PARKING LOT
“Who were you talking to?” Catherine looked at Xavier who got into the car
“Noboby important..” he leaned in closer to her and she held her breath
“You’re going to die if you hold your breath for that long Mi amor” he fastened her seatbelt
Catherine finally breathed and bit her inner cheek,his manly scent filled her nostrils and she smiled
Her stomach suddenly grumbled and her face flushed in embarrassment
Xavier chuckled and leaned back on his seat.
“Let’s go get some food,shall we?” he looked at her
“Umm…the… people and media,I don’t want to face all of that” Catherine bit her lip and looked down
“So you’re just going to sit at home everyday because of what happened? People will always be people and it will all blow over, you’re with me right?” He looked at her and she nodded
“Good” he added and started the car and they went to a restaurant to grab some food

XAVIER’S HOUSE
“I still don’t get this” Mrs Xuan paced back and forth in the living room
“Why didn’t you tell Paul about this or at least your wife!” Nanny Diana snapped
“I couldn’t! There was so much pressure, difficult decisions to take and she made me keep my mouth shut!” He rushed his words
“Start from the beginning Maxwell! And don’t leave anything out” Mrs Xuan sat down and faced him
“Okay..” he took a deep breath “Miriam and I started our affair when you were still in the hospital,in a coma—”
“Not that part!” Mrs Xuan cut him off “I want you to repeat what you said earlier”
“No I want to hear everything,from the beginning” Nanny Diana eyed her
“When you fell into a coma Miriam was there for me and the kids,it was so hard to be without you.The kids were so young I couldn’t take care of them,I mean Xavier always wanted to help me but he was Just a fifteen year old boy who knew nothing about taking care of others!”
“I was fighting for my life for nine years! While you were having the best time of your life!” tears welled in her eyes
“No! It was killing me inside and…and I didn’t want to fall for Miriam but she was a good woman.The doctors saw no hope for you and wanted to turn off the machines but I fought against it! I fought Ivy that’s how much you mean to me,I took you home after five years of staying at the hospital and took you home.We got a doctor and a nurse to take care of you.Each day we thought there would be any development but there was none.I prayed that you come back to me and God seemed to have answered my prayers when you opened your eyes after nine years of waiting”
“Why didn’t you leave her after I came back to you!? Why couldn’t it just be me? Like it was before!? I didn’t ask for the accident did I?” she wiped her tears and looked away
“It wasn’t easy” he looked down “Three years of trying to make things right with you and forget about what Miriam and i had wasn’t easy but I realised I love you more than her.I saw my mistakes and I knew how much I hurt you, that’s why I stopped seeing her…not knowing it was already too late and she was pregnant for me but even then I told her to stay away” he looked at her with pleading eyes
Mrs Xuan turned and looked at him with glassy eyes
“That stunt she pulled of coming to our house unannounced didn’t work and that got her vexed, that’s when she dug some dirt and found out about grandpa’s illegal doings that he did back then,she used them to get things her way.I just wanted to protect my family and I was scared but I’m no longer scared,the only thing that scares me now…is losing you” he got up and went to kneel in front of her “Please forgive me and come back home with me”
She looked at him quietly and nodded slowly after some time and he hugged
“You’re not entirely forgiven” she pushed him slightly “But I’ll come back home”
“We have a bigger problem to solve, you’ll do this reunion later” Nanny Diana frowned at them and they cleared their throats “ Your mistress must be on her way to the police!”

AT THE POLICE STATION
Miriam took out a scarf and some shades from her bag and wore them before walking into the police station
“Good day” she said to the lady at the entrance “I’m here to lay charges”
“Okay,this way” the policewoman led her to the officer and when they arrived she knocked lightly
“Come in” a voice said from inside and she opened the door
The lady opened the door ajar and motioned her in, Miriam walked in and closer the door.
“Welcome ma’am, please take a seat” He said and she nodded and took a seat
“I’m here to provide evidence of all the illegal deeds of Mr Paul Xuan” she said and took out docvments from her bag
“Okay…wait a moment” He took some papers and scribbled some things on it “And you say you have proof? Concrete evidence?” he looked at her
“Yes..” she handed the evidence to him
“Let’s see..” he muttered and went to the docvments and his eyes bulged out because of what he saw and read “Ohh wow” he looked at her “ma’am I would like you to go back to that lady who brought you here,she will help you open a docket and tell her everything while I go through all this” he said
“Okay..” she glanced at him and took her bag and left
The officer rushed to the door and peeped to see if she really left before closing the door.He took out his phone and searched for some numbers and called them
“Have you found her?” Xavier spoke up
“Yes and she gave me the evidence” the officer whispered
“Good,make sure she trusts you and doesn’t suspect anything”
“Yes sir” he said and hung up

PIQUEL RESTAURANT
Xavier put his phone aside and continued eating his food.
“Did they find her?” Catherine looked at him
“Yes Mi amor,finish your food ” he took a napkin and reached for her to wipe her mouth
She nodded and she stabbed her fork on the meatballs and shoved it into her mouth, people stole glances at her and she didn’t feel feel snug as a bug in a rug which Xavier didn’t fail to notice and he got hold of her hand and gave it a light squeeze.
She looked at him and cleared her throat “I have something to tell you”
He put the fork down gently and diverted all his attention to her
“Okay?”
“I’m going back to work tomorrow” she bit her lip
“Why? I mean you can’t—”
“And why can’t I?” she frowned
“You’re pregnant Mi amor and you heard what the doctor said!” he snapped and composed himself in order not to gain attention
“I know, that’s why I spoke to the head doctor to reduce my working hours and he agreed!” She held his hand
“Do I have a say in this?” he muttered and she shrugged “I lost my appetite, you’ll find me in the car once you’re done” he yanked his hand off hers and she felt a sting in her heart
Xavier paid the bill and stormed out of the restaurant burning with fury
Catherine sighed and followed him
“Xavier wait” She held the car door when he opened it and closed it back
He looked at her in a frown and diverted his gaze inside the restaurant
“I’m not hungry anymore” she whispered
“Get in” he said nonchalantly and they both got into the car
He started the car and drove out of the parking lot
“I—”
“When you get at home take some rest okay?” he glanced at her for a moment and focused on the road
“Aren’t you coming home with me?” she asked softly and looked at him
“I have somewhere to be” he said bluntly and she looked down sadly
“Are you mad at me?” she whispered
Xavier grabbed her hand and kissed it lightly and he flashed a smile at her

XUAN MANSION
“Why are you hellbent on knowing if that child is mine or not?!” Anderson snapped as he walked upstairs with Sofie trailing behind him all vexed
“Because I’m your soon to be wife! And who knows maybe that’s the reason you’re so ignorant when I speak about marriage! Why don’t you get through with the divorce and marry me!?” she barked
“Yes it’s my child! And I don’t want my child being born out of wedlock!” he stopped and turned to her
“And you want this child to be born out of wedlock and be a bastard child!?” she shrieked “You will divorce her and marry me!” she pushed him out of the way and walked passed him
“I won’t marry you! Come hell or high water I won’t! You seem to have forgotten that what we had was just fun,I never made any promise to you we were just having fun! I feel nothing for you! I love Catherine” he said sternly and left her there rooted to her spot

“Stop touching me like that! I can walk by myself” Jasmine yanked herself from the grip of one of Rachel’s men
He pushed her inside and shut the door she groaned and banged in the door
“Stop messing with my door and get your @$$ here!” Rachel sipped whiskey from a glass while twirling with her chair
Jasmine looked at her with so much hatred,if looks could kill? Rachel would’ve been six feet under by now
She dragged a chair noisily and sat down.Rachel threw a file at her
“Everything you need to know about Xavier,Cole Xuan” Rachel smirked at her and pointed at the file “His wife ,or rather..” she chuckled “His brother’s pregnant wife that he stole from his brother,is getting back to work tomorrow and I need you to go there and befriend her,as you know….Heaven is empty and all the devil’s are here, you’re one of those devils sweetheart” Rachel leaned closer to her to examine her expression
“Okay” Jasmine said Bluntly and stood up
“Ohh and I’m going to need my men to roughen you up so she gets to treat you” Rachel said behind her and Jasmine scoffed mentally before leaving
“Let the games begin,see you soon Xavier Xuan” Rachel smirked while staring into space
