Soon, They were on the road but unluckily for them, Newton came at a stop due to the heavy traffic.
“Assuming, My motorcycle was intact, I could have gone through this traffic” She whispered staring at the window.
Newton looked at the other side, His left hand was on the steering wheel while his right hand was on his lip as he placed his elbow comfortably on the window.
Samantha brightened up having thought of something to keep the mood lively. She stared at him quickly and tapped him lightly.
“What’s it?” Newton asked turning to her.
“Can I ask some questions? Please, Don’t take any point… It’s just boring that’s–
“Ask” He interrupted. Samantha looked into his eyes and smiled.
“What of your girlfriend?” Samantha asked straight forward.
“My what?…How did you know I’m dating someone?” He asked.
“Oh my? Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten so fast? Remember when I caught you getting sanitary pads–
“Oh!” He remembered now. He felt embarrassed already, He coughed out his throat loudly. “So? Why are you asking?” He added.
“It’s just I’ve never seen her before, I’m curious about her. I’m seriously anxious to know the kind of girl you are dating” Samantha replied still smiling. Newton looked at her and sighed.
“She’s ignoring me for sometime now” His voice was sad. Samantha’s happy face vanished. She looked calm, She turned her gaze to him.
“What? Oh.. Geez, I’m sorry for asking–
“It’s okay… I’m sure she got her reason, I’m gonna visit her soon…I’m really anxious too– about her well being, You know… I love her so much,, If she leaves me… I don’t know— He paused and breathed heavily. In any moment, He might allow a tear to escape.
“The sanitary pad is still in my house” He added looking in front.
“Huh? Why?” Samantha asked
“She didn’t take it. Should I just put it this way,, Rather she was even surprised why I bought it despite her request for it. Do you wanna know what she told me?” He asked now looking at her. Samantha looked back.
“What did she say?” Her voice was soft.
“It’s weird–He sniffed and turned in front again. “She said I should keep the pad well, And it could come in handy next time…. Do you know what that means?”
Samantha turned her gaze off him. “Maybe she wants to break up,, and wants you to start dating?” She answered.
He scoffed loudly. “Its She or No-one,,……
What about you, Do you like someone too?”
Samantha looked at him, laughed softly and nodded.
“Who’s the girl? Is she a famous one?” Newton asked curiously.
“Yeah, Very famous… and a celebrity like you too” She replied
“Really? Who’s it then, Since it’s a celebrity… I might know who she is”
“I’m not gonna tell you but you guys are kinda close”
“Huh? Really? You are making me curious..What’s her name, Huh?”
“Huuunnnhihhhhh!! It’s a secret too!”
“Aiish! So annoying! When did you guys start dating?” Newton asked
“We aren’t dating, Not yet”
“What? Why? Are you guys just friends with benefits?” He giggled.
“No,, It’s more like a unrequited love”
“What??..You got rejected or you haven’t told her yet?” He asked almost laughing.
Samantha shaked her head.
“Not really, I haven’t told him…i mean, her already” She replied.
“You should tell her, If she’s celebrity… Many will be wishing to have her,, Are you sure she’s a celebrity? and even close to me for that matter?”
“No more talks… See, The road is almost clear!” She exclaimed. Newton looked and switched on the car engine. The traffic had started reducing little by little.
In no time, They found themselves on the highway running fast and smoothly.
“Where do you live?” He asked.
“You know where Brooklyn’s Restaurant is, right?” She asked back.
Newton nodded and stepped on it making the car speed faster. He pressed a button on the car which made the roof top cover open.
“Whoaa!! This is why I love sports car!” She shouted happily.
“Hey! Hey! What are you doing?” Newton asked stealing glances at her and at the same time in front, in case of an accident.
Samantha totally ignored him and removed the seat belt on her.
“Put that on!” He warned possibly feeling scared.
“Please, Don’t mind me and focus on your driving” She replied still feeling over joyous. She stood up and popped her head from the top. She looked forward and smiled feeling the rushing breeze on her. Her short hair couldn’t help but move backwards following the rhythm of the strong air.
“I love this!” She yelled placing her both palms at the end of her mouth as if she was expecting an echo.
Samantha looked at her and laughed.
“Whoooaaaa!” Samantha yelled in happiness as she spread her hand wide feeling the wind on her.
