbed a book on the nightstand
“Who’s that?” He arched his brow
“My boss,the superintendent” she flipped through the pages noisily and he suddenly held her hands to stop her
“Why would you do that? I thought your leave was for a month and we both agreed you will go back once we’ve moved into our own house and you’ll use this opportunity to bond with my family” He spoke softly
“I’m just—”
“What’s wrong now? Did i do something?” He stared at her
“No, I’m just tired of everything that’s been happening in this house.. it’s too much for me and—”
“That’s exactly why i’ve been thinking that we should move out,buy our own house and start our own family” He smiled at her
She snapped her head towards him with bulged out eyes “What!?”
“Y.. Yeah I mean you didn’t think we were going to live here forever were you?”
“No,but I don’t think this is the right time to talk about this!” she looked away
“W..Why?”
“Because… Because…” she thought of an excuse and when she finally did she looked at him “Because I’m planning Millicent’s birthday party,i thought it would ease off the tension in the house and you know..” she chuckled nervously
“Ohh yeah!” He groaned as realisation hit him “I totally forgot about it gosh! She was gonna skin me alive!” He chuckled
“Yeah see,so we’ll talk..about it after the party”
“Okay” he kissed her forehead and was about to trail down her neck when she drew back and cleared her throat
“I’m tired,umm goodnight” she put the book back on the nightstand and slept with her back facing him
“G..Good night” he sighed and looked down at his erected manhood

Mr Xuan stared at his wife lovingly as she walked out of the bathroom.
“Come here” he tapped the space next to him
She blushed but quickly covered it up and rolled her eyes before going to sit next to him
“Thank you” he began “Thank you for everything,for giving me a second chance to make things right and love you right this time” he held her hands “Thank you Ivy,for forgiveness…I was just blinded by loneliness,I don’t know what came over me” he looked down
“I might forgive you Maxwell,but it still hurts…our children are broken by this,what you did is way too extreme and it’s going to take time for them to forgive you, especially Xavier” she said sadly
“I know ,and I’ll do anything to have my family back and to gain back your trust” he kissed her palms
“When will you let her out of that room?”
He looked at her and sighed
“You have to, she’s still pregnant regardless of how she is and her health is most important right now” she rubbed his hands gently
“Alright, I’ll ask Tessa to let her out” he smiled at her
“Good,now let’s go have some breakfast before you leave” she pulled him up

Millicent hummed softly as she finished up setting the table all alone.
Mr Xuan and Mrs Xuan walked downstairs hand in hand and when Millicent spotted them she rushed to them
“Good morning my two most important people in my life!” she giggled and hugged them both “Breakfast is all ready, prepared by me of course!” she guided them to the dining hall while they glared at each other clueless
“Thank you my lovely daughter,where are the others?” Mr Xuan looked at her
“Right here Dad” Anderson said from the entrance with Catherine trailing behind him
“Good morning” they said simultaneously and the old couple hummed in response
“I’m sure brother Xavier has left early coz I haven’t seen him” Millicent said
“Why are you still standing? Come on sit” Mrs Xuan motioned her to take a seat
“No mom,I won’t join you guys unfortunately today,I have an appointment, bye!” she rushed out before anyone said anything
Mirriam walked in after and the atmosphere immediately turned tense
“G..Good morning everyone” she muttered
“What are you doing here!?” Anderson lashed out and stood up
“Sit down Anderson!” Mr Xuan said sternly “Miriam here,will sit with us for breakfast”
“Father you can’t.. I’m out of here” He fumed and stormed out
“Anderson come back here!” his father shouted but he paid deaf ears
“I’ll talk to him father” Catherine ran after him
“Sit..” He said icily to Miriam who obeyed him silently and took a seat

“Anderson wait!” Catherine tried to talk to Anderson but he just grabbed his things and rushed downstairs and she ran after him
“Anderson!”
*Just leave me alone Cathy!” He left her there while she cursed a thousand times
She sighed and stood there for a while before deciding to go back upstairs.
She stopped by the family portrait hanging on the wall and settled her eyes on Xavier and she found herself missing him,his voice,kisses and even yearned for his touch
She looked sideways before walking up to his room,when she got there she knocked twice before getting in.
Xavier was about to get into the bathroom when the door opened and he halted on his steps to check who is it.
Catherine closed the door and when she turned she gasped.
“Gosh! You scared me,I thought you left” she said breathlessly
“If you thought I’m not here then,what are you doing here?” He arched his brow
“Umm” she cleared her throat “I just wanted to check if they,cleaned up your room” she lied smoothly,truth is she just wanted to steal one of his jackets or shirt just to inhale his scent
“Take a shower with me” he smirked at her
“N..No I’ll just go,I just took a shower not so long ago” she avoided his gaze
“Then help me unbutton my shirt and you can leave” he licked his lower lip
“O.. Okay” she walked towards him slowly and when she reached him she started unbuttoning his shirt with her eyes focused on the buttons
Her hands were shaky and he watched her every move.Xavier suddenly pulled her towards him more and she crashed into his chest
“Beautiful” he muttered and tucked her hair behind her ears
“I..I need to go somewhere” she stuttered
“Okay” He planted wet kisses on her neck and she held her breath and bit her lower lip
“Please…” she held tight to his shirt
“I know,just one moment” he whispered and lowered the straps of her dress “You wouldn’t wanna get into the shower with your clothes on right?”
“I didn’t agree—”

He pulled back and stared at her.
“I missed you” He muttered and got pulled down her dress and it fell free on the floor before ripping apart his shirt
