CHAPTER SIXTY FIVE
While the chaos was going on in the palace, Peyton dressed up as a maid again and left the palace with the bloody carved wood, Zelda’s hair strands and worn cloth.
Now that Zelda was unconscious was the perfect time to use her.
She can only enter her unconscious state to be able to make her work with her.
She already got her permission to access the barrier but if she was awake, it won’t work because Zelda is one with the barrier.
She would automatically detect it when someone tries to break through and she would be in control.
She met Jade at the agrred spot and together they left.
Because of the commotion in the palace, coupled with the wedding preparation, there were less guards on the way.
When they got to the border, there was only one guard there, Duke.
The first guard who was assigned to watch her but she managed to threaten him using his family like she did with Edna and he had to let her do what she wants while he tells Hadrian she visits her friend.
Seeing them, he bowed without a word then he turned and left the border for them.
He wasn’t going to be a party to it but he was going to turn a blind eye.
Smiling, Jade rushed to the border.
This feels surreal, she said smiling happily at the border.
Unlike Zelda who smiled because the barrier was beautiful, she was smiling because they were so close to the end of the fight which she’s prepared herself for since she was 13
She couldn’t wait to be Princess Jade and then Queen when she gets married to her mate.
Her dad would finally be King, she thought while she watched Peyton get prepared to summon unconscious Zelda with her permission and personal belongings.
She (Peyton) smirked when she recalled how she got her permission.
While they were sitting at the small hut few days ago, they were eating apples together and she was the one with the knife peeling the apple when she intentionally let the knife cut her.
The cut produced a lot of blood frightening Zelda who tried to help but she mistakenly got scratched with the knife.
It was just a scratch so her own blood wasn’t much.
To Zelda, it was a mistake but Peyton knew what it meant to make a promise with blood.
Their blood got mixed on the knife and that was when she asked.
You seem to be good at this, hope i can come to whenever I need help? She asked this when Zelda was about to use a piece of clothing she provided to wrap her cut.
Zelda had agreed, thinking the help she meant was about the wound but Peyton was smart enough to specify.
Now she needs her help, she can summon her in her unconscious state and she would be here without questions or restrictions.
She smirked as she sat on the floor with her legs crossed as she began calling on Zelda.
It didn’t take time, Zelda was standing right there staring at her, waiting to be commanded.
She knew she had to be quick, if Zelda gets treated by her mate, which seems impossible because she got a report that the King is sick and maybe dying, she would wake up faster than when its the physician.
Quickly, she looked Zelda in the eyes and ordered her to open the border.
Nodding, Zelda turned, faced the border amd started to unseal.
This time it was faster because in her unconscious state, she didn’t need to think of yet confused about how to do anything.
It was inside of her soul.
In seconds she was done and at the other side of the border, stood Saraphina and Ricardo.
Slowly, Ricardo helped the old looking and weak Saraphina into the border while glancing at the faces before him.
Seeing him, Peyton smirked.
What a fool, she muttered before faking a smile at him.
Glancing blankly at them, Zelda waited for them to cross then she started sealing the border.
Ricardo stared at her, her very long hair covered her face and she was dressed in a long bloody robe, so she looked totally unfamiliar.
He knew Blue had very little white hair so he was sure she wasn’t the one.
Where is Blue? was the first question he asked still staring at Zelda who was sealing back the border.
What are you staring at? Jade asked instead of answering his question.
Her? Ricardo said pointing at Zelda who was backing them.
You can see her? Jade asked with wide eyes.
What do you mean, I can see her? There’s a woman standing right here with long white hair, why is she bleeding anyway? he asked and the three of them were visible shocked.
He stared at them confised.
Thats a soul… you aren’t supposed to see her! Jade half yelled and Saraphina stared at both Jade and Peyton.
Peyton seemed as confused as all of them.
Ricardo is human… he isn’t supposed to see Zelda because what they summoned was her soul not her body.
How come he sees her? Peyton thought staring at Zelda without speaking.
Zelda who was already done, turned around to face Peyton then bowed.
Nice work, Zelda, she said with a smirk and Zelda nodded innocently.
You can return to your body now….. Temporarily, she added with a smirk and Zelda bowed again then glance at Ricardo.
She stared at him for a short while then looked away,bowed again then started to walk away, she was on barefoot.
What do you mean temporarily?
Wait…. Zelda? Ricardo asked them.
Is that Blue? he asked but Peyton just smirked.
We have to get you prepared, she said referring to Saraphina.
She has to regain her strength if she was going to fight Zelda.
It was already 2am, it would be morning soon, all they had was a day before the wedding which is their D Day.
I asked a question, is that Blue? Ricardo barked.
He didn’t have any business with their plans which he doesn’t even know about.
All he wanted was to get Zelda out of there.
If that’s Blue then its better they leave now that they are still at the border.
If Blue is who I think it is then, yes, that’s her… but its merely her soul, she won’t recognize you, Jade whispered and his question widened.
What have you done to her? he yelled pushing Peyton.
But Peyton just stared.
Glancing at Zelda, she was till walking, slower than a snail, on barefoot.
No! He screamed in his head running after her.
The moment he got to her… Blue he called stopping behind her.
He didn’t know how he was aupoosed to interact with a soul or how to get her back to her body.
Was she already dead?
Did they already kill her? He thought in fright.
Blue?
Can you hear me? he asked and she stopped.
She heard me! he thought his heart easing a little but he still had the fear that she might be dead and he was already late..
He was still behind her.
Zelda who previously had a blank expression on her face, was looking sad this time.
Since none of them could see her face,she didn’t have the need to hide her expression.
Why are you here, Ricardo? she asked in a whisper and he almost fell in shock.
Blue? he called, he had a lot of things to say to her but he couldn’t even speak.
You need to return, she whispered again.
Why? I came to get you…. what have they done to you? he asked not knowing if he should touch her… is it even possible to touch a soul.
I’m fine, you have to leave,she said still not turning.
No, I have to take you with me, how do I get you back to your body, tell me amd I will do wh@tëver it takes to save you,he pleaded in a whisper too.
Leave Riacrdo, its dangerous here,come to me when you are ready to leave,I will get you out,she said and without waiting for his response, she vanished leaving him standing confused.
Why is she asking me to leave?
Where did she go to?
How do I get to her? he asked in his head.
He already heard a lot of things about this world so hearing words like souls and seeing people vanish wasn’t goimg to come as a shock to him but he was confused about something.
The girl told him she’s merely a soul and won’t recognize him, how did she remember him then?
He was still thinking and staring at where she stood when he heard Peyton speak behind him.
I don’t have the whole day, she said and Jade grabbed his hand and they all vanished, teleporting to the heart of the forest together.
They were going to perform a ritual on Saraphina then feed her some blood so she could regain her powers.
Why are we here? Ricardo asked but nobody answered him.
Peyton was looking around the bushes for herbs while Jade already left.
She was going to lure their victims out then lead them to Saraphina.
What are you going to do about Lancelot, we need him, Saraphina asked Peyton but she kept mute.
She had alot to do before tomorrow,her mind was solely on her mate, Wyatt, she needed to get him out,that’s only when she would be fulfilled.
To her, that’s what this whole killings and drama is about.
Thats all that mattered.
Ricardo sat on the rock he saw,clutching his backpack which he came with, he thought the journey was going to last for days so he packed a few things but immediately he got to the bush part Saraphina told him to wait,she was already there.
He didn’t know how she managed to get out and he didn’t ask.
She had held his hand along side a bird that didn’t seem familiar to him, it wasn’t the same bird he helped her send out, it was a different one.
Before he could blink they were already standing at the border, waiting.
In a short while, Jade was back with three girls and a boy, then Peyton who already prepared herbal drink for Saraphina ordered Ricardo to leave.
Without a question, he walked away.
He didn’t have any business with them.
All he needed was Blue, once he gets her, they can destroy the kingdom if they want.
Back at the palace, Zelda showed up back in the room, not the physicians room but King Wrights secret room..
You are here, King Wright said standing to go to her.
But she looked sad.
Seeing Ricardo and not being able to help him by sending him back, broke her heart.
Unlike what they thought, she didn’t go to them as a soul.
After she lost consciousness, the guard carrying her bumped into her mate who took her from him and instructed him to leave.
Alone, he took her and teleported to his secret room, the same room he treated Evenius.
He was so furious, he knew they were going to come for her that was why he specifically instructed Hadrian to inform the maids about the wedding but he never expected they would go as far as stabbing her.
He h@tëd himself for not being there when it was him who set the trap.
Zelda was already awake with her wound healed up completely about 30 mins before she was summoned..
He sat beside her with his hand on her shoulder, patting her as she cried.
He didn’t ask her not to cry.
He knew she needed to cry so she won’t end up breaking down later.
She had loved Edna despite what Edna was willing to do to her.
She blamed herself for not seeing her death earlier, she would have tried to avoid it at all cost but at the time she saw it, it was impossible to stop it especially when she didn’t know where, when or how it would happen.
She even asked her to come to the same room the culprit was, without knowing.
Now she’s the one alive but Edna was dead.
She cried for few minutes then wiped her tears and faced King Wright.
I won’t let them go scott free Wright… I will avenge Edna, she said with determination.
Poor Edna was used.
She was threatened to do those things if not her mother who was her only family will die.
She knew she couldn’t hide her mother from Peyton, the only thing to do to protect her was to do what she was asked.
She had thought all she needed to do was provide them with informations, her hair strands and clothes.
She didn’t know she was going to be asked to stab her.
Maybe she would have carried out the killing to save her mom and herself if Zelda turned out to be a bad person
When she met Zelda, her views about life changed.
Not every one with authority abuses it.
All maids and slaves were treated differently, like they had plagues.
But Zelda didn’t mind.
She smiled with her, hugged her, showed her concern.
She couldn’t kill such a person to live.
She was going stop them, she wanted to stop them but she probably wasn’t born lucky.
But she was happy to see her Queen alive, her own life didn’t mean much anyway.
Both Zelda and her mate knew this… and even if King Wright didn’t have a reason to take a liking to a maid, he was grateful to this maid.
She did something heroic, its just too sad she didnt live to be rewarded, King Wright thought with a sigh.
I need you to know that I know what you are thinking, he whispered taking her hands.
You want revenge, that’s okay… I do not mind that but if you do this solely with revenge on your mind, it could consume you, I don’t want you to do something you would have to regret, he whispered again kissing her knuckles.
I know, she whispered too taking a deep breath.
Come here,he said and she shifted towards him, smiling he hugged her briefly then kissed her hair.
You ready? he asked and she nodded.
They will be summoning you soon, you know that right? he asked and she shook her head.
How will they do that?
He asked her about all that happened that day and she took her time to narrate everything to him.
Wait… did you say she had a cut? He asked and she nodded.
And you too had a cute? With the same knife?
Yes, is there a problem? she asked and he shook his head.
I need you to think clearly, try to remember okay, he said and she nodded with creased forehead.
Did her blood by any chance touch your own cut?
Or did yours by any chance touch her cut? he asked and she stared in confusion.

Like when you were cleaning her wound, did you do that with your bloody hand? he asked.
I don’t think so, but I remember I was trying to wrap her hand when I had the cut.
I sucked on it because it was little then I carried on with treating her, it was the drop of blood on her palm that made me know I was bleeding again, she said then her hand went to her mouth.
My blood must have mixed with hers! she said and King Wrights eyes daeted around, he was thinking
Is it dangerous? Am I in danger? she asked.
I need you to confirm that, he said standing up.

He briefed her on what to do when she’s summoned.
She would summon her but instead of her soul, she would teleport there, completely sane but she has to act like she isn’t.
That way she can save herself if Peyton tries something funny.
About how to confirm the blood….? she asked.
You will hear it boil within her if you stand very close to her.
If your blood is really in her system, it will boil whenever you are close to her and you would hear it.
But if hers got into yours,she will be the one to hear it boil inside you, her mate replied coming back to her.
I will be with you, but be careful, he said touching his chest then asked her to lie on the bed while they waited to be summoned.
Now she was back, looking sad.
Whats wrong? he asked walking to her and embraced her.
What happens if a human steps foot in this kingdom? she asked and he pulled away slowly and stared at her.
He could hear her thoughts,she was scared for Ricardo.
Do you want to hear the truth? he asked and she nodded desperately.
The human is going to die, he said without twisting his word.

Can’t we help him?
I’m sure I can help him, she said.
He can’t be helped, King Wright said taking her to a seat, they were still in the secret room.
No one outside knows if she’s awake or not.
Sit, he instructed and she sat on the bed, he sat beside her
All he wants is to take you back with her, he said and she stared at him.
How did you know what he wants,do you know him? she asked in surprise.
Uh? Uhm… I told you….. I will be with you, he lied.
He was with her but what he meant by being with her is he would hear her cry for help or know when she’s scared, anywhere he is.
He didn’t mean he was going to go with her but he had to make her believe thats what he meant..
She’d get very uncomfortable if she find out he’s been hearing her thoughts.
The stupid, the funny, the weird and sensible, he has been hearing everything.
Oh… She said, believing him.
How about i send him back? she asked.
I’m not sure you would succeed with that.
Why?
I wouldn’t go back without you if i were him.
The same way the human world sucks up our powers little by little, that’s the same way this realm takes up human energies.
Their manmade objects won’t work here, humans can’t exist here for long, this realm will reject him sooner than his world rejects us because he’s a mere human, powerless.
Saraphina wouldn’t tell him that because she needed his help to get here, he replied.
Oh no, Zelda exclaimed face palming herself.
They both sat in silence, while Zelda thought, he listened.
Conversations and understanding between them has and will alwaus be easy because he knows exactly what’s on her mind and he knows the moment they get through the mating process, she would start to hear his too.
She had so many thoughts in her head.
He was glad she was thinking about how to get strong enough to fight them.
How to get strong enough to protect the people she loves, including him.
How to save Ricardo.
What it meant for her blood to be in Peyton body?
She had heard her (Peyton’s) blood boil when she stood beside Peyton at the border.

If it was possible for Peyton to use her blood against her.
Does Peyton have any weakness?
Whats Saraphina’s weakness?

Will there be a real war?
What will Peyton awaken when she tries to awaken her mate?
Will Wyatts spirit leave the horse?
Too many thoughts were going on in her head.
Her dad, Mia… she wondered if they were okay.
She wondered if Saraphina did anything to them since she escaped.
Is Ricardo crazy? she screamed in her head.
Of everything that annoyed her, Ricardo foolishly joining hands with evil out of desperation was sickening but she couldn’t let him die.
She needed to save him but she didn’t even know how to.
Are you hungry? King Wright who was almost getting worried with her due to her worry filled thoughts, asked.
She shook her head….Teach me, how to fight, she said and he smiled.
He’s been waiting for her to get ready mentally,he didn’t want to impose it on her,else she wont learn.
He mind linked Evenius who was standing guard alone outside.
He asked him to come in and he did.
My Queen, he called worriedly.
I’m fine now, she replied with smile and he nodded.
I’m glad, he said with his usual smile.
He knew she would be fine in minutes as long as she was brought to this room.
It was to him, a miracle room.
Its still the same room where his life span was extended,he lived to see his queen all thanks to the huge man in this room.
King Wright who was listening to his thoughts against his will, smiled.
Get the herbs and medicines then ask the maid to have water heated up, have them delivered to this room personally, he instructed and Evenius bowed.
Yes, Your Majesty, he replied then turned to leave..
Find out where they are and what they are doing then have Hadrian guard the door while you stay in here, King Wright ordered
Yes, Your Majesty.
Zelda watched him leave, then asked.
What are the herbs for? I’m alright.
Edna wasn’t the only informant she had.
And? Zelda asked King Wright who shook his head then looked out the window
