Leading Candy to the back of the hall, Old Mavis took a deep breath staring at the sky, adorned by the bright stars.
“You remind me of someone young lady” Old Mavis spoke.
Candy stayed silence, wanting to know what the man had to say.
“Someone who bought the light in me. I was an orphan, hustling my way to build a foundation. It didn’t work well, things only get worse to the extent I tried to end my life..”
He was telling her his story? Candy got curious.
“But an angel stopped me that night and scold me. It was love at first sight. She was rich.. her parent doesn’t want me due to my status. I decided to become who they never expected and married to her. The Gonzalez family started from us..”
His face slowly dropped a little as he recall his memories.
“She was beautiful, smart and kind. My empire expanded in a way I never imagine. Everything I built was for her. We had a daughter first but she passed away. It was heartbreaking but we never gave up. We have two lovely sons after then.. She bought them up with love.. things went smoothly for a long time not until…”
He paused and took a deep breath.
“She passed away”
Candy intertwined hands tightened against each other. Old Mavis must had love his wife so much.
“Drown in misery, I buried myself into work.. not noticing the dirt that slowly creep in. My two sons got married and that was how it started. Hatred, dishonesty, competition I noticed too late..”
The old man finally turned to her and asked,
“How do you see the story?”
Candy took a moment to collect her thoughts. She could see the pain etched in his eyes, the weight of his experiences shaping his every word.
“I see a story of love, perseverance, and the resilience of the human spirit,” Candy began, her voice gentle yet firm. “Despite facing numerous challenges and setbacks, you never gave up. You found strength in the love of your wife and the determination to build a better life for your family. Your story is a testament to the power of love and the ability to overcome even the darkest of times.”
Old Mavis nodded slowly, his gaze thoughtful as he absorbed her words. There was a flicker of something in his eyes – perhaps gratitude, or maybe a newfound sense of understanding.
“Thank you, young lady,” he said softly. “You have a keen insight and a compassionate heart. It’s rare to find someone who truly understands.”
Candy smiled, feeling a sense of warmth spread through her.
“Now I know the reason why you manage to melt that cold hearted grandson” Old Mavis looked up again. “Seeing him filled with hatred breaks my heart. But I don’t blame him.. he has suffered a lot”
“He’s just like you. He never give up” Candy said and the man burst into a light laughter.
“Right.. that cold punk can destroy the world for something he cherish, just like me. I never judge any of his action, because I know he did it for a reason” Old Mavis stated. Remembering something he added.
“I owe you an apology my lady,” He said, and Candy got confused. “My stupid self had once disrespected you due to your condition.”
Condition? Did he find out?
“But no worries my dear” he reached out for her hand and held it. “You’re part of the family, you have my words”
Candy’s eyes teared up and she smiled beautifully.

Yazmine checked her wrist watch for the umpteenth times and huffed.
“Where is he? I thought he said he’ll be here soon. Candy will get suspicious if I don’t get in”
Instantly, a car halt before her, Aiden stepped down and rushed towards her.
“Hey, I’m so sorry. President asked me to pick them up” He explained.
Einstein, Melody and Ben steeped down from the car.
“Awwn, hello there little fella. I never knew you’ll be coming too” Yazmine widened her arm to hug Ben.
“Mr. Devil invited me” Ben replied.
“Mr. Devil?” Yazmine blinked in confused.
“He met Diego. He has been excited on his way here” Einstein faced his son. “I told you to stop calling him that”
“He gave me the permission to” Ben pouted and face Yazmine. “Ha, where is Miss Damsel? I can’t wait to see her” he grinned cutely.
“She inside, let’s go in. The celebration started already” Yazmine said lead her in while Aiden followed.
Einstein faced his wife and kissed her lips. “Let’s go in, beautiful”
“Yes my love” She blushed, holding hands with him.
However as they step in, Einstein eyes caught Yazmine frozen on her spot as she stared ahead.
Einstein traced his gaze and his face fell too. What in the world?! The atmosphere was filled with cold aura, enough to send a chill down someone’s spine.
“Isn’t that Griffin?” Melody muttered.
“How the hell did he get out?” Yazmine mumbled. Her gaze moved to Romeo and she got the explanation she needed. That man helped him out?
What the Fuçk is he thinking?!!
“Hello brother, it’s nice to finally meet you…”
Silence came in between them as Diego slowly clinched his fist beside him. Anger surging into every cell in him as he kept staring at Griffin..
The person he took as a brother, loved as much as he loved himself.. but then stabbed him in the back is now standing before him.
Griffin couldn’t took the silence anymore so he made to take a step.
“Take a step and I can’t promise you’ll able to use that leg” Diego warning made him stop. He slowly look up and scoffed.
Diego finally avert his cold gaze from him and face Romeo.
“You did this?” He asked, his voice dripping with distain.
“Diego, I want to bring the family back to how it was. I can’t bare to see you creating more enemies, I’m worried about you…”
“Shut the Fuçk up, man” Diego cut in. “You promised never to show your face again. Not only did you break your promise but also you released this murderer?”
It was then, Griffin made to speak. “Hey, Diego…”
Before he could finish, Diego swiftly stepped towards was him locking gaze, his jaw clinching hard and face inches from Griffin’s.
“I don’t wanna hear my name from you, @$$hOle” Diego warned. “Especially while I’m trying to suppress the urge of killing you right now”
It was at that moment, Old Mavis and Candy appeared. Old Mavis wide eyes went straight to Romeo.
“You bought him here?” Old Mavis asked Romeo.
The two men glaring at each move their sight to them.
However, Griffin’s face loosen sighting Candy, dressed elegantly. Her face held a confusing look. Why is she here?
“What is going on here?” Candy asked in a soft voice, wondering why the atmosphere seems so cold. Her eyes dart from the two men.
“Shortie?” Griffin muttered, his stare held admiration.
Diego caught on this and immediately sent a punch to Griffin’s face. He fell hard on his floor, his lips bursted.
“Di!” Candy gasped.
Diego returned his gaze to her, his chest heaving with so much anger. He took one last look of his Fuçked up family and turn to leave.
Candy spared a glance to Griffin and immediately followed Diego. Getting out, Diego was already driving off. She huffed frustratingly.
“Let me give you a ride” Einstein offered behind her. “He’s not going home but somewhere. Let me take you there”
Candy nodded and followed him.

“Who was that?” Candy asked curiously in the car.
“Diego’s greatest enemy, Griffin” Einstein replied and Candy’s eyes widened.
“What? Enemy?”
The shock look on her face made Einstein frowned.
“You’ve met him?” He asked.
“Yeah, twice”
“What! You should stay away from him” Einstein warned. “He’s a big @$$hOle”
Candy went mute, did Griffin approached her on purpose?
The car halt after sometimes. Candy spot Diego’s car as she got down. The place looks like a small garden endowed with different beautiful flowers.
“He is up ahead” Einstein said.
Stepping further, Candy eyes searched for Diego. Soon, she found him sitting beside a grave with his knees folded.
Diego who was lost in his thought, felt her presence but didn’t look up at her.
Candy sat beside him, staying silent for a while. ‘Nana Gonzalez’ was written on the grave stone, surrounded by flowers.. This must be Diego’s mother.
“The story of a boy you once told me.. was actually you” Candy stared at the quiet man beside him.
“Yes” He replied short. Candy shifted close to him and rest her head on his shoulder. Diego felt the sense of warthm and his nerve calming.
“My mother loves flowers a lot. When she died, I bought this land they had buried her and make her grave beautiful”
“She must be proud of you” Candy stated.
“I hope so, cus I couldn’t protect her”
“She is proud of the man you are Di” She said softly locking her calm gaze with his. Diego finally smiled a little. He held her face and kissed her forehead.
“Thanks for coming”
Both stared at each, holding hands.

Yazmine kept biting her fingers as she anxiously wait for her brother.
“What is President going to do about that man last night?” Aiden mumbled and Yazmine sighed.
“I don’t know.. but I just hope everything goes well even though strongly doubt that” Yazmine answered and Aiden nodded.
“Shall I address Mr. James as brother in-law now?”
“No” Yazmine was quick to reply. “I mean.. not yet” she shook her head.
“Why not?” Aiden asked with a small frown.
“Uhm, because he is really protective of me” She smiled awkwardly knowing what she just said doesn’t make sense. She recalled how scary her brother looks around those she had dated.
She loves Aiden, and could only hope he isn’t a red flag.
“I can handle him” Aiden assured.
“How about we tell him later on. Not yet” She said and Aiden nodded. He saw a thread on her hair and help to remove it.
Yazmine blushed at his action and he smiled.
“What is going on here?” A familiar voice sounded before them.
Their head snapped towards Jameson and Jackie having their bags and a two bodyguards with them.
Yazmine froze for a moment staring a Jameson, her eyes literally teared up.
“Brother!” She exclaimed running to hug him tight. Her face buried in his chest as she sobbed.
Jameson let go of his bag and hug her back.
“I’m sorry I scarred you. It won’t happen again” He assumed patting her back.
“I’m so mad at you and at the same time.. I badly miss you James” She hugged him tighter.
Jameson’s eyes teared up too, he could roughly imagine how scared Yazmine was.. especially when the doctor announced his death. She must have remembered how they lost their mother and feared to lose him..
With this, he h@tëd himself and hugged her tightly too.
“I’m deeply sorry, sis. I’m so sorry” He mumbled.
Yazmine broke the hug and held his face with a bright smile.
“Welcome back.. I promise not to nag you alright. Don’t get sick, don’t get into trouble, and most importantly, don’t leave me” Yazmine stated and Jameson laughed lightly.
She turned to Jackie and thanked her for staying beside him.
“My pleasure” Jackie smiled and her gaze met with Jameson. He returned the smile too.
“Welcome back Mr. James” Aiden greeted behind. Jameson tapped his shoulder gently.
“I wonder what stare you were giving my sister before I arrived.. could it be….”
Yazmine and Aiden’s face dropped at the same time.
“Hey!” Yazmine snapped and Jameson raised his hands in surrender.
“I was just kidding.. don’t nag me, you promised” he pouted. “By the way, where’s Candy and that punk?” Jameson looked around.
“Actually something came up” Yazmine face turned serious.

After a meeting one of his business partner, Diego returned home only to meet an unwanted guest. A frustrating sighed left his lips as he stepped in further.
“I need to talk to you…” Romeo tried to speak.
“Get out” Diego demanded coldly.
“Diego, just a minute…”
“I said get out!!” He roared. “We have nothing to talk about so get out”
“How long do we have to do this? You can’t be like this forever” Romeo said getting frustrated by his son’s stubborness. Diego let out a dark chuckled.
Candy came out due to Diego’s voice and saw the scene.
“You really think you can just come back here and expect me to welcome you in open arms. Like the hell, do you forget how you literally tortured I and my mother until she did what she did? Morning ,afternoon, night you threaten and made her face hell, she craved for death all because of what? All because you didn’t trust her…”
“I was fooled Diego. I never knew the DNA results was fake. It was Vincient deed just to tear us apart. I explained to you but you never lis…”
“You couldn’t trust your wife! All you ever wanted is the Fuçking power! You tried to mold my life in the way you wanted, you shattered my dream and made me face trauma. Not to think of..” Diego took a deep breath.
“Not to think of how you literally made my mother poisoned me on my birthday..”
The blood on Candy’s face dried up.. The person that poisoned, Diego… Was…
His mother?
‘I’ll make you face hell woman. All your days will be filled with misery, same goes to that bastard you called my son. If you think of escaping, I’ll find you and double your punishment’ Romeo remembered how he threatened his wife, Nana. His heart broke into million pieces and tears stream led down his face.
“She wanted to stop the pain and suffering so she poisoned her son and herself on my birthday.. I survived but she didn’t…”
“I’m sorry I was fooled…”
“Even before that, Romeo, you never loved her. You got married to my mother in a rush just to first your elder brother… So what?” Diego stepped forward. “You won, and then what? You never felt remorseful and left..”
“I felt remorseful Diego, I was stupid back then. I’m sorry.. please give me the chance to fix this” Romeo plead, his voice trembling.
“You want to fix this? Then return Griffin back to where he was and disappear. Don’t ever show up” Diego answered and began to walk away.
“Not this again.. C’mon how long do I have to keep apologizing!” Romeo almost raised his voice.
“Till you die Romeo!!!” Diego roared swirling to face him.
“Keep apologizing until your last breath!!!”
