Lauren said and sat down.
“Yeah…
I came to see you cos of an important issue we have to address quickly”
Mr George replied and looked at Luke.
“And what’s that?
She asked.
“We want you to step down from the CEO’s position and let Luke take over”
Lauren just burst into laughter.
“I thought we had talked about this…
Luke can’t be the CEO of Linde Plc, we both know that”
The company is going to crumble”
“Am not going to let that happen…
I also want what’s best for this company”
Luke replied.
Lauren puts on a little confidence and faces Luke.
“Why do you want my company so much? This is the last thing my dad has for me, the company, and now you want to snatch that also”
Luke looked at Lauren in the eye.
“You don’t deserve this company, Lauren…
Hand it over to people who can manage it well”
“Oh really…
I don’t manage it well. Then how come I tripled the company’s profit in three years more than that of my father’s when he was managing the company?”
Luke kept quiet.
“I don’t care about that”

Mr George sighed and brought out an enveloped file.
“You can have a look at this”
Lauren quickly grabs the envelope. She opened it and brought out a file.
“What’s this?”
She asked and looked straight at Luke and his father’s face.
“Read through”
Lauren read the file. Seconds later, she frowns her face.
“Where did you get this?
Lauren asked.
“From your father’s lawyer.
“Your father never handed over the company to you in the first place”
Luke replied.
She felt a cold sensation run down her body. She doesn’t know what to say but decides to gather a little courage.
“Where did you get this fake signed agreement?
I must say, the architect must be really good in forging my dad’s signature”.
Luke scoffs.
“So you think we made all this up?”
“Yeah”
“Well… You have until seventy-two hours to step down”
Mr George said and stood up before walking out. Luke followed behind him.
Lauren’s heart began to race after they walked out. Mr George and Luke ain’t joking about this.
“They really want Linde Plc”
She thought.
Miss Ellie and Ethan rushed inside.
“Is everything okay?
Miss Ellie asked as she came in.
” No…
Lauren sighs.
“I might no longer be the CEO”

What happened?
Ethan was surprised, shaken up by Lauren’s words.
“It seems my dad didn’t want me to be the CEO of Linde Plc in the first place”
She replied and stretched a file at Ellie. Ellie collected it and checked through it. Ethan also joined her.
“Omg… How did this come into existence?”
Ellie asked.
“My dad’s lawyer”
“I think it’s all made up…
Mr. George and Luke are working with your dad’s lawyer”
Ethan said.
Lauren and Ellie looked at her.
“You think so?”
Lauren asked.
“It’s looking obvious… They want you to step down immediately and they know what can stop you is your dad’s written will giving you his company”
Ellie saw sense in his words.
“I think you are right…
She said and faced Lauren.
Your dad’s lawyer stated the will of your father, so why will he hand over a file to Mr George and Luke saying you ain’t supposed to be the CEO instead of informing you about it yet”
“So all what you both are saying is that they made it all up?
Lauren asked to be sure.
“Yeah…
Ninety percent sure about it”
Ellie replied giving Lauren a little hope.

Ethan came in very tired and hungry. Harry was smiling as he lay down on the sofa busy with his phone.
“Hey you’re back”
“Yeah… Am famished, I had a very long day at work today”
“Sorry about that…
Ain’t you supposed to go on a date again with Lauren?”
“We had it postponed”
Ethan replied and sat down.
“I told her I was very tired and I needed to go home to rest”
“Wow… She must be an understanding girlfriend”
“First, she is understandable and she knew I needed some rest after saving a project”

Harry was surprised.
“I thought the plan was to have her as your girlfriend.
That’s part of your revenge plan right?”

She is definitely going to fall in love with me”

He just kept quiet and brought out his phone. Harry walked to him and sat beside him.

Harry was surprised.

Harry was confused. He was thinking of why Beth would suggest making dinner.

She drops the plate on the table and reads the message.

Alex came in also with another slice of watermelon.
“What’s going on here?”

Lauren replied.
“Well, I guess it’s coincidence,
We are craving the same food”
He said and sat down.
“Yeah…

Alex asked.
“It’s fine…
Lauren replied and continued eating.
Another message came into her phone. Alex tried to take a look but couldn’t.

He asked and picked a slice of watermelon and threw it into his mouth.
“I can save you from his hands… Just tell me the secrets and I will be able to help you”

He replied and stood up.

“Why is she refusing to have a social account?”
Ethan thought as the aroma of the meal passed through his nose. He smiles and rubs his stomach.
“I guess Beth is a good cook after all”
He muttered.
Beth and Harry are still in the kitchen.
They have been cooking for thirty minutes now.
“Why did you have the guts to come back here again after I sent you out the first time?”
Harry asked.
“I never give up… I must have Ethan”
She replied.
“Oh I can see that, you really like Ethan”
He said as he sliced up the tomatoes.
“Yeah
Am going to get him”
“So now that you make it here again this evening… Why did you invite me to the kitchen to assist you?”
“I just need you here… That’s all
Ethan is tired and can’t do the work”
“Are you sure or do you want something else?”
“What do you mean?”
Harry stopped slicing and looked at her.
“What do you want with Ethan? I know you are not up to something”
Beth smiles and scoffs.
“It seems Harry is already suspecting
She thought. She decides to act like an innocent lady
“No.. am not up to anything”
She replied.
Harry just looked at her, studying her facial reactions.
“Okay”
“Why do you look at me that way?”
Beth asked.
“Am kind of suspicious but not to worry… Am definitely going to know soon”
He replied and continued slicing.

“I don’t think that’s going to work… Lauren isn’t going to buy it”
Luke said speaking to Lucy who was busy with her phone. Lucy just mind her business,
She doesn’t know maybe Luke was talking to her.

He tapped her.
“What is it, Luke?
Lucy shouted at him.
“Hey, what’s with the loud voice?
“What do you want, Luke?
“I think the plan I made up to take over Linde Plc won’t work”
He replied.
“Well, I warned you about it but you didn’t listen and instead you went to Dad who also supported your bad idea”
So please, leave me out of it”
“Am sorry about that…
What should I do?… It’s a matter of time before they realize it’s all made up”
Lucy dropped her phone and faced him.
“You are not the Luke I once knew… Luke doesn’t care about anything, he doesn’t care about wh@tëver it has to take to get what he wants… Luke is going to kill even his best friend or family to get what he wants but now you’ve changed.

Luke’s face was down. He seems sad. Lucy held her shoulder.
“Let’s take things differently. You have been gentle and soft to Lauren and whoever is backing her up”

“Have you forgotten Ethan has a video of mine that shouldn’t get out?
Am trying not to get on his nerves and it’s the reason am taking things slowly”
“The Luke I know don’t allow people to step on him. He doesn’t like to be controlled”

“So what do you suggest I should do?”
He asked.
Lucy smile.
“Now, you are talking.. let’s get to business”
She said.
“Okay.. am following your lead from now on”
“Ethan backs up Lauren Quinn, right?

“Then we have to deal with Ethan first, that confidence and boldness Lauren has is going to leave her body once her backup is weakened”
Lucy said.
” And how do you go about that? Remember he has something against me”
“Then we will have something against him also.. making what he has against you useless”
Lucy replied and smiled.
