“Henry, you have to stop here, my mother might see us together if you drop me off in front of my house” I indicated.
We are riding back and he insisted he would drop me off in front of my house and I am not ready to batter words with my mother if she sees us.
“Babe, that’s not fair, can’t you see? If we keep playing hide and seek in this relationship then she would never find reasons to let us be!” He stated flatly.
We are already getting closer to the estate, he slowed down and packed “why are you stopping?” I asked not ready to come down from the bike.
“Yvonne, we can’t fight against your mother if …”
“I know but we can start doing that from another day or something, I’m too tired to argue with her if she sees us together!” I cut him off.
“Besides, I don’t want to feel sad today at all, let me go to sleep dreaming only about us in that garden” I added circling my hands around his waist.
“Well …it’s already getting dark” he chuckled softly and when I looked at his face, a provocative smile was playing on his lips.
“Tomorrow, teach me how to ride a bike, so I can give you a… naughty lift to heaven!” I giggled slipping my hand into his shirt to trail my fingers on his skin.
“Don’t start, you will get yourself to blame if I take you here and now because we are gonna end up being the next gist on every blog on social media before morning” he jested.
“My mom will remind me that she told me you were of no good in the first place” I smirked
He laughed and drove off again, he kissed me goodbye in front of the house they used to live, I was lucky, my mom didn’t see me because ours is behind the building.
The night that followed was splendid, early the next day, my old friends came to see me and we all hanged out.
On our way back, I went over to Henry’s family house and they were excited to see me, I had thought they might be angry with me as my mom was to him.
“Well, we are sorry for your loss, your father was a good man and I wish he had lived many more years” his father said.
“It’s okay sir, death is inevitable, we only just pray to live longer and not to die young” I replied.
“So, how about your education? I know you have graduated, I have really missed you and Grandma always asks about you” his mother said cheerfully.
“Where’s grandma now?” I inquired as I enjoyed the food she gave me.
“Ah! She left to the village with her grandchild” she answered.
“Wow!” That means Henry’s elder sister has given birth.
“Henry told us about the two of you” his father started “I was worried because I don’t know if your mother would grant you two her blessings”
“Yvonne? Are you sure you would want to stay with my son, I mean, you are from a rich family!” His mother said holding my hand.
“I had believed that you two were best friends but I knew from the start that there’s more to the to it though you two refused to see the sparks that emanates when you two are close”
“I wish we all never had to separate, and I wonder if your mother will ever let go especially now that she is morning your father”
They kept talking and feeling worried about me and him, I lost my appetite and I wasn’t able to finish the food.
I dropped the spoon and listened to every bit of their words. And how much I wish my mother will think as they are thinking now, even though they were the ones that seemed to have been hurt.
“Oh my, we just kept talking, forgive my manners. I was going to ask how she is doing?” Her mom caught herself first.
“My mother? She’s fine, ehm… I think I have to go now” I drawled when I was certain am fed up of their conversation.
They’re the loveliest family I have ever met, I don’t think I remember seeing them arguing or shouting at each other and they always had time for each other.
Well, my parents are good but they are always busy with their business, even when they go outside the country, my father goes from one business meeting to another and my mom explores the world alone.
All the same, the two families are wonderful but I prefer it if my husband will always have the time for me and he would always put me first and let us build our empire together.
I bade them farewell and went to meet my man at his shop, he wasn’t around and when his boy told me he went out with a customer to install their new properties in their home, I waited for him patiently.
I had a good time asking the boy whom was a cheerful fellow about how the business was moving, he too seemed to know everything about electronics already.
“I have been here for three years and I want to serve him until I get more money to add to the one he will use to settle me and start up my own business”
The boy answered when I asked him, he went ahead to explain how two other boys have served his boss and they are even doing better but he doesn’t want to rush out because his boss is good to him.
I felt happy, I have always known Henry is a good guy but people change always and am happy he is still as good as before for someone to testify how well he’s treating him.
I waited till it was getting dark before I called him to know why he is not yet back, I called him several times and got no reply.
“I think I will start going, I will give him a call when I get home. It’s already getting dark” I told the boy and turned to leave.
I was about entering my car when I heard the man that came into the shop when I was leaving saying to the boy “I don’t know what he did but the police apprehended him a few minutes ago when he was coming back from that man’s house!”
