“Good bye miss Cynthia” the other students greeted as they walk past her, leaving for their various home.
Cynthia was on her way home too but she couldn’t stop thinking about Chris.
She had seen him during her lunch break that day and he had completely ignored her.
She let out a sigh, wondering why Chris is suddenly acting weird when she saw him going ahead of her.
She pulled out her phone and called him and she watch as he ignored the call, putting his phone back into his pocket.
Feeling angry by this sudden act, she quickly went after him. He was about to shut the car door when she got In with him.
“What are you doing here?” A shocked Chris asked.
“We’ve got to talk, I can’t stand your recent attitude” Cynthia said briskly before telling the driver to start the car.
They were down the streets when Chris told the driver to stop and also to leave them alone.
As soon as the driver got out of the car, he turned to a quiet Cynthia.
“What do we have to talk about?” Chris asked.
“About us. I just don’t understand why you are keeping your distance”
“Am not…”
“Don’t deny it, Chris. I know you and just a while go, I saw you ignore my call. What exactly is wrong? Did I do something to offend you or is it…is it that you no longer love me?” Cynthia asked.
“It’s not that Cynthia”
“Then what is it? You said you love me, so why are you doing this?” She said wearing a sad expression.
That seem to pull his heart string because he pulled her towards him, enfolding her in a tight hug.
“I love you Cynthia. I love you so d@mn much and it’s because of what I feel for you that am keeping my distance” Chris spoke over her forehead.
“After knowing the truth, I can’t help but to feel guilty. It’s because of what my granny did that you and your mother had to suffer” he added slowly which got her pulling away to stare at him.
“You don’t have to feel guilty about that”
“I wish I could but each time I see you, I feel that way. If only my granny hadn’t stolen Fiona then you would have had a normal child hood” he said as wipe off a tear on her face.
“It’s all in the past. Am happy now that we’ve found Fiona and I will be happier if you are by my side” Cynthia said but slowly he shook his head.
“What can I do to stop making you feel guilty, ugh? Tell me”
“Let’s just stay apart for some time. I need to be alone to think properly and…”
“Is this a way to tell me that we are over?” Cynthia asked and when he didn’t reply she moved away from him.
“Aren’t you being unfair? ” Cynthia said while trying to hold back her tears.
“Am sorry” he whispered softly and slowly she got out of the car knowing she just lost someone very important to her…

“I heard about the company going bankrupt? How did it happen?” Blair asked as soon as she got into the study room.
“The company’s accountant has been embezzling it for sometime now” A dejected Connor replied.
“But how on earth did he do that without anyone’s knowledge?” Blair asked.
“That’s because he’s been embezzling it into a private company in India and no one noticed it until recently and currently the police is still looking for him” Connor said again.
“So what do we do? To save it from bankruptcy, we’ve got to find an investor with a large amount of money” Blair let out slowly as she sat on the chair.
“Perhaps we can ask Edward, he’s surely going to help if we…”
“I don’t need his help” Connor said brusquely, remembering the discussion he had with Edward earlier.
“Why don’t you need his help? Don’t tell me that you’ve spoken to him already. Tell me what he asked for?” Blair demanded.
“This is none of your business. I will handle…”
“I doubt that and besides, dad company belongs to me too. So tell me what Edward asked in exchange for helping us” she demanded interrupting him.
“Well…he told me to give Tessa a divorce” Connor answered hating the fact that he had to remember Edward ridiculous request.
*”Divorce Tessa and I promise to invest all the money I have into your company and save it from bankruptcy”*
Shaking off the memory, he focused on what Blair was saying.
“And so?” A angry Blair asked.
“What does that mean?” Connor said in return oblivious to Tessa listening to them outside.
She had wanted to tell him about her promotion at work and that’s why she went straight to the study only to hear him telling Blair of Edward request.
“This is father’s company we are talking about. There happen to be a chance to save…”
“A chance where I have to divorce my wife? ” Connor asked now looking annoyed.
“Don’t tell me you are willing to let go of dad’s company just to keep Tessa by your side?”
“Tessa is my wife!”
“Which is why you have to choose. Is it Tessa or the company which dad left in your care” Blair yelled at him in return.
Having heard enough, Tessa quietly
left.
“If you will keep on spewing nonsense, I suggest you leave ” Connor replied choosing to ignore what she said.
“Even if you divorce her, you can get back together but you can’t get the company back once you’ve lose it. Keep that In mind” Blair said before leaving the study room.
As soon as she got to the confine of her room, she pulled out her phone to send Edward a message.

Fiona was returning from the hospital after spending the day with her mom when she saw Frederick waiting for her in front of the house.
“Frederick” she called and it wasn’t until he turn to her that she noticed his attire.
“Did you leave the hospital?” Fiona asked worriedly.
“They keep insisting that I get discharge in two weeks time and I couldn’t wait that long since I have to see you” Frederick replied.
“What you did is dangerous. They must have a reason for not wanting to discharge you, let’s go back to the hospital” Fiona said as she took hold of his hand but he pulled her towards him instead.
“Why haven’t you come to see me? I know it must be hard for you trying to adjust to your new life but then…have missed you” he said as he smiled down at her.
“Have been busy” Fiona replied as she pulled away from him something Frederick noticed.
“Busy enough not to come check on me? What’s really wrong Fiona? I was thrilled knowing that we aren’t siblings, shouldn’t you feel the same?” Frederick asked.
“Not everyone is like you, Frederick. I must admit that I was relieved about us not being siblings but at the same time, I wish I had never found out”
“Everything I believed in for the past seventeen years turn out to be a lie. It feels weird living a new life, I suddenly have a mom and a sister and….”
“And Connor, Chris, Blair and Nicole. They might not be our family but they love us the same. So stop feeling sad about it” Frederick said but she shook her head.
“I find that hard to do and it’s one of the reason am keeping my distance from everyone. I need to come to terms with my new life before anything else” she said while trying to hold back her tears.
“Even from me?”
“Even from you” Fiona replied ” I suggest you return to the hospital and don’t try to leave again just so you can see me. If it happens again, I won’t see you” She added before walking past him into the apartment.
As soon as she shut the door, she went to stand by the window in the dark watching a dejected Frederick leave and slowly, the tears she’s been holding back began to pour.

^^ Next Day ~ Edward’s Company ^^
“Do you have an appointment?” The receptionist asked Tessa who shook her head.
“Then am afraid you will….”
“Just tell him that Tessa Hank is here. Am sure that he would want to see me” Tessa cut her off abruptly and a while later, she was being escorted by Edward personal secretary to his office.
As soon as she was led into Edward office, she ignored his offer to take a seat and went straight to the point.
“What game are you playing? How dare you mess with Connor and I!” She yelled down at him, showing her anger.
“Am not messing with you and Connor. He needs my help and I want something in return before I render that help” Edward replied with a smug smile on his face.
“By telling him to divorce me? How can you be so cruel! Your friend is in need of help and instead of giving him that help, you decide to use it for your own good!”
“Am a business man and you don’t expect me to give out my money without getting anything in return ” he said while getting out of his seat.
“And also Connor and I aren’t friends, let’s just say we are acquaintance, a bad one at that. I won’t go into the sordid details but what I want in exchange for my money is that he give you a divorce which am sure he would do ” Edward added.
“Connor won’t do that” Tessa replied tersely.
“Do you really have much faith in your husband? I guess it will shatter once he agrees to a divorce”
“Don’t bet on that. I know Connor and I am sure that my husband won’t give in to your dirty demand” she said and walk past him only to be pulled back roughly.
“Don’t you even want to know why I want him to give you a divorce?” He asked angrily.
“Let go of me! You are hurting me”
“Not as much as you are hurting me” he said giving her a shake ” I want you Tessa, I don’t know how you did it but I want you and I will do wh@tëver I can to make you mine” he said and was about to force a kiss on her when the door open to reveal his secretary.
“Oh! Am sorry sir, I didn’t mean to interrupt ” the secretary apologise but before she could leave, Tessa fled out of the room before she would be left alone with him again.

Tessa pace around in the room thinking about what Edward said to her earlier.
Connor certainly won’t give her up just to save the company… She thought as she went stand by the window.
That was how Connor found her when he came into the room.
“Is something wrong?'” Connor asked as he pulled off his tie.
“I know everything. I overheard your conversation with Blair last night ” Tessa said but before he could say a thing, she quickly went into his arms.
“I know it’s hard for you since it’s your father company but I can’t live without you. Don’t divorce me” Tessa pleaded just as he gently pulled her away from him.
“I was thinking of how to bring this topic up but then…am glad you overheard our conversation last night” Connor began as he watched her with a sad look on his face.
“Dont look at me like that” a teary Tessa said.
“I told him that you won’t say yes…I told him that you will stick by my side and am right. Tell me that am right!” Tessa said as the tears began to pour.
“Am sorry Tessa… But have got to save the company” Connor replied shattering her heart….
