Chapter-Thirty-Two
Ji-ho moved back to her house and was called back to work by her manager, everything was going smoothly.
“Am so happy everything is going smoothly, finally you and Baek-Hyun are back together”. Si-u said happily as she was washing the dishes while Ji-ho sat on the couch having a fruit salad.
” Yeah, but I hope it continues like that”. she said.
“Of course, it will,” she said.”so, how are you preparing for the dinner night with Baek-Hyun’s family tomorrow?” she asked
“I don’t know, am just scared”.
” Scared of his father?”.
“Exactly! What if he did what he did before”.
” He won’t, besides his mother will be there to defend you when he tries to pick on you”.
“I just don’t want anything to go wrong”.
” Nothing will go wrong, is gonna be the best night ever and I know you will be spending a night over”. she said smiling knowingly at her.
“I won’t,”. she replied blushing.
The next day, Baek-Hyun drove into his father’s compound with Ji-ho.
” Baek-Hyun, are you sure about this? Do you think your parents will welcome me in?” she asked and Baek-Hyun could see the fear in her eyes. he smiled as he took her hand tenderly.
“Don’t be scared, I am here for you, Besides my parents invited us for dinner”. he said.
” But–” she got interrupted.
“No, but, let’s go they are waiting for us” ” He came down and moved to the other side to open the door for her, Ji-ho came down, and they walked in hand in hand, immediately Mrs. I-jun caught sight of them, she rushed to welcome them in warmly by hugging ji-ho.
” You two made it, I was beginning to have second thoughts”. she smiling.
“We are sorry Mom, there was a little traffic on the way”. Baek-Hyun said and she ushered them to the dinner Different types of meals were lavished on the table.” wow, Mom, so much food”.he added and then his father came over to join them at the dining, ji-ho was feeling a little unease, Baek-Hyun notice and took her hand on the table to calm her tension.
“Let’s eat, we can’t keep our important guest waiting”. Mrs.I-jun said referring to Ji-ho, who smiled faintly at her.
” Sure”.Baek-Hyun said excitedly as the maids dished out the food to them, they started eating and having conversations with each other. Ji-ho began to feel at ease with the way Mr. Dae-Jung was talking freely with her, some minutes later, they were done eating and they moved to the sitting room to continue with their conversation, as they were being served a fruit drink to dilute their meals.
“You are so funny, mom”. Baek-Hyun laughed at his mother’s joke.
” So, Ji-ho, how is my grandchild doing? hope you are not stressing yourself?”.Mrs.I-jun asked smiling at her and Ji-ho felt her tummy and returned the smile.
“Not at all ma, the baby is doing just that”. she said
” That’s good to know, just know that you are always welcome to come to me whenever you need anything”. she said.
“I will ma”.
“don’t worry Mom, I will always be here for her, she is my priority from now on”. Baek-Hyun said as he caressed her shoulders.
” I know son and I trust you on that “. she said and they chuckled, then Mr.Dae-jung stood up to make a phone call, Ji-ho stared after him and she could still tell by his look that he was not happy.
An hour later, Mrs.I-jun sees them off to their car after she tries persuading them to sleep over. They bid her goodbye as they enter the car and hit the road.
” I told you the dinner would go well”. Baek-Hyun said focusing on the road.
“Yeah, but I still feel your dad is not pleased with us”. she said and held her hand tenderly.
” Don’t pay attention to my dad, he might be acting stubborn at times but I know he will have no choice but to accept you”. he said politely, and ji-ho sighed.
“I hope so”.
” Don’t worry about anything”. he reassured her.
Days later, Ha-jun’s parents finally apologize to Baek-Hyun’s parents for their daughter’s misbehavior and everything was settled between them.
Ji-ho was working at her desk when the security man came to inform her that someone had come to look for her, she stood up and followed him, they got outside and she was surprised to see the person who came looking for her was no other person than Baek-Hyun’s father, he was leaning on his car, Ji-ho became scared as she walk to him. Soon, they were seated at a cafeteria near her office.
“feel at ease I am not here to scare you”. Mr. Dae-Jung said smiling at her as he noticed her being uncomfortable, just then the waiter came and served them some milkshake.” I hope this won’t be harmful to the baby because I don’t want to get scolded by my wife and son”. he said jokingly and Ji-ho smile.
“No sir”. she replied nervously.
” That’s good to know”. he said and then cleared his throat before he spoke” I know you are wondering why I brought you here, well you don’t have to worry because I am not going to yell at you or warn you against my son, but I am here to ask for your forgiveness”. he said and Ji-ho raises her face to him confusedly.” I know I was wrong by saying all those awful things to you, I wanted the best for my son and I thought you were just after his money, and I am sorry for everything, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me”. he asked sincerely and Ji-ho couldn’t believe her eyes.
“You really do not have to apologize, sir, I know you were only trying to protect your son and your family’s reputation, so I have no grudges against you”. she said.
” I am happy to hear that and I am proud of my son for picking the right choice, now I am leaving my son to you, I hope you take care of him very well”.
“I will try my best sir”.
” Don’t call me sir, you can call me dad”. he said and Ji-ho smiled happily.
“I will Dad”.
” I will like that, I know I can trust my son to you”. they smile at each other and continue talking and enjoying each other company.
Later in the day, ji-ho couldn’t help but tell her sister and also called Su-ho on the phone about her discussion with Baek-Hyun’s father, they were surprised and also congratulated her for being accepted into the Dae-Jung family.
Baek-Hyun and his friends were having a hang-out at the pub.
“So, what is the arrangement?” Chan-yeol asked.
“Well, is going to be a surprise and I– Baek-Hyun got interrupted by someone from behind.
” Hey, guys”. Min-jun said as she walked up to them, they responded to her.
“Min-jun what a surprise to see you here”. Byung-ho said.
” Yeah, I have been trying to reach you but you keep spacing me out”. she said sadly and Byung-ho sighed tiredly as his friends stared at them.
“I have been busy”. he replied.
” Busy with what? You turned me down when I invited you to dinner at my place the other day, did I do anything wrong to deserve this from you?”.
“Listen, I know you are upset ok, I — he got interrupted.
” I like you Byung-ho “. she said quickly and Chan-yeol suddenly choked on his drink, Byung-ho was surprised.” yes, I truly like you and I hope you can like me back”.
“Um,” he hesitated for a while and stood up. “I am sorry Min-jun I didn’t know you felt that way about me, but I am sorry I didn’t feel that way back, I like someone else”. he said and Min-jun stared at him surprisingly.
” You do? Who is she?”. she asked wanting to know, but with the look on his face, she quickly understood who he was referring to. “well, I guess I came too late”. she walked away angrily, Byung-ho relieved a sigh and sat down, his friends stared at him and then burst into laughter.
” What so funny?”
“I can’t believe you just ditched someone”. Baek-Hyun said.
” I didn’t ditch her, I just stated the fact, besides I never had any feelings for her, she keeps pushing her way through me”. He said as he gulp his drink.
“So, the person you like is Si-u? When are you going to admit your feelings for her?”. Chan-yeol questioned and Byung-ho gave him a hard look.” what, you know I am right, how can you be crushing on someone for five years and your instinct didn’t occur to you that you have to confess your feelings to her”. he added.
“He is right, is time to open up your heart to her before it’s too late”. Baek-Hyun said. Byung-ho stared at them for a while and he turned back to his drink reflecting on what they said to him.
A day later, Baek-Hyun was busy at his desk, when someone knocked on the door, he couldn’t ask the person to come in because he was occupied with work, Ji-ho entered and saw how focused he was on his files, she walked slowly to him and lean her face closer to the files, Baek-Hyun was caught off guard as he suddenly realized the person so closer to him, they met their gaze and she smiles lovely at him to see the surprise look on his face.
” Busy?”. she leans backward, Baek-Hyun stands up quickly and hugs her to himself.
“Oh my, how I missed you very much”. he pulled away from her and caressed her face.
” You look so occupied with work that you didn’t even notice my presence”. She said smiling.
“Yeah, am sorry”. he kissed her forehead.
” Anyway, I came to take you out for lunch”.
“Sure, let me pile this up for a moment”. he sat down and hurriedly finished his work. ” Shall we?”. he took her hand and they walked away smiling.
