THE WHITE HORSE
CHAPTER FIFTY SEVEN
Once Evenuis was sure Zelda was gone, he ran back to the castle.
He got to the short gate, only had time to think for two seconds,the next second he was jumping into the sacred castle gate, running as fast as his feet could carry him into the huge castle doors.
Searching for his King.
If he gets a death sentence after doing this, he wouldn’t mind.
Sweating profusely despite the cold weather, he ran through the unfamiliar mansion allowing his heart lead him to the right place while praying in his heart.
Getting to a door,he noticed it was slightly open.
Deciding to throw caution in the wind, old Evenius stormed into the room.
The sight before him paralyzed him.
Unconscious, King Wright was lying on the bed but that wasn’t the shocking thing.
The white horse was standing on two feet as he circled around King Wright, using his limbs (Arm) to dab King Wrights burning skin.
The horse lifted his head to look at Evenius, he already knew he was coming from the moment he crossed the gate.
You are here, he spoke nonchalantly but his mouth didn’t move.
Evenuis stood, motionless.
It was like his blood stopped flowing and his heart stopped beating.
The horse ignored Evenius and continued what he was doing, carefully, without making mistakes or tripping.
It felt like he has don’t this countless times, it looked like a routine.
Evenuis was stunned and speechless.
Is this why no one has ever treated the King before?
Does this horse…..
No…. but….
He has never seen a horse stand on two limbs before..
He knew this Horse is different but he didn’t expect a talking horse.
We are running out of time, what is keeping you from conducting the ritual? The Horse questioned, he sounded like King Wright.
Evenius who was too terrified to speak, just stared..
Which ritual?
How much does this horse know?
He is dying… does she know that?! The horse growled again.
She…. know what? Evenuis stuttered, surprised he could even speak.
Take care of him, the Horse ordered.
Before he could speak, the horse was down on all four limbs and rode out alone, right before his eyes..
Your Majesty! Evenius called breathlessly as he got on his knees and crawled to the bed.
Punishing himself for not being there for him.
His heart was thumping so loud, he was scared to death but his protective instinct was more than his fears.
He got to the bed and picked up the damp towel and continued massaging the Kings forehead and bare chest.
King Wright still remained motionless.
Tears poured out of Evenuis’ slightly saggy eyes, down his cheeks.
He felt scared.
Scared for his king.
He’s dying, yet he chose to not do the right thing.
Isn’t there any other way? He remembered asking the King when they discussed about why his health is failing.
That’s the only way but it would hurt her, was the Kings response.
Checking his temperature, he was now warm and his breathing became slightly audible.
But he was still not waking up.
Still in his kneeling position, Evenuis cupped his face on his palm, he was shivering.
Not from cold but from fear.

The white horse rode out of his castle alone which was unusual.
The maids and guards who were outside the castle bowed and left their heads bent.
No one could look directly at the magnificent horse which was adorned with gold.
Zelda was sitting with Peyton and Jade in the hut in front of the gigantic building.
She just received a red knitted scarf from Peyton who told her Jade made it herself.
She was laughing at Jade’s joke when she saw the horse stroll out.
She rose to her feet abruptly and almost ran to the horse when she remembered the conversation she had with Evenius few minutes ago.
The horse stopped in front of them and stared at her.
Does he stroll out alone? She heard Jade whisper to Peyton.
He doesn’t…. Peyton replied tracing the horses eyes to Zelda who was smiling at the horse, innocently.
What a beautiful thing… I didn’t expect him to be this cute,she spoke happily.
Cute? Jade whispered with a scoff as she glanced at Peyton who eyed her and she kept mute.
Jade and Peyton has been friends for two years, Jade saw that as an opportunity to get closer to the King so she was willing to befriend anyone who had the authority to take her to the palace.
But all her efforts to get noticed by the king proved abortive.
She was willing to give up on her dream with her father if the king noticed her atleast.
But he remained his arrogant self.
He never even glanced at her.
Yet, she kept visiting anyway.
All she wanted was to be queen, whether through her father or through the king.
She didn’t care much about her mate since she never felt any bond until few days ago.
Understanding Peyton’s gaze she smiled uneasily when she heard Peyton encourage Zelda to go ahead and touch the horse if she wanted to.
Are you sure that’s okay? Zelda asked glancing briefly at her soon to be inlaw.
Of course, she replied in a tone that gave Zelda assurance.
The horse was still looking at her.
In excitement, she ran towards the horse, wrapping the red scarf around her neck.
Maybe he would let me ride him if I impress him.
Getting closer to him, she felt chilly.
Maybe because he’s a sacred horse.
I’m sure he isn’t dangerous, she thought as she smiled at him then approached him slowly.
Seeing that the horse didn’t react, she proceeded to touch his back, then started to brush her hands on his back slowly.
Aww, Wright sure takes care of you, she whispered.
“Get In” she heard in her head.
Like someone who was hypnotized, she climbed his back as everyone watched with their heart on their hands.
Peyton smirked on her seat as she saw the horse look towards the direction he came from, then his eye landed on her (Peyton)
Neighing loudly and raising his two front limbs, the horse stormed out in speed making Zelda hold tightly onto it as she screamed hoping he would stop but he (The horse) rode faster than any horse she has ever ridden.
It was like he wanted to get her killed.
The whole palace was alarmed, everyone got confused on what to do as they heard her screaming even as they rode out of the gate.
None of them knew where the King was,no one could stop the horse except him.
All the guards ran to different directions, searching for the King as the cheif guard instructed two guards to chase after Zelda.
They might be able to catch her if she falls.
Queen who was terrified and in tears glance at Peyton and Jade and saw them smiling, bending her head quickly she ran inside the palace in search of Evenius.
He’s a faster route to the king.
The horse kept riding very fast and rough into the forest and Zelda kept screaming and begging him to stop.
She didn’t know what to do.
Jumping down wasn’t going to work.
This ain’t a movie set where she can pull such stunt calculatively.
Any wrong move, she knew she was going to fall real hard and she would definitely get badly injured as the forest was filled with trees and dried sticks on the ground.
She kept bouncing and screaming but she held on tight.
Where are you taking me?!

Oh my God, I’m going to die!
Help!

Help! she kept screaming on top of her voice.
From a distance she sighted the end of the road as they climbed the hills, where was he taking her?
Is there a river behind this hill?
Is that a dead end or he wants to throw her off from there? she thought as fear gripped her.
Oh Lord, please forgive me, she prayed aloud.
Help Me! She dreamed again when they got close.
Wright!!! She screamed on top of her voice.

King Wright snapped his eyes open and he shook in fright.
Your Majesty! Evenius screamed raising his head to see the King standing up.
Your Majesty? he called standing up too.
Where is he? The King asked and Evenius freaked out as he remembered the horse he saw when he came in here.
You mean the….
Where did he go?! King Wright screamed.
He asked me to take care of you then he went out, Evenuis rushed his words.
His own words sounded strange to him, a horse asking him to take care of the King.
That’s weird and scary.
King Wright cursed as he threw his clothes back on, and in lightening speed he dashed out.
He was speeding so much that the maids and guards he passed only felt the breeze from his clothes or his garment flap their arms but didn’t see anything.
The disturbing cry for help he heard kept him on the edge as he raced out.

After screaming Wright Zelda collapsed on the horses back but the horse didn’t stop.
Like she thought.
There was a large river down the hill.
That was where the horse was taking her.
Neighinloudly again, he lifted himself and jumped into the river from the high hill.
The water splashed loudly and silence followed.
