Chapter-Twenty-Nine
Baek-Hyun and his mom were still in the room having a serious discussion.
“Mom, stop giving me that look, this is the choice I made “. he said
” But is never too late to back out,” she said.”but I won’t force you, you are my son, and your happiness is my only concern”. she said with a sigh and then stood up to leave.” see you in a bit”. she left and Baek-Hyun let out a deep sigh.
Byung-ho and Si-u were standing on the balcony of the hall with a few people moving around.
“This place looks more perfect than on the inside”. Si-u said and exhaled.
” Are you ok?”Byung-ho asked as he noticed her mood.
“Yeah, am just wondering how my sister is feeling right now”. she said sadly.
” I understand, but she chose the part to end things with Baek-Hyun”. Byung-ho said trying to force the truth out of her.
“No, that is not– ” she sighs, and Byung-ho stares at her.
“Is there something you are not telling me?”
“There is no point in it anymore, Baek-Hyun is getting married in the next few hours”.
” So, there is something you are hiding, tell me si-u, I want to know everything”. he said and Si-u let out a deep sigh.
“My sister didn’t mean to leave Baek-Hyun, she loves and wants to be him, but obstacles won’t just let them be” She sniffs and turns staring at the city.
” Tell me why she left, why did she make that video of herself claiming she seduced Baek-Hyun because of his wealth”.
“Because she was forced to! If she hasn’t done it Baek-Hyun will be deprived of his inheritance and made wretched, she doesn’t want that, that’s why she left,” she said with sadness being noticed in her voice.
” I don’t understand, how do you mean?”Byung-ho asked confusedly.
“Baek-Hyun father came to my sister’s place of work to warn her against Baek-Hyun, she asked her to stay far away from his son or else he will take everything Baek-Hyun had labored for, from him, and he told her to make that video of herself, he even tried to pay her off by making her sign a contract, my sister didn’t take the money but she signs on the contract because she doesn’t want Baek-Hyun to be deprived of his access to his inheritance”. she dabs at her eyes to clean up her tears and Byung-ho was surprised.” after making that video of herself, we rushed her to the hospital because she collapsed when she plans on leaving “she got interrupted.
” What? What happened to her?” he asked feeling concerned.
“The doctor confirmed that”. She paused for a while and sniffed.” the doctor confirmed she was three weeks pregnant “. she said and Byung-ho went stunned.
“what? ji-ho is pregnant?” he sputtered surprisedly and Si-u nodded her head. “tell me, is Baek-Hyun the father of the child?”.
” Yes, She made us promise not to let Baek-Hyun know about it, because if he does, he will keep chasing after her”.
“Of my gosh!”. he said as his legs were getting weaker and Si-u grabbed his shoulders.
” Please promise me you won’t let Baek-Hyun know about this.”.
“Why? Baek-Hyun deserves to know the truth, why did ji-ho hide that from him?”.
” She did try to explain everything to him, but Baek-Hyun couldn’t give her the chance to because he chased her out of his office” ” She tried to calm him down.” please”.
“We can’t hide that from him, is about to get married to someone he felt no affection for, if he knows the truth, he will end the marriage as soon as possible”. he turns to leave, but Si-u tries to stop him, but they went stunned to see Baek-Hyun standing in front of them. He had been standing behind them for a long time when si-u started to explain the whole thing to Byung-ho, he left his room to get fresh air when he came across them on the balcony, they could see the pain and guilt in his eyes.
” Baek-Hyun”. Byung-ho called surprisedly and Si-u lowered her head then Su-ho came over to see the tension between all of them.
“Is everything ok?” Su-ho asked confusedly as Baek-Hyun pushed closer to Si-u.
“Where is she?” he asked calmly but pain could be noticed in his voice.
Meanwhile, one of Ha-jun’s friends heard everything and ran back to inform Ha-jun immediately that she saw Baek-Hyun leaving after Si-u told him where he could find Ji-ho.
“What’s going on?” Su-ho asked.
“Baek-Hyun happened to find out the truth”. Si-u said and Su-ho was surprised.
Mrs.I-jun was chatting with some guests when she caught sight of Baek-Hyun walking out of the hall in a rush with pain in his eyes, she wondered what could be wrong with him and left to find her husband. Meanwhile, Ha-jun was still chatting and smiling with her friends when the other girl rushed in panting.
” What’s the problem? who is after you?” Ha-jun asked
“Ha-jun, there is a big problem”. she said after catching her breath.
” What happened? Is Baek-Hyun ok?”Ha-jun panicked and her friends calmed her down, then the girl started to explain everything to her, and she went stunned and stood up quickly.” What?!”.
“Yes, as I am talking to you right now, Baek-Hyun is going after her”. she said, Ha-jun tried to leave but they stopped her.
“No, Ha-jun, you can’t leave “. 2nd girl said and tears fell out of Ha-jun’s eyes.
” No, this is not happening?” she sobs.
“What do we do now?” 1st girl asked. Ha-jun was quiet for a while, then she took her phone and dialed a number, it rang for a while before it was picked up.
” listen to me, I want you to do something for me, I will send you the photo of the person and where she is now, I want you to get to her first before my husband does, do you understand me?” there was a pause.” Good, I don’t care how you do it, make sure you get rid of her before my husband gets there”. she said with so much anger in her voice and then hung up staring hard at one spot.
“Calm down, everything will be fine”. they said.
” I won’t allow her to ruin everything that I have planned for”. she grunts angrily.
Byung-ho and the rest came out of the balcony scanning around the place for Baek-Hyun, then Chan-yeol came.
“Woah guys what are you all looking for?is the groom missing?” Chan-yeol asked jokingly.
“This is not time for jokes, have you seen Baek-Hyun anywhere?” Byung-ho asked
“Why? Did he finally realize he was making a great mistake and decided to back out?” he asked.
“No”. Byung-ho said and then dragged him to a quiet place to explain everything to him.
Along the road, Baek-Hyun was driving at full speed with so much pain and guilt feeling his heart, he hit his steering wheel several times after having the thought of what he did to Ji-ho at his office. The driveway to where ji-ho was an hour’s drive.
Ji-ho came out of a shopping mall and the place was not far from her parent’s house, she stood near the parkway waiting for the vehicle to stop at the green light so that she could cross to the other side, the vehicle kept pacing and the green light was faulting on its own, Ji-ho was getting tired of standing for a long time, she sighs and turns her face to her left-hand side to see a familiar car drove and parked at the corner of the alley and was a little far from where she was standing. She stared deeper and was stunned to see Baek-Hyun coming out of the car, she saw the pain and guilt in his eyes, Baek-Hyun stood by his car, and both were staring into each other eyes, it was at the moment everything around them stopped moving, Ji-ho frozen in where she was standing, she wonders if she was daydreaming or maybe just having an imagination. Baek-Hyun never left her eye, at that moment, all he wanted to do was to hug her tight and never let go, he took a step to walk towards her, but he paused as he caught sight of a moving vehicle at full speed aiming toward Ji-ho direction, ji-ho seem not to notice because all her attention was on him. he took to his heels and was running towards her to prevent her from being hit by the car, ji-ho still stood wondering if he is running to hug her, but unfortunately, Baek-Hyun was close enough to get to her and pull her aside, but he was unlucky as the car pick him up instead, he rolls over the car and fell on the ground with blood gushing out from his head down to his face, he opened his eyes weakly, Ji-ho finally realized what happened, she stares back to the road to see Baek-Hyun lifeless body on the ground.
“BAEK-HYUN!!!”. she screamed out loud and rushed to him quickly, everyone gathered around them.” Baek-Hyun please don’t do this to me, please”. she cried out as she held him on her lap, then someone called the ambulance.”No, please don’t, someone help!”. she sobs bitterly resting her face on Baek-Hyun’s face who has already blacked out.”No!!!!!!”. Not long after, the ambulance came and took him away and she followed them.
Back in the hall, everyone began to notice something was wrong, the ceremony was about to start, and the Mc had already handled the microphone and was trying to keep the hall lively.
“where could he have gone to?”Mr.Dae-jung asked as he stared at his wife who was looking tense.
” I don’t feel good about this, Hope my son is alright”. she said.
“Why will he leave without telling anyone” he sighed tiredly then Mr.Dong-Geun and his wife came over.
“What happened? Where is your son?”Mr.Dong-Geun asked already getting pissed off
” I don’t know where he is, his phone is not connecting and no one knows where he ran off to”.Mr.Dae-Jung said.
“Did something urgent come up that he had to go without telling anyone?” Mrs. Do-Yun asked confusedly and they sighed tiredly.
Ha-jun was pestering around the room and her friends were trying to calm her down.
“Why is all this happening to me, this is my day for goodness sake,” she said angrily.
“Just try to relax, everything will be fine, let me go and see if I can find out what is happening”. 3rd girl said as she left while the rest tried to calm her down.
Si-u was trying to reach Ji-ho on the phone to find out if Baek-Hyun was with her already, but it was having a network issue.
” Did she pick?”Su-ho asked.
“Is not going through”. she replied.
” I guess is a network problem”. Chan-yeol said.
“I will keep trying on Baek-Hyun’s own, it keeps disconnecting “. Byung-ho said. Suddenly, they turn to Si-u immediately she voices out hello on the phone which means Ji-ho’s number went through.
” Hello eonni”. she paused for a while.”What happened, why are you crying?”. she asked confusedly and there was a pause. “What?! She screamed in shock and everyone’s gaze was Pierce on her then she hung up and they could see the shock on her face.
” What happened?” Byung-ho asked.
“Something bad happened to Baek-Hyun “. she said tensely.
” What happened to him?”.Chan-yeol asked.
“Baek-Hyun was involved in an accident”. she said and they went stunned.
” Oh my”.Su-ho said covering her mouth.
“We have to go to the hospital now, my sister is alone “. Si-u said and they rushed down quickly, they were rushing to the door when Baek-Hyun parents stopped them.
” Where are you all rushing to?”Mr.Dae-jung asked.
“Something bad happened to Baek-Hyun, he was involved in an accident”. Chan-yeol said and everyone went stunned including the guests.
” What?”Mrs.I-jun said as she almost collapsed but her husband held her quickly.
“We are heading to the hospital now”. Byung-ho said and they all rushed out quickly, meanwhile, Ha-jun was informed of what happened to Baek-Hyun by one of her friends, and she ran out to meet her parents and they left, all the guests were still surprised murmuring towards each other.
