Chapter Fifteen
The next morning, the rays came out brightly, giving the room a cozy lived-in-air. Both were still cuddling in each other arms sleeping calmly, ji-ho opened her eyes weakly to see a familiar face close to her, suddenly, the memory of last night flashed back into her head, and she wide eyes in surprise. She tries to wriggle out of his arms quietly, but, Baek-Hyun draws her tight to himself.
“Don’t go”. he murmured in his sleep. ji-ho sighed and then quietly wriggled out of his arms and, she picked up her clothes from the floor and sneaked into the bathroom with his shirt on. a few seconds later, she came out quietly with her clothes on, she walked to open the door and Baek-Hyun stopped her.” where are you sneaking up to?” he asked and ji-ho was surprised.”why aren’t you saying anything?”. he asked again and she turns slowly to him to see him seated upright on the bed.
” um, I just wanted to take my leave”. she replied nervously.
“Why? You couldn’t even wake me up to tell me, are you trying to avoid me, after what happened between us last night?” he asked waiting for her response. no response. “Are you-” he was interrupted
“Am sorry, what happened last night was my fault, I didn’t mean to take advantage of you, I was drunk and confused, am sorry, I promise to take responsibility for my actions “. she said.
” Really? I thought we both agreed on it” He scoffed, ji-ho turned to open the door, and he stopped her.”don’t even think of opening that door” he said with so much command and anger could be heard in his voice. ji-ho froze At the spot, he climbed down from the bed and stood a little distance from her back. “Are you toying with me right now? Do you want me to have the guilt of what happened between us last night? Do you suddenly regret it?”. he asked and sighed angrily.
” Am sorry I have to go”.She tries to open the door, quickly, Baek-Hyun grabs her hand and pulls her to himself with their faces almost touching each other.
“Tell me you don’t regret what happened last night, please tell me”.
” Baek-Hyun, please stop”. she struggled to get loose from his arms.
“I can’t stop, stop pushing me away, I don’t regret what happened between us last night, it was a night to remember”. he caressed her face and stared into her eyes lovingly.
” We can’t, Baek-Hyun, please let’s stop, I don’t want you to be dragged into my predicament
“Am already in your predicament, I won’t leave your side, I will fight these hurdles with you”.
” Baek-Hyun, I– ” he shut her up with a deep and soft kiss, and she melted along with the kiss.
“I love you, I love you so much”. he said with sincerity as he pulled her into his embrace. “please stop pushing me away”. he pulled away from her and caressed her cheeks. ” I will take you home”. he pulled away from her.
Meanwhile, Mrs. I-jun drove into the building, and she came down to walk inside but stopped to see Ha-jun drive in, she was a little bit surprised. Ha-jun was surprised too as she walked up to her smiling.
“Good Morning, Mrs. I-jun”. she greeted cheerfully.
” Good Morning to you too, my dear, how was your night?” she replied cheerfully.
“Fine, I didn’t hope to see you here”. she said.
” Yeah, I came to check up on my son since he refuses to pick up his calls”.
“Really? That’s why I am here too, his phone wasn’t connecting throughout yesterday, so I was worried and I decided to come see him this morning”.
” That’s good, let’s go in then”.
” Sure”. they went inside still talking, and suddenly, they were surprised to see Ji-ho climbing down the staircase in a hurry and Baek-Hyun was trying to catch up with her.
“I told you I can take myself home”. she said and suddenly she froze to see Mrs. I-jun and Ha-jun staring at them, the look on Ha-jun wasn’t so good, it could melt someone to the ground.
“Mom?” Baek-Hyun called surprisedly as he stood behind Ji-ho’s back
“What is going on here?” Mrs. I-jun asked confusedly, Baek-Hyun tried to explain but ji-ho jumped in quickly.
“Am sorry ma, is not what you think, I was just about leaving”. ji-ho said politely.
” What do you mean is not what we think, you coming out of a man’s bedroom so early in the morning, and you are telling us is not what we think? How silly can you be”. Ha-jun blunted angrily and Baek-Hyun was surprised at her.
“Am really sorry, it was–”
“Did you have your way with him like you do with other men?” Ha-jun cut in rudely, ji-ho was hurt by the words and Baek-hyun snapped angrily at her.
“Ha-jun! Don’t you dare use such words on her ever again, do you understand that?” he said furiously and Ha-jun turned her face away nonchalantly.
“Am sorry for the trouble, I will take my leave now “. Ji-ho said as she bowed slightly to Mrs. I-jun and rushed out quickly.
” Can I talk to you privately?”Mrs. I-jun asked and then turned to Ha-jun.” Ha-jun, dear, just make yourself comfortable, I want to have a little chat with my son”. she said and Ha-jun nodded with a smile. she climbed up the stairs heading to Baek-Hyun’s room and he followed her behind.
Ji-ho came out of the building and then let out a deep sigh, she took a step forward when she heard a car hanging for her from behind.
“Miss ji-ho”. Byung-ho called out to her immediately after he got down from the car, and ji-ho turned to him.
” Byung-ho?” she called surprisedly and he moved to her smiling.
“How are you doing? You left everyone worried yesterday”.
” Yeah, but I am fine now, I was about to take a cab home”.
“don’t worry, I can drop you off ” he offered.
“Okay, thanks”. they entered the car and drove off.
Baek-hyun and his mom sat down on the couch.
” you wanna explain to me what I saw earlier? Isn’t she your former school teacher?”.
“Yes Mom, you got the word ‘former’ right, she was, but not anymore”.
” How do you mean? So, the news was true”.
“The news was a lie, Ji-ho didn’t seduce me, I was the one that went after her willingly”.
” What? Why?”. she asked confusedly.
“Because I fell for her first and I had no regret about it”.
” You know she is older than you and–.
“I don’t care mother, ji-ho is the only woman my heart beats for, she is very pure and innocent”. he said with a sigh.
” Are you trying to say the news about her is not true?”. she questions and Baek-Hyun turns to her.
“of course not Mother, she is innocent of the accusations labeled against her, she is a decent woman and I am a testify of that, I really don’t know who cooked up that story in other to ruin her image”.
” But everyone keeps talking about it and I don’t want it to affect you”.
“I don’t care, all I care about now is Ji-ho”.
” You do love her?” she smiles.
“I do mom, she makes me happy and I want to be with her in the future”. he said sadly and his mother caressed his face.
“I believe you and I will support wh@tëver decision you make, your happiness is my priority”.
” Thank you Mom” They embraced each other and then pulled away from each other arms.
“But your dad will be the problem, you should come home and try to explain things to him”. she said.
” I will Mom”. they smile at each other.
“We should go downstairs, Ha-jun is waiting for us”.
” I don’t want to talk to her, didn’t you see the way she talks rudely to Ji-ho? I can’t talk to her right now” he said unlikely.
“I know, but she is your guest, she came to see you, you shouldn’t leave her hanging”. she persuaded and he sighed.
” fine! Let me freshen up, I will meet you two downstairs”.
“Okay,”. she stood up and left.
Later in the evening, ji-ho and Si-u sat down on the roof drinking Soju along with BBQ sauce.
” eonni, do you have enemies? Do you fight with someone?”. Si-u asked and ji-ho stared confusedly at her.
“Why are you asking all these questions?”.
“Am just asking because the person that posted that thing online might be your enemy”.
” I didn’t fight with anyone and I don’t know who is it that wants to ruin my reputation, I don’t feel guilty about what they say about me, am over it already” She gulped her drink.
“But, you really have to be careful, who knows what they are planning next”. Si-u said.
