Chapter eight
Baek-Hyun was busy at his desk when suddenly his father walked in, he went surprised to see him.
“Dad? What are you doing here?”.
” This is my company if I can remember and I have the right to come in and out on how I want, ” He said.
“Sure, please take a sit”. he offered, and he sat down. ” so, what do I owe this visit for?”
“To talk to you about Ha-jun,” he said and Baek-Hyun sighed and rest his body on the chair. “when are you going to get serious about your engagement with her? Time is no longer on our side, everyone is waiting for the wedding bell to ring”.
” Please Dad, will you stop, I never made an arrangement with you or anybody that I was gonna get married to Ha-jun, it was your idea, not mine”.
“What are you trying to say, son?”. Mr.Dae-jung asked.
” My point exactly, I don’t like Ha-jun, and I don’t have any plans of marrying her”.
“You lied, son!” he snapped.” she has been your betrothed, and that it shall remain, you marrying her will bring good fortune to us “.
” You can’t be serious Dad, was that why you came to my office? Are you paying me off, all in the name of marriage? This is my life and my decision, you can’t tell me what to do, I have choices, you know?”. He replied angrily.
“Are you seeing someone else? is there someone else that is holding you back from seeing Ha-jun as the right woman for you?” he asked and Baek-Hyun ignore him.” let it not be, because I only got one woman for you and that is Ha-jun, I don’t care if you are in a relationship with someone else”. he stood up and walk away angrily.
Baek-Hyun stares after him and grunts in frustration.
Two days later, Si-u was walking along the road with her luggage, she got stuck on the road after their car broke down she was trying to connect to ji-ho but it wasn’t going through, and she got exhausted.
“Come on sis, what happened to your phone?” she grunts angrily and waves to stop a taxi, but none was conceding. She continued to walk, and suddenly two guys from nowhere stood in front of her smiling wickedly and they look filthy.
“Hello pretty, you lost your way?” 1st guy asked grinning at her, she ignore them and turn to leave, but they block her path.
“Why are you in a rush? we promise to be gentle on you” 2nd guy said.
“What do you guys want?” she asked looking terrified.
“Just cooperate with us and lend us your bag”. 1st guy said.
” No, I won’t”. she pushed back a little and they burst into laughter.”stay away from me?” she ran off and they chase after her and grab her arm.” let go of me!” She cried out struggling with them.
“is either we do it on the easy way or the hard way,” they said and they grab her back, she struggled with them.
“let go of my bag”.
” You can scream all you want, but no one will come to save you,”.2nd guy said as they drag her into the street corner and brought out their knives, she gasps.
“Please don’t hurt me, you can take my bag, take anything, please don’t hurt me “. she sob.
” Of course”. he pushes closer to her and uses the knife to flirt her face.” you look beautiful and we don’t think we can’t let you go”. he said and they laugh viciously.
“No! Let me go”. she sobs and her pleading falls on deaf hears, she prayed silently for someone to save her, but suddenly she heard a loud thud, she opened her eyes and saw the guys groaning on the floor because someone just gave them a hard kick from behind, she turns to see who did that to them, she went stunned to see who it was.”B-Byung-ho?”. she sputtered as she saw the angry look he was giving those guys, suddenly they stood up and ran away, Byung-ho grabbed unto her hand and her luggage and walk away, and they arrived at his car packed, he turn to her quickly and pull her tight into his arms. and she sobs. after a long while, he pulls away from her and stares into her eyes.
“Are you okay? Did they hurt you?”. He asked as he clear her tears with his thumb.
” No” she sniffs and he hugs her again.
“Am so glad, you are alright”. he pats her head, After a while, they enter the car and drove off. along the road, both were stealing gazes at each other. ” do you mind telling me what you were doing alone on that lonely road”. he asked.
“Our car got spoilt on the road and I try looking for a taxi to get home, but none was stopping”.
” Why didn’t you call your sister to pick you up?”
“Well, she was supposed to be expecting me tomorrow, but something came up and I try calling her phone, but it wasn’t connecting”.
” Okay, but that was risky, don’t do that again”.
“I won’t, thank you for saving me back there”. she smiles.
” Is nothing, I am glad that you are okay, and thank God I was around the neighborhood at that time, only God knows what that two idiots were planning to do to you”.
“Am happy you came at the right time”. they smile at each other.
” So, tell me, do you come here to visit your sister or to stay fully?” he asked curiously.
“Not really, my company transfers me here for work, I think I might spend months here”.
” Really? What company is that?”
“CJ corporation, we engage in managing investment. The company through its subsidiaries operates in different types of businesses like Food and food service, retail and logistics, entertainment, media, and so on”. she said
” wow, that’s amazing”. he compliments.
“Thanks”.
” Sure, I guess we will be seeing each other more often since you will be staying long, but, I try reaching out to you many times, and I lost my phone and I couldn’t get your contact again and that kills me every day when I remember how I lost your contact”.
“You could have asked my sister about it”.
” um, yeah, about that, I couldn’t get that chance because I travel to the state and it’s not too long since I returned”.
“Wow, since when did you travel?”.
” Maybe we can discuss that during dinner next week”. he said and Si-u stare surprisedly at him. Soon they arrived at the destination. “Is this the place?” he asked as he stare amazingly at the building.
“Yes, this is where my sister lives”.
” Is beautiful”
“Thanks”. they came down and he help her with the luggage. ” thank you for your help”.
“It’s my pleasure”.
” Okay, goodnight, and drive safety”.
“Sure, but, can I get your number now?”.
“Sure” She took his phone and dail her number in it.” here you go”.
“Thanks”. he smiled at her and kissed her on the cheek.” Good night”. he enters his car and zooms off. She waves at him and then went inside. She press the bell button severally until Ji-ho came over and open the door, she went surprised to see her.
“Si-u?”.
” Hi, sis”. she smiles and enters inside with her luggage, ji-ho stares after her and then shut the door behind her.
“What happened? You told me you were coming tomorrow”.
” Yeah, something came up, besides I try calling you, but your number wasn’t connecting”.
“My battery died, why are you coming by this time? Did you get on a late-night flight?”.
” I will tell you all about it tomorrow, but now I need to freshen up, eat, and sleep”.
“Okay, I will make you something to eat”. she left for the kitchen and Si-u left for her room to freshen up.
