~ SEVEN YEARS AGO~ DAY OF THE ACCIDENT.
A fourteen year old Whitney sat in the front seat of a car feeling happy and excited.
“So, did you enjoy the birthday party?” James Archer asked, his eyes on the road.
“I did. Lisa birthday party was fun and thanks to her, I got to eat a lot” Whitney replied.
“Eating a lot will make you fat and we don’t want that since you will be a famous singer and you’ve got to keep in shape” James said which got her giggling.
“I don’t want to be a singer, dad”
“What do you want to be then?”
“I want to become a heart surgeon” Whitney replied which got her father starring her way while he ruffle her hair.
“Why? Is it because of your poor heart” he asked and that got her nodding.
“When I got a new heart the other year, I couldn’t help but to think of the others. Especially those who are suffering from the same sickness like me but can’t afford to get a surgery”
“I want to become a doctor so I can help them ” she added childishly and that got him starring at her with a smile on his face.
“You are so young and your dream is clear to you. I hope you get to fulfil your dream and become one of the best”
“I sure will” she answered hurriedly and that got him laughing.
Just then they heard a loud horn, a truck was heading towards them and it was too late to swerve away from it.
The truck hit their car and though her father tried to control it, he wasn’t able to which got the car spinning till it hit a tree by the edge of the cliff.
Whitney open her eyes only to see herself trapped in the car.
Her father had lost his conciousness and blood was trickling down his forehead.
“Daddy! Daddy!” She called trying to pull off the seat belt but it wouldn’t budge.
“Dad!” She called out in tears but her father won’t open his eyes.
She began hitting the wind screen hoping some one would see her and come to their rescue but nothing.
She began pulling the seat belt and yet it won’t pull out of her.
Whitney was about to give up hope when a lady approach the car.
“Are you okay?” Her muffled voice came to her and she nodded in reply.
“Move away a little” Crystal said and while Whitney move out of harms way, Crystal broke the wind screen since the door wouldn’t open.
“Let me help you out ” Crystal said but Whitney stared at the seat belt.
“I can’t pull it off” she said crying.
“Hang on a sec” Pulling out a scissor from her back pocket, Crystal cut off the belt.
“Give me your hand” Crystal said and Whitney shook her head starring at her father.
“Don’t worry, I will get him out right after I get you out” Crystal told her on seeing the scared look on her face.
“I can’t! My dad, I can’t leave him” Whitney replied with tears in her eyes.
” I promise to come help your dad but for now just give me your hand. Nothing will happen to you or to your father” Crystal promised trying to assure her but Whitney shook her head.
“You see, am meant to be with my boyfriend, I just finish speaking to him and I told him I will be with him in a little while. If I don’t show up, he will be worried and sad. Knowing the kind of guy he is, he will feel hurt. Let me help you and your father out so I can go to him” Crystal said trying to cajole her which seemed to work.
“Give me your hand” Crystal said again and slowly Whitney did as she said which got Crystal pulling her out of the car.
Walking a few metre away from the car, she sat the sobbing Whitney on the wet pavement.
“Have got to go get your father so stay put and your father and I will be here with you” Crystal said as she push a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
Sending a reassuring smile her way, Crystal went back to the car.
From where she sat on the floor, Whitney saw Crystal getting into the car through the passenger seat, the same place she had been seating a while ago.
Whitney thought it was over and that just like her hero had got her out of the car, she will also get her father out of it but that thought crumbled when the car exploded right in front of her.
“Daddy!” Whitney yelled as she stood up wanting to head towards the burnt car but the paramedic who had arrived through the aid of an ambulance held onto her.
The last thing she remembered before passing out was them putting out the fire.

< HOSPITAL >
Whitney woke up only to see her mom beside her.
She was about to speak when her heart began to hurting her.
“Whitney!” A sobbing Kate came to her bed side.
“What happened?” Whitney asked.
“You will be taken to the emergency room soon” Kate said as she wipe her tears.
“Why?” Whitney asked.
“Your heart… You will be getting another heart transplant” Kate replied.
“But I got one a year ago and….dad, where’s dad and the lady that saved me?” Whitney ask but on seeing the sad expression on her mom’s face, she knew that they didn’t make it.
“Answer me mom! What happen to them?” She asked hoping that her thought was wrong.
“Due to the car explosion, your father passed away and as for that lady…she was severely burnt, the doctors couldn’t do a thing to save her and…”
“She died too?” Whitney asked now in tears.
“She died and it’s her…she decided to give you her heart, she heard of your condition and told them to give her heart to you which is what they are preparing to do” Kate informed and that got Whitney bursting into tears.
Two nurses file into the room, helping the sobbing Whitney into a wheel chair.
On getting outside, Whitney pleaded with the nurse to take her to the room where Crystal body had been kept.
On getting to the room, Whitney saw that the door was left ajar and a guy stood by her bed side.
She couldn’t see his face but she could tell that he was in tears.
“Time to head to the ER ” the nurse said as they push her wheel chair to the ER room for her heart transplant to take place.

~ PRESENT TIME ~ LOGAN’S APARTMENT
Remembering the past, Whitney held Logan tightly while she kept crying.
The guy who had been standing by Crystal bed side that day could only have been Logan.
If Crystal had chose to go to him that day, if she had ignored her and her father then she will still be alive.
*”Am meant to be with my boyfriend, I just finish speaking to him and I told him I will be with him in a little while. If I don’t show up, he will be worried and sad. Knowing the kind of guy he is, he will feel hurt”*
Whitney remembered Crystal words and that got her sobbing harder.
Logan has been sad and devastated for seven years. It had caused him his phobia which got him shutting his heart on love and women.
“Whitney” he called and that made her tightened her hold on him.
“At this rate you will end up strangling me” Logan said which got her loosening her hold on him.
“Am sorry. I just…I just couldn’t hold back my tears” she said trying to control it
“I will head to my room” she said sniffing while the tears kept pouring.
Whitney was almost at the door when she was lifted into his arms.
“If you are crying due to what I said. Then it’s only right that I take care of you” he said which got her wrapping her arms around his neck.
Heading to her room, he set her down on her bed and pulled the covers over her.
“I will go get you some thing to drink” Logan inform.
When he was about to leave, she took hold of his hand.
“Don’t leave. Stay here with me, please” she pleaded.
Wanting to please her, Logan sat on the bed and quickly she wrap her arms around his waist while she lay her head on his chest.
Logan found himself gulping back a large chunk of saliva. He didn’t know why he doesn’t have the will power to resist her.
If it was the past him, he would have ignored her and went about doing his thing but some how, he wanted to comfort her as much as he can.
Slowly his hand crept to her back and he held onto her.
“I promise to do my best in healing you, Logan” Whitney said softly.
“I promise you Crystal. I will get Logan to love again, I promise” she vowed silently.

~ NEXT DAY ~
Dressed and ready for work, Whitney got downstairs only to see Logan waiting for her.
“Why haven’t you left for work?” she asked.
“Am meant to take you to work first. After all am your fiance” he answered lightly, a smile escaping his lips.
“It’s good to see you Smile” she said which wipe the smile off his face.
“I don’t know how to cook or I would have prepared you see some thing to eat” he told her as he quickly change the subject.
“I don’t mind eating in the hospital cafeteria. Let’s go”
Together they both went into his car while he drove them off.

< BRIGHAM HOSPITAL >
“Here we are” Logan said as soon as he stop his car in front of the hospital.
“I hope you forget what happened last night. I….I don’t often cry but…”
“I know. I will pretend nothing ever happen” he replied softly.
“Thanks” she said as she got out of his car.
“Are you free this afternoon?” She asked suddenly.
“I am”
“Would you mind going to watch a movie with me?” She asked and that got him smiling again.
“This is new. Are you sure you want me to go with you?” He asked wanting to tease her.
“Yes. I want to thank you for yesterday”
“Fine then. Text me the address and I will be there” he said before driving off.
A smile was still on Whitney face as she turn towards the hospital but on seeing Susan, the smile vanished.
“So, he even brings you to your work place” She said sarcastically.
“Did you come here to pick a fight?” Whitney asked.
“No. I only want to know why you have been hovering around Logan and I demand to know the truth” Susan said hotly.
“If Logan didn’t tell you then I don’t have to tell you either” Whitney said as she walk past her but Susan held onto her hand.
“If you are only messing around with him then I suggest you let him be or else I will make you pay” Susan warned looking like the devil.
“You must really love Logan to be wiling to go that far for him” Whitney said softly
“I do. I do and I won’t let you or anyone else hurt….”
“What do you think about going to watch a movie with Logan” Whitney asked mildly.
“Ugh!”

~ MOVIE HOUSE ~
Having bought their popcorn and drink, Logan was patiently waiting for Whitney to show up and on hearing his name.
He turned expecting to see Whitney but Susan was the one there.
“Why are you here?” Logan asked.
“Well, Whitney can’t make it and she called and told me to come keep you company” she replied.
“Oh” was the only thing Logan could say.
“It’s about to begin, let’s go in” Susan said as she took the popcorn from him.
Reluctantly, Logan went into the movie room with her.

Whitney smiled as she made her way out of the hospital.
If she keeps setting Logan and Susan up then he will surely end up opening his heart to her and will fall for her eventually.
“Don’t worry Crystal, Logan will be happy again” she muttered and giggled childishly.
“What’s funny?” A familiar voice said and she look up to see Logan standing there.
“What are you doing here? The movie isn’t meant to end until five and you are here at three. Don’t tell me that you didn’t even go into the movie…. Arrgh!” She let out a soft gasp when he suddenly took hold of her arm.
“Why should I stay when you didn’t show up” he growled softly.
“I only want things to go well for you and Susan”
“And who gave you the right to decide that?” He demanded.
“The deal we…”
“To hell with the deal. I don’t like Susan and I don’t think I will ever find her attractive or fall in love with her. So don’t you ever do this again” he warned.
“Then what should I do? How can I help you if you don’t like it? This is the only way I can help you, Logan” She said firmly in return.
“By setting up dates for me? For crying out loud, am your fiance even though it’s fake” he said, shaking her lightly.
“Logan I…”
“You want to help me right? Then don’t ever set up such dates. Instead, shower me with lots of attention, stay by my side always, fill this dark void in my heart with your shining radiance. To sum it all, think only of me and no one else!” He said as his hand move from her arm to pull her towards him by holding onto her waist.
“You are all I need” he said softly before claiming her lips.
