Miriam’s body rolled off the last stair and fell on the floor in a thud and everyone gasped in shock including Grandpa Paul and his wife
“Ivy!! What have you done!!!!?” Mr Xuan shouted
“Mom!!!” Sofie screamed and ran to her mom’s lifeless body and knelt in front of her “Mom say something! Please talk to me!” She shook her swimming in tears “Don’t just stand there! Do something!!” she looked at the crowd and some were already taking videos
“Call an ambulance!” Grandma Daisy shouted and walked towards Sofie to try and console her
“Everyone out! Party is over! ” Grandpa Mario shouted at them and they didn’t even move
“Just call a d@mn ambulance!” Sofie cried
“I’m dialling the number for God’s sake!” He pressed on his phone with shaky hands
Mrs Xuan stood there without moving an inch,she was too shocked and her body felt numb.
“Ivy!!” Mr Xuan shook her but she just stared into space “How could… I’ll be back for you!” He let go of her and she stumbled back and he rushed downstairs
“Miriam? Baby?” He knelt next to Sofie and held Mirriam’s hand “Where’s the ambulance!!?” He stood up and rushed to Anderson “Give me the car keys!”
“Not now father” Anderson said sternly still glaring at his brother
Mr Xuan was about to explode on him when Patrick stepped in front of him
“Take my car” He handed him the car keys and Mr Xuan glared at Anderson before going back to take Miriam to the hospital ,Sofie and Grandpa Paul insisted on going with with.
“I asked a question brother,What do you mean by your woman‽”
Xavier ignored him and threw the gun on the floor and tore his gaze from Tyson who was trembling in fear and had already wet his pants
He turned to Catherine and pulled her into a hug.
“It’s okay, you’re safe now” He reassured her
Patrick knew Xavier was burning in anger but tried to subside it and he saw how Anderson was shaking in anger next to him,he knew things were about to get messy and he decided to make everyone leave.
“Okay everybody out!” He faced them “Come on, move!”
“Didn’t you hear what he said!? Out!” Don pointed his gun at them and they scurried out
“You!!!” Anderson marched towards them and pushed Xavier before grabbing his collar and punched him
Xavier staggered back and glared at him
“Anderson please!” Catherine shouted
Anderson turned back to her and she stepped back with tears streaming down her face
“I’m … I’m sorry it… it’s not what it looks like” Her voice shook
“My brother,my own brother” His voice cracked “My own flesh and blood ,how could you? After everything!? After everything we’ve been through! After everything I’ve done for you!!” He barked
“I’m… I’m sorry sorry…it was a mistake…I …I didn’t mean to….” She cried bitterly
“A mistake huh?” Xavier chuckled painfully
“How long?” Anderson asked lowly
“Does it matter?” Xavier asked nonchalantly
“Shut up you!” Anderson turned to him
Millicent woke up on the couch when she heard the noise,she groaned and looked around
“Hey! Wh…where is everybody?” she hiccuped and got up and fell on the couch “I need some water” She stood up again
“Andy please ,look at me,I love you” Catherine said lowly
Anderson picked up Xavier’s gun and pointed it at him
“You always stood in my way! You took everything away from me! Our father’s attention! Mom’s love! The company and now my wife!!! I h@të you so much!!” Tears rolled down his face
“I didn’t ask for it! I never wanted your father’s attention! Mom loves you as much as she loves me and your wife? I didn’t plan for it! It just happened!!” He walked towards Anderson
“What’s going…ohh my god Tyson are you okay?” Millicent rushed to his side “He’s bleeding!”
“Then why did you become the centre of attention! Why are you after my wife!?”
“A.. Anderson! Please! I’m sorry” She begged
He let go of the gun and it fell on the floor and he slowly turned to her
“I h@të you! I h@të you!—”
“No! No” She shook her head vigorously
“I h@të you so much! I curse the day I laid my eyes on you! You’re nothing but a cheap good for nothing slut!”, He spat
“You do.. don’t mean that,you’re just hurt …you…” she walked closer to hold him but he pushed her off
“You’re just a worthless whore!” He shouted and watched as she held her chest with eyes clouded by her tears “You disgust me! Our marriage is over” he took off his ring and threw it at her and stormed off
“An… Anderson..” Her eyes rolled up to the back of her head and she fell unconscious
“Sh|t! Don get the car!” Xavier ran to her and scooped her up and rushed to the car
Don drove the car from the parking and stopped near the door and Xavier quickly laid her at the backseat and got in beside her
“My house” He said and Don nodded before speeding up
Xavier called the family doctor to arrive at his house as soon as possible
“Please be fine for me, I’m sorry for everything” He kissed her palms

Sofie kept pacing back and forth impatiently bitting on her nails
“Please sit down young lady you’re giving me a headache!” Mr Xuan groaned
“Don’t tell me to calm down! This is all your fault and i swear If anything happens to my mother! Hmm I will send you to hell!!” she lashed out at him
The doctor approached them and Grandpa Paul who has been silent the whole time stood up
“Doctor how is she?” He asked
“I have good news and bad news—”
“Just say it!” Sofie said harshly
“Unfortunately she lost the baby,but she’s fine..but she has a sprained ankle and we would like to keep her for a few days just to observe and di more tests to confirm that she’s really okay,If there are no questions please excuse me” he said and left
“This is going to kill her” Sofie roughened her hair and sat on the bench
Grandpa Paul and Mr Xuan looked at each other.

“Daughter, please talk to me,say something” Grandma Daisy held Mrs Xuan’s shaky hand
They have been in the room since Mr Xuan and Grandpa Paul took Miriam to the hospital,the room was soundproofed that’s why they couldn’t hear anything that was going on downstairs
“I d… didn’t do it mother I didn’t..” she sobbed “She slipped and….and ….”
“Shhhh,hush child,I believe you” Grandma Daisy pulled her into a hug and rubbed her back while she cried her eyes out “It will all be okay” she whispered

“Are you sure she’s going to be okay?” Xavier asked for the umpteenth time
He had called the family doctor again this morning to check on Catherine since she didn’t show any sign that she’s going to wake up soon.
“Mr Xuan she’s fine,you know what? If she doesn’t wake up by the end of this day,bring her to the hospital and I’ll take care of her myself” The doctor smiled and Xavier nodded
“I’ll see you out” Nanny Diana said and she went out with the doctor
Xavier sighed and sat next to her,after a while Catherine groaned and flipped her eyes open but the brightness pierced into her eyes and she shut them for a moment
“You’re awake” He smiled softly
“It wasn’t a dream,was it?” she looked at him
“No” he looked away
“I have to go” she wanted to get up but he pulled her down
“Go where?” He glared at her
“Back to my husband,I need to ask for forgiveness” She looked at him
“I Don think now is the right time to do that, he’s still—”
“Why? Is it because it’ll stop you from getting what you want!?”
“And what is that exactly?” He arched his brow
“Me! You want me! And you’ve been waiting for this to happen so you can finally claim me as yours right? Are you happy now!? ”
Xavier’s eyes darkened and he let go of her hands and stood up,he headed for the door but stopped on the way and turned back to her.
“You need to figure out what you really want,you didn’t even think twice when you jumped on me and told me you love me,you’re so selfish,before you blame me for everything and paint me as the bad guy,look into the mirror first” He said lowly and went out and shut the door
She hugged her knees and rested her head on them and cried.

“What about my pay sir?” A young man seated in front of him fixed his glasses while grinning
“Ohh that,yes son!, I’ll give you your hard earned bonus by the closing hours!” He laughed and rubbed his protruding potbelly
“Nobody will ever forget about this and no newspaper article will ever be juicy as this one sir” The young man grinned more and chuckled
“I never knew this high profile,well known and respected Xuan family had such a scandal hidden behind those walls! And now I’m about to let their skeletons out of the closet, especially that of the newly weds!” He stroked his beard and laughed hysterically
