“Pttff! Ha Ha Ha Ha!!” Carly clearly heard Adam’s hysterical laughter. She found this very obnoxious.
“Why are you laughing, Sir?” Carly asked somewhat annoyed
“Hey? What do you take us for? Do you think we are detectives for nothing? Or do you think our uniforms are sold any how on the streets?” He continued laughing that even the others joined. Carly and her father kept looking at them.
“Sir? Please, I think you should explain to us rather than laughing. Don’t you think Carly is right?” Mr Brooklyn asked
“Okay.. Okay–Adam paused and sniffed loudly trying to stop his never ending laughter.
“Actually, We knew this already! Yeah, She came from the other seat not the driver–
“So? Don’t you think what I said makes sense?” Carly interrupted
“Goodness, I found that before you! But I must confess, You’re very observant and smart”Adam smiled. Carly looked at him with her serious face.
“Explain” She simply commented. Adam sighed and touched the laptop screen.
“When I noticed this, I asked her who was in the driver’s seat.. Do you wanna know her response?” Adam asked mischievously.
“Sir, Please… Tell us” Carly retorted with all seriousness.
“Her reply was……
FLASH BACK**
“It was me” Myles replied Adam with a sly look on her face.
“How is it you? Huh? How? I don’t get you anymore!” Adam exclaimed
“Ahjussi(Mister/Very Older Man)…You told me to confess and that what I did. What else do you want?”
“Yeah. I did tell you to confess but do you know what “confession” means?” He asked standing up and placing his both hands on the table.
“Saying wh@tëver?”
“No.. Truth Telling,, Say nothing but the truth, Myles Coco”
“Darn it, What’s up with you? What more do you want, Ahjussi!”
“Okay.. Okay.. Let’s say you are saying the truth” He started inhaling deeply.
“Why did you have to get out of the car from the other side, The passenger seat?” He added
“What?”
“Answer me?”
“Uhh… The door, It was stucked…I didn’t know what else to do so I simply took the other door”
“Oh I see”
“Yeah”
“Well… I’m gonna record your confession now” Adam said writing on the note book on the table.
“I’m done” He added looking at her.
“Happy now? Can I go?” She asked standing up. The prison warden came in to the interrogation room in order to escort her. She was about leaving with him when Adam’s voice stopped her;
“Are you sure it’s the truth?”
“Ahjussi, Please… Mind your business”
“But what if you regret it?” He asked ignoring her former response. This time, Myles looked behind to face him.
“I’m not gonna regret it” She replied with a nice smile and finally left.
PRESENT DAY**
Carly looked at Adam and threw her face back to the video which was paused already. She clenched her fist, bit her lips hard and closed her eyes trying to think.
“Ouuuhh!” She groaned painfully holding her head.
“Hey! Hey! Sweetheart? You okay?” Her father asked worried.
“I’m fine” She replied with a sigh.
“Is it the headache again?”
“No.. I’m fine Dad. Seriously” She replied with a smile.
“Sir, Can we reverse the video and check it again?” She asked turning back to Adam.
“Well.. As you wish. I’ve checked a lot of times but I haven’t got a single thing. It’s clueless” He replied biting his fingers. He started the video and refreshed it once again.
Carly slightly opened her lips, moving her eyes to and fro. She refused to blink as well.
“Wait a minute” She paused the video quickly
“What? What? Did you find something?” Adam asked narrowing his eyes.
“Sir? Did you notice this? The Brakes?”
“Huh? The brakes? No.. I didn’t notice that. What happened?” He asked watching that part.
“The car brakes was applied forcefully as if someone hit it…The driver didn’t hit it. Instead, The passenger did…Look, Can you see how fast and sharp the car pulled its brakes?” Carly asked.
“No. That doesn’t matter”
“What? What do you mean by that? Is it because it isn’t really a big evidence or what?”
“No. I’m just thinking the driver was shocked and decided to pull the brakes hard which made it come out this way” He explained
“Sir, Keep your explanation. I’m gonna keep mine. We have different theories” Adam smiled
“Wow. I like this. A little girl competing with me.I’m wowed and impressed…Okay then, Let’s bring the game on” Adam said childishly.
Carly smiled and turned to look at the laptop screen again.
Suddenly, She noticed something weird and paused it immediately. Her eyes blinked suprisedly. She swallowed hard.
“Huh? Sir.. Can you zoom that please?” She asked pointing.
Adam looked at where her cute innocent finger was pointing. It was pointing at the car’s transparent back glass.
Carly could swear she noticed something. Adam nodded and zoomed the paused video.
“What the–?” Carly whispered with her eyes opened wide in shock. (P.S ?: It’s gonna continue in the next chapter)
