👥 Whoooohoo!!!
They screamed as the roller coaster went higher
and higher.
“Ahhh!!! Mommy!!!” Pierce screamed in fear,
hugging Aubrey tightly. He was scared of
heights.
Aubrey laughed.
“Whoa!!!” Starr and Snowy screamed, their faces
filled with smiles and the sweet breeze blowing
their hair.
It should be the best night for them.
The ride came to a stop and they got down.
Immediately Pierce landed on earth, he began
vomitting.
“What the hell! Are you alright?” Snowy asked.
“Obviously, he has phobia for heights.” Starr
said and Snowy gasped.
“Why would you join us if you’re scared?” Snowy
asked.
“Obviously, he doesn’t wanna feel left out.” Starr
shrugged.
“Shut the Füçk up dude!” Pierce yelled, coughing
again.
Aubrey handed him a bottle of water.
“Geez, don’t come with us if you’re fun-sick, can
believe you’re such a partypooper.” Snowy
scoffed.
“Are you okay?” Aubrey asked and Pierce
nodded.
“But what’s with you two tho?” Snowy asked
and Pierce smirked.
“Isn’t it obvious?” Pierce asked and Starr shook
his head.
“Nothing is obvious. All I see is a playboy
claiming to be in love. Don’t get deceived
Aubrey.” Starr said and Pierce gritted.
“You dipstick!” Pierce punched Starr’s shoulder
and Snowy returned the punch immediately.
“Ouch! What was that?” Pierce yelled.
“How dare you hit him?!” Snowy yelled back.
“Like seriously!!” Pierce gasped.
“I’m gonna kíll you if it turns out you’re playing
with my friend’s heart. Let’s go Aubrey.” Snowy
said holding Aubrey’s hand with one hand and
the other wrapped Starr’s arms.
The three walked away leaving Pierce standing.
“For real?” Pierce blinked.

<AMUSEMENT PARK ** TEXAS>
“Do we really have to come all the way to Texas
just to visit the amusement park? There are alot
in LA.” Nico said as Rayne dragged him in.
“I know right. But this is my favourite, I always
come here with my mom when I was a kid. I
don’t know why, but no other park gives me alot
joy like this.” Rayne said and Nico only looked
at her – speechlessly.
She dragged him to the counter and they bought
their tickets.
“That’s the ice cream over there. Let’s go!”
Rayne pulled him to the ice cream counter and
they bought two.
Nico took one and Rayne took the other.
“Oww, ow ow…. it’s chilly.” Rayne whined and
Nico collected it from her with a laugh.
“Is it chilly or you just want me to feed you?”
Nico asked and she pouted.
“Okay, you caught me.” Rayne said and they
both laughed.
Nico extended the ice cream towards her as if to
give her and when she opened her mouth, he
smeared it on her cheek.
“Nico!” She whined.
“Sorry, my hand trembled. Ah…” He said and she
opened her mouth again but he smeared her
other cheek this time.
“Ah! Nico!” She whined again and Nico laughed.
She feigned a frown, folding her hands
underneath her Brë@št.
“Okay, I’ll give you this. No more plays.” He said
and extended the ice cream to her and
immediately she opened her mouth, he smeared
the ice cream all over her nose and lips.
“Nico!!!” She yelled and Nico stuck his tongue at
her before running away, giggling.
Rayne chased after him. “I swear I’m gonna kíll
you if I catch you!” Rayne yelled.
“Huh? Isn’t that Rayne?” Max asked.
“And Nico.” Baby completed, looking at the two
who were running around like dovey lovers.
Rayne suddenly caught Nico and he pulled her
by her waist. They began saying something
which they couldn’t hear and suddenly, Nico
kissed Rayne.
Baby and Max gasped.
“What the heck!” Max exclaimed.
“Aren’t they cousins?” Baby asked Max who was
stupified as well.
“That’s what I thought… How could they be… Oh
my world.” Baby muttered.
Nico broke the kiss with a naughty smile and
Rayne huffed.
“You think doing this will make me forgive you?”
She asked and Nico smirked.
“I don’t think, I know.” He grinned.
“Aish,you proud punk.” She scoffed and smiled.
“Why are you so cute? I can’t even get mad at
you when I want to?” Rayne pouted, cupping his
cheeks.
“My cute gummy bear.” Nico said placing his
head on hers.
“Boo bear.” Rayne mouthed, rubbing her head
on his at the same time caressing his cheeks.
They kept on calling each other cute names and
playing like that till they heard the clearing of
throat beside them.
They immediately disengaged the moment they
saw Max standing there with Baby.
“Max… What are you two doing here?” Nico
asked first.
“Is it written anywhere that we shouldn’t be
here?” Max asked.
Rayne looked at Baby who was giving her this
look that could kíll.
“Okay, I think we’ve got a fun to catch. Bye Max!
Bye kid!” Rayne said and made to run with Nico,
but Max dragged Nico back by his collar and
Baby did the same to Rayne.
“Kid? Huh?” Baby scoffed.

Rayne, Nico, Max and Baby sat round in a small
snacks shop, not far from the amusement park.
“Start speaking.” Max said, drinking a bottle of
apple juice.
“Actually… Nico is my boyfriend.” Rayne said.
“How’s that possible when you two are
cousins?” Baby asked.
“We’re not!” The two said at the same time.
Baby and Max exchanged glances.
“How’s that possible?” Max asked.
“We were never cousins, you misinterpreted
everything.” Nico said to Max who blinked.
“Me?? How??”

FLASHBACK ** GRADE 9
“Nico, the entrance examination results are out,
did your cousin make it?” Max asked.
“Hey, why are you so interested in my cousin?”
Nico asked and Max smirked.
“Isn’t it obvious? I wanna get a girlfriend.” Max
said.
“Never, can not be my cousin.” Nico said and
walked away.
NEXT DAY**
The two were walking to the cafeteria when
suddenly…
“Nico!!” Someone yelled and the two turned to
see Rayne, she wasn’t in school uniform.
Nico gasped.
“Is that your cousin?” Max asked but Nico didn’t
reply.
Rayne rushed to him.
“When did you get here? You never told me you
were coming to Cupid High.” Nico said and
Rayne grinned.
“I wanted to surprise you. Hi.” She waved at
Max.
“Hey, you’re Nico’s cousin?” Max asked and
Nico immediately shook his head.
“No! She’s my…”
“Yeah! I’m his cousin!” Rayne cut in and Nico
stared at her with widened eyes.
END OF FLASHBACK*
“What!” Baby and Max gasped.
“Yeah.” Nico muttered.
“But why would you lie about such thing?” Baby
asked.
“Because, at that time. My parents were strictly
against dating and the school I was coming
from, dating was a sin so I thought it was the
same in Cupid High.” Rayne said.
“And of all things, you came up with cousins?”
Max scoffed.
Rayne pouted.
“Then what happened to your cousin you talked
about?” Max asked.
“Her parents didn’t let her come to Cupid High
anymore.” Nico said and Max looked at him.
“C’mon, we’re sorry. Not like we’re the only one
at fault here. What are you doing with her? Are
you two a thing now or something?” Rayne
asked, referring to Baby and Max.
“Seriously? Are you questioning us now?” Max
blinked.
“Why would you even think I’ll have something
to do with this nincompoop?! You’re degrading
my status.” Baby scoffed.
“Really, talking of degrading? I can’t stand the
sight of you talk more of calling you my
girlfriend.” Max said.
“Wow, look who’s talking? Coz you’ve never had
someone to tell you how horrible you look. Geez,
I’m short of words.” Baby said fanning herself.
“When you’re short, you don’t expect to be tall of
words do you?” Max said and Baby gritted.
“How dare you?!” Baby growled.
“If you’re angry, fight with my knees shortie.” He
said.
By this time, Rayne and Nico had already
sneaked their way out and currently they were in
a rollercoaster.

<MYLES’ MANSION>
The doorbell chimed and Starr went to get it.
He was surprised to see Brittany at the
doorstep.
“What are you doing here?” Starr asked and
Brittany pressed her lips.
“I only came to apologize. I promise I won’t take
time.” She said and Starr stared at her.
“Okay.” Starr said, relaxing on the door.
“I know it’s foolish of me to stand in front of
you, but that’s all I can do. I won’t be able to
leave with a free heart if I don’t do this.” She
said.
“I’m sorry Starr. I don’t know what came over
me. I didn’t know I could go to such extent, but
I’ve always loved you right from the day I
stepped into Cupid High. I really wanted to he
your friend but you never gave me a chance but
you let her when she just showed up. I was
angry… I always wondered if she was better
than me, but then… No! She wasn’t, but you still
chose her. It hurts.” Brittany said.
“I should have left Cupid High long ago, but
because of you I stayed back hoping one day
you would reciprocate the love or better still, we
became friends. That would have been enough
for me, but you never gave me anyone and I felt
like a trash. Like I wasn’t friend worthy or
something. I know this might sound like a silly
excuse, but that’s how I felt. I’m not trying to
blame you or anything. It happens I didn’t know
anything about you. And I’m sorry.” She added.
“I’ll be leaving for Australia tomorrow and won’t
be back till I’m done with college. I just wanted
to clear things between us and I hope if we meet
again in future, we would be friends. Once
again, I’m sorry… I know I sound pitiful right
now. Silly me… Thanks for your time. Bye!”
Brittany said and turned around.
“Brittany!” Starr called and she stopped
“I never thought of you as not friend worthy and
never h@tëd you. I also hold no grudge against
you. I hope we become friends in the future, but
for now. Goodbye and take care.” He said and
Brittany smiled with tears rolling freely down her
cheeks.
She nodded affirmatively. “Thanks Starr.” She
said before walking away.
Starr sighed.

<ROAD>
Pierce was walking in the small alley that led to
his house when some group of boys blocked his
way.
He raised his brows, as he stared at them. They
were just three in number and they were holding
metal poles.
“What the heck is this? Did you guys trade your
eyes with some fishes in the river?”
“Shut the Füçk up you bàstard! Coz of you, our
friend slept behind the Füçking bars!” The guy in
the middle snapped and Pierce scoffed.
“Oh… You mean to say that malnutritioned kid
is your friend?” He asked.
“You rascal!” The guy in the middle immediately
charged at him with the pole but Pierce swiftly
duck and he went staggering but Pierce grabbed
him back and used him as a shield to prevent
the pole which the other thug extended from
hitting him.
The leader slumped and he charged at the two
other thugs. In less than two minutes, he had
taken the both of them down and he exhaled,
dusting his palms together.
He suddenly heard a crash followed by a thud
behind him and he turned to see Starr standing
in front of him with a pole in his hand.
The leader of the thug laying on the floor in
between them. He looked back at Starr who
simply shrugged.
***
ROOFTOP**
Pierce and Starr opened their can of soda at the
same time and the two gulped it down.
They were sitting beside each other on the floor
as they gazed at the sky.
“Why did you do it?” Pierce asked after a long
silence.
“Do what?” Starr muttered.
“Don’t feign ignorance! You know exactly what
I’m talking about.” Pierce said and Starr scoffed.
“You seem to be forgetting we’re enemies and
that won’t ever change.” Pierce said.
“Says someone that could kíll just to be friends
with me.” Starr said and Pierce scoffed.
“That was then not anymore! Now I h@të your
guts more than anything.” Pierce said and Starr
smirked.
“You suck at telling lies. Bad boy doesn’t suit
you at all. You’re fit to be an usher in church.”
Starr said and Pierce glared at him.
“Punk!” He gritted.
He suddenly sighed.
What he said was true actually.
Pierce got to know Starr during their elementary
days, they both attend the same school. He had
always wanted to be Starr’s friend but Starr
always shooed him away and gave him the cold
shoulder but Pierce never stopped.
He did all he could. Defend him in class, yell at
boys who bullied him back at school, fought
with who ever tries to hurt him but Starr never
for once took his friendly gesture to heart
despite all this. He remained the loner he was
and stayed on his own with no friends.
It went on till they got to high school, Grade 9
precisely. Pierce decided to stop being foolish
as it was obvious that the dude doesn’t wanna
be his friend. Then he turned his enemy and
began rebelling against him. He hoped that that
would make him have a change of mind but it
never happened and that’s how the two had
remain enemies till date.
“Doing all this won’t make us be friends. You’ve
ruined the chance you had. I’m actually hard to
get so you have to try harder.” Pierce said,
sipping the soda.
“Who said I wanted us to be friends?” Starr
scoffed.
“What!”
“I’m actually comfortable with the way we are.”
He said standing up.
“Are you kidding me?? You rascal! Come back
here! Wait for me!” Pierce yelled running after
Starr who was already walking away.

<MYLES’ MANSION ** WEEKS LATER>
Starr dipped the towel into the bowl of water
and squeezed out the water, then he resumed
wiping his father’s face with it.
Doctor Steve has been treating his father as he
requested and he has been recuperating fast.
Starr has doctor James arrested for abuse of
patient, and his mom was still out of the
country. A trip which she said was for 2weeks
was already lasting for close to 3months.
Starr exhaled when he was done. He held in his
dad’s hand in his, staring at his paled face.
“Dad, when are you gonna wake up? I’ve missed
you.” He said with a sigh, looking at his dad’s
face.
He suddenly felt something in his palm and his
eyes widened. He uncovered his palm and he
gasped.
His dad’s palm moved on his palm. He returned
to look at his dad’s face and he could see his
lashes flickering, and slowly it opened.
Starr gasped.
“Dad!!” He called surprisedly and Mr Myles
smiled faintly.
“S…St..arr…” He stuttered and a tear of joy
escaped Starr’s eyes.
