CHAPTER 22
Xavier was surprised because Mara drove to his aunt’s mansion. She stopped by the gate and pulled him by his hand towards the entrance.
“Mara why are we here? What business did you have with my aunt now? He asked but Mara didn’t answer, instead she took him inside.
Mrs Astrid was surprised to see them together, her eyes flew up in rage “What are you doing Mara? She asked not minding Xavier’s presence because she knows that her game is up.
Mara sat down majestically and looked her in the face… Then smiled “I am sure you heard me clearly, Marry Gordon Veriland of Immortal Fashion group and Forget about Xavier for good and you must not tell Xavier about the deal or I’ll kill your father thesame way I killed your mother” She mimicked what Mrs Astrid sad to her the first day she was brought to her.
Mrs Astrid cringed just then, Rose and Gordon Veriland came in….. They both came back from thier location after hearing that Mara woke up.
Xavier didn’t understand what’s going on he face Mara angrily “Mara what are you saying? Will you explain what’s going on here? He asked but Mara didn’t listen to him instead she faced Gordon Veriland
“I remembered someone called Gordon Veriland once told me “Then tell Xavier, I’ll present you your father’s head! and that your Xavier will desert you, or you expect him to disobey his aunt for you?She stopped again Gordon was surprised.
All of a sudden Mara stood up furiously “Xavier listen to me very well, this vile woman here is a beast and these two pieces of trash are animals! She shouted
Xavier fell on the chair now everything makes no sense to him,with Shaky voice he asked “What are you saying Mara? Why will you talk of aunty like that? He asked angrily
“Then ask your darling aunty what she had done! Ask this wicked soul what she had done! Ask her why she killed your parents! Ask her why she killed my father and mother’s! Ask her why she insisted that I marry Gordon and you Marry Rose! Ask her if she could prove her innocence then I swear to God who made me that I’ll voluntarily leave your lives to a Faraway place and never return!”Mara replied.
Xavier was astonished, he faced his aunt who was shivering by now and Rose and Gordon who were at the verge of tears “What is she saying aunt? Tell me what is Mara saying? Just tell me she’s lying and I promise you that I’ll chase her out myself pls tell me I beg of you” he cried but Mrs Astrid didn’t say anything.
Mara sat down again and continued “This wicked soul, you called a family, threatened me that she had found my lost father and that I should leave you or else she’ll kill my father and friends”
Xavier stood still while looking at his aunt, he had always trusted her, he’s like the second mother he had, if this was her plan all these while then why is she doing all these?
“But why? Why will she do all that? He cried
“For the company! For Our Styles Fashion Group! She had wanted it for herself but your hardwork and competition barred her and she found out that we’re in love, then she used me as a bait! Mara explained.
“No… No…. This can’t be true” Xavier lamented and left the living room while Gordon and Rose also left leaving Mara with Mrs Astrid.
“What other thing did you have to reveal You bastard!? Have you done you worst? I should applaud you don’t you think? Mrs Astrid asked while laughing like a fool.
“I should tell you that expressionless woman! You should be ashamed to leave your husband’s home and come fight for your brother’s property! What a mess! Mara exclaimed
“How dare you taunt me that way? Which wife disrespects her aunt-in-law that way? Jokes apart, how dare you Mara? Who the heck are you to scatter all my plans and ambitions? Who the heck are you!!? She shouted
Mara stood up furiously “Because I am Mara! The daughter of the man you killed 15 years ago! The daughter of the woman you killed last year, The wife of the boy you wanted to ursurup his inheritance!!!! I am Mara! The unbeatable Fighting Goddess! Don’t dare me Old woman! I told you my comeback will be hell you think it’s just a plain talk? She asked
Mrs Astrid is almost going mad…. Mara’s taunting is too much! Her words are like arrow that is piercing through her heart! She can’t take her Revelations anymore she grabbed the wine bottle on the center table and make to knock it on her but Mara dodged it Making the wine bottle splash on the wall.
Mara chuckled “Hey woman! Did you think you can really match to me in terms of fighting and dodging? Did you know who I am? I am Mara! I don’t fall that easily” She said.
Mrs Astrid gritted her teeth and pulled the knife from the fruits basket and threw it towards Mara, before Mara could Dodge! Xavier came in! The knife stabbed him in his right arms blood gushed out….
“Xavier! Mara cried and rushed to him…. But he wasn’t that injured he mumbled “Let’s go… Let’s get out of here fast!! He said
“Let me take care of you Xavier, she can’t do anything” Mara replied and took her handkerchief to bind his wounds.
Still Xavier was insisting that they both leave… Struggling to his feet, Mara dragged him up and made for the gate outside. Before they could reach there, someone fired a shot! The bullet hit Mara on the left leg. It was Mrs Astrid…. Mara looked back and saw her holding a gun with Rose and Gordon beside her smirking.
Before she could realize, another shot was fired at them but Xavier covered her and he was hit on the chest…. “Xavier!!! she cried.
The wicked people Mrs Astrid, Rose and Gordon went back into the house.

Mrs Astrid was seen in a meeting with the commissioner of police, Rose was also there with Gordon Veriland too.
“So You’re tell me that I should frame that lady Mara? But there’s no evidence to back it up and she was also injured,who would believe she was the one that shot Xavier? The commissioner asked
Mrs Chuckled “Mr Donald, you’re a police officer you should know how to do that, this Mara in question is a street wise girl, I want that girl in prison, if she’s still allowed to roam around she will be a threat to us don’t you think? She asked coquettishly.
The commissioner smiled maliciously “Don’t worry Madam since you have promised that you’ll deposit that $10 million in my account, then consider Mara in prison” The man assured
“Thank you so much Commissioner, if she ever mention our names you know how to manage her isn’t it? Rose asked
“Leave all that to me…. ” He assured yet again and left while the three of them toast together.
“Hey President Gordon I thought you loved Mara so much that you wanted her by your side? Rose asked
Gordon sipped his drink and replied “Yes j really do, but not anymore, seeing her getting close to that Xavier Klein made my blood boil even more”
Mrs Astrid chipped in “Don’t worry guys, once Our Styles Fashion Group become mine, then we’ll have peace of mind, I need to contact that nurse maybe she was doing he job”

Mara is dozing off, she had been staying with Xavier in the hospital for quiet somedays but Xavier didn’t show any signs of waking up, he was still breathing but not opening his eyes.
Then a nurse walked in making her stare from her sleep “Madam will you go out now? I have to do some check up on him” She said and Mara walked out. To her surprise she met Secretary Tan outside….
“Hello Miss Mara how’s president now? Is he showing any signs? He asked
“No he hasn’t wok up, the nurse is checking him up by now, but how did you know he’s in the hospital? Mara asked.
Secretary Tan whispered to her and they both left the hallway……
When they got to the hotel garden, Secretary Tan gave her a brown envelope “What’s this? Mara asked
“That’s the docvments of his personal properties……. He asked me to give you all that”Secretary Tan explained
Mara was alerted “What did you mean? Why will he ask you to give them to me? When did he say that?”
“He woke up when you go for your examination, that’s when he called me and told me about it, and he left this letter for you” Secretary Tan explained to Mara who was looking at him like the one in Trance.
Mara collected the letter and was about to open it when the police came… Mara didn’t bother to look at them since she didn’t have any offence….
But the police officers came for her, she returned the envelope and the letter to Secretary Tan “Are you Miss Mara Kings? An officer asked
“Yes how can I help you? She asked
“You’re under arrest for the murder of Mr Xavier Klein the formal President of Our Styles Fashion Group” He replied
Mara was shocked….she looked at Secretary Tan as if to ask him what’s happening and he took the cue
“Yes, it’s true…. Mrs Astrid became the new president yesterday” He replied
Mara struggled with the police officers “You can’t just arrest m without any evidence? And he’s not dead he’s still alive” She shouted but they were not ready to listen to her.
They dragged her to the van while Secretary Tan was looking like a lost sheep before running to the hospital room.
