They both came back to the lodge, forgetting about the vigil. Vanessa was still shaking fearfully when her phone chirped in her bag.
She brought it out,then smiled happily when she saw the message was from Olivia,her best friend. She clicked on the message and her eye went wide with what she saw.
It was pictures of Olivia and Mitchell(Vanessa’s boyfriend)Kissing and smooching happily.
It’s obvious they both where happy and dating of course.
“Olivia and Mitchell??”She stuttered shockingly, slumping on the bed.
“What happened?”Tony asks noticing her changed countenance.
“I’m fine”She breathed and another message popped in again.This time the message was from Mitchell.
💌”Let’s break up!!” The message read!
“Jeez! Seriously?”Vanessa scoffed loudly and threw her phone on the bed.
She have Mariam’s issue at hand to think of and Mitchell case was the least,she doesn’t even have the slightest time for him right now, considering the situations of things.

√√TWO WEEKS ON~SUN-SIDE UNIVERSITY √√
It’s been two weeks already and things have been going on pretty well with Mariam’s case totally forgotten.
The second lecture ended already and students could be seen, trooping out of the classroom heading to the canteen while some where just strolling down the blocks of the department, chatting happily.
“Thanks for this!”Vanessa smiled at Tessa who mirrored back the smile.
It’s surprising how Vanessa and Tessa has become best of friends,that Vanessa hardly stays a day without going to see Tessa or vice versa.
Don’t misunderstand me, Vanessa and Amanda are also friends,but she’s more close to Tessa than her.
“I can’t believe I got 20 out of 20 in the test! Like woah!! I didn’t even study”Vanessa grinned happily and Tessa looked at her.
“You Keh? Didn’t study? When you’re living under the same room with that bookworm??”Tessa pointed at Tony who was chatting with his male friends.
“Of course he’s a bookworm,but I’m not okay”Vanessa rolled eye and Tessa chuckled.
“You’ve changed so much”Tessa told her, Vanessa only smiled without replying.
“What’s up with you and Tony??”Tessa whispered and Vanessa gave her the”what do you mean look”
“Nothing!! Was just asking”She shrugged and Vanessa rolled eye.
“I just feel like running!! I’m just tired yunno,today is really boring”Vanessa pouted and Tessa laughed.
“Hey girls”Amanda smiled, sitting on the empty space beside Tessa.
“Where the fries na??”Tessa asks and Amanda twitched her lips.
“Which fries??”She asks and Tessa groaned.
“Wetin you buy??”Tessa asks instead and Amanda brought the things she bought out.
“Imagine!! Who told you to buy gala now?! When did you see me having gala? Mitcheeeeeeeeeeeeew”Tessa hissed angrily and Amanda scoffed.
“You should even appreciate me that agreed to buy the stuff in the first place”Amanda rolled eye.
“Can I have that? There’s something I need to inspect”Vanessa demanded and Amanda passed the gala to her.
“Oh…so this is the gala? Wow!! It looks beautiful”Vanessa began which got Amanda and Tessa looking at her unbelievably.
Which one is the gala is beautiful again? This isn’t the first time she’s seeing that!! Vanessa sef!
Before they could even make meaning out of what she was saying, Vanessa opened the gala and pushed everything into her mouth.
“My gala!!!”Tessa shouted with wide eye and Amanda began laughing at her, while Vanessa’s eye ball kept rolling as she tried swallowing it.
“Where is the drink Abeg?”Vanessa asks and Tessa glared at her.
“That Abeg kill you there,so na only Abeg yunno!!”Tessa rolled eye and took the drink from Amanda angrily.
“Tessa don’t be wicked,I’m choking”Vanessa pouted cutely and Tessa scoffed.
Tessa tried replying when tony walked to them with a bottle of chilled nutrimilk.
“Here! Take this”Tony gave it to Vanessa who took it happily,then stuck out her tongue to Tessa.
“That’s the caring roomie I got!”Vanessa grinned like a baby.
“Tony wey my own??”Tessa asks and Tony looked at her.
“Your own what? I don turn from tony to charity Abi?”Tony asks and Tessa looked at him in awe, while Vanessa kept smiling already drinking the nutrimilk.
“Jesus Christ tony!! Vanessa has finally taken you away from us”Tessa rolled eye at Vanessa who pouted in return.
“Prof innocent is coming! Jeez!!”Amanda groaned tiredly which got the rest turning to look at the door and there he was walking in,with his glasses hung perfectly on his nose,then a huge book stood gallantly on his hand.
“To your tents oh isreal”he told them all,with all seriousness. It was supposed to be a joke,but prof innocent being a no nonsense man said it with no hint of playfulness in his voice.

After prof innocent lecture was over, Tony exhaled deeply dipping his hand in his pocket and bringing out his phone.
“Tony!!”A girl called beside him and he turned to her, while the girl sent a charming smile his way.
“Hey wassup”Tony asks and she giggled.
“I’m just good!! Uhmmm,I wanted you to help me fix this!”She gave tony her phone which he took slowly, obviously confused on what to do with the phone.
“What should I do with this?”He stammered slowly and she smiled.
“Nothing much,I was only tryna check something when I unknowingly locked it, now I can’t even access it”She pouted sadly and Tony muttered an “oh”
“The thing is that I don’t know what to do,but you can actually take it to an expertise to help you”Tony told her and she nodded slightly.
“I was also meaning to ask if you can help me explain this properly”She requested calmly and Tony nodded.
Meanwhile, Vanessa was chatting with Tessa and Amanda when she suddenly turned to Tony’s direction, only to see him with a girl, discussing and smiling happily.
“What are discussing?”She thought,with a scoff.
She tried looking away,but ended up staying glued looking at them,her fist slowly clenching on its own while she boiled in rage!
“Why this close? What could they be discussing that he has to smile that way?”She rolled eye,a sudden wave of jealousy wash through her body.
On the other side, Mariam could be sighted sitting at the last row of seat in the back,her hand placed on the table supporting her jaw.
She was really Deep in thought, was this how she lost everything? Both the males and females friend’s? Jeez!! She exhaled and looked away from them(Vanessa, Tessa and Amanda) and wiped the drop of tears that escaped her eyes.

The lectures for today was over,tony and Vanessa could be seen walking down the road while discussing. It was obvious they were arguing.
“First was inputting your phone number and the second was smiling foolishly with her! Who does that?”Vanessa snorted angrily and Tony sighed tiredly.
They both where actually heading back to the lodge,since they’re done for today and all Vanessa has been doing was nagging.
“I told you I didn’t input my number in her phone. Why would I do that?”Tony explained for the umpteenth time,but Vanessa wasn’t taking any.
“Then why where you both close huh? I clearly saw her give you her phone and the next,she was all over you”she scoffed loudly, while glaring daggers at Tony.
“She’s my course mate Vanessa….”Tony began again but Vanessa cut him off.
“Oh!! Is that what you’re saying? She’s your course mate so? I’m I not?”Vanessa questioned, stopping on her track’s while standing Akimbo which got tony wiggling his brow in confusion.
“Jeez!! Vanessa I already told you she wanted my help with some stuff”Tony facepalmed himself tiredly.
“What help what’s that huh? Couldn’t you both do wh@tëver wh@tëver without her being that close to you?”She flared up angrily and Tony kept looking at her dumbfoundedly.
“Wow!! He’ve gone dumb!!”Vanessa clapped in anger and Tony roughed his hair.
“I’m the course rep yunno,so I have to answer whenever I’m being called”Tony replied, trying to make Vanessa understand but she kept flaring up,looks like he was adding more fuel to the burning furnace.
“Yah!! You’re the course rep so that means you’re free to cling with all girls right?? No probs”She rolled eye and continued walking, making sure to give tony space.
Tony threw his hands in the air,and went after her.
“Vanessa….”
“Don’t talk to me”She replied and hastened her steps while tony stood looking at her.
Is she angry Abi wetin?? Tony thought.
They finally reached their lodge,with tony trying to start a conversation with Vanessa who was whistling in return.
Vanessa sat down on the bed,and began loosing the laces of her sneakers while tony went in to the bathroom straight to have a cool shower.
“Füçk!!”Vanessa cussed and slumped on the bed.
Tony came out after few minutes, already changed into a simple cloth. He looked at Vanessa tiredly before holding the door knob with the intention of opening the door when Vanessa spranged up from the bed.
“Where are you going??”She questioned possessively and Tony exhaled dejectedly.
“Market”He replied straight forward and Vanessa stood up.
“I’m coming with you”She replied hurriedly, rushing to the bathroom.
“Coming with me? Why?”Tony asks and Vanessa turned to him.
“Wait, what’s the question supposed to mean? I said I’m going with you”Vanessa rolled eye and Tony left the door,then sat down on the bed.
“Don’t take long”Tony told her and she hissed loudly, without replying him.

“Can I have the money?”Vanessa demanded and Tony slowly gave her the money.
“So what and what are we buying?”Vanessa asks, checking out the vegetables in sight.
“Ion”Tony shrugged and Vanessa turned to him,her eyes glaring questionablely at his.
“What do you mean you don’t know?”Vanessa whispered.
“You brought me to the market,so how will I possibly know what you wanna buy?”Tony wiggled his brow and Vanessa scoffed.
“Ma’am do you have nails?”Vanessa asks with a knowing smile, and Tony looked at her wondering what she needed a snail for.
“Yes dear. There’s periwinkles, snails….”the elderly woman began but Vanessa cut her off immediately.
“No ma’am,I mean nails and not snails”Vanessa replied and Tony gasped.
“Oh that,I’m sorry dear I don’t sell that. But go to the next line and you’ll see where it is sold”The lady replied, pointing the direction for her.
“Thank you”She smiled and began walking away,but Tony pulled her back before she could go further.
“Wetin you wan use nails do?”Tony questioned and Vanessa only smiled without giving him a reply.
“Vanessa!!”Tony called again and Vanessa scoffed.
Ignoring him and his questions, Vanessa began walking away swaying her @$$ whilst humming a song to herself.
“This girl won’t be the end of me!!”Tony said, and began smiling finding her walking steps funny.
Vanessa stopped walking,when she wasn’t hearing Tony’s footsteps from behind. She turned slowly to see him still standing on his spot, smiling like an idíot.
“Idiotism is real”Vanessa shooked her head,then continued walking without bothering to call him.
Tony blinked repeatedly when he couldn’t see Vanessa in sight. His mind wasn’t with him seriously!! She was here,in his front few seconds ago so where the hell did she disappear to and where was he going to search for her? Sh|t!! He cussed and dashed out in search of her.
He entered the shop the elderly woman directed Vanessa minutes ago,with the hope of seeing her there but she wasn’t.
“Hey, excuse me”Tony waved breathing heavily and the man turned to him.
“Good afternoon sir”He greeted respectively and the man replied.
“Did an American girl come by? She wanted to buy nails here!”He breathed.
“Yes,she just Commot now now”The man replied in pidgin.
“Sorry but please,do you have any idea where next she went to?”Tony asks again.
“She went to make her nails in the salon next line”He replied and Tony thanked him before dashing off.
Tony entered the salon and met her fixing her nails already while drinking a yogurt.
“Hi!!!”She waved with a smile and Tony nodded with a forced smile.
“Hey?”He waved back and greeted the lady fixing Vanessa’s nails before sitting down.
After what looked like 20 minutes,they where done fixing her nails both finger’s and toes.
“Mhmmm!”She giggled happily and stood up while tony kept looking at her in confusion.
“Let’s go!!”She pulled him up,after settling the lady.
They left the salon and Vanessa went to her next bus stop.
She continued buying irrelevant stuffs, while smiling happily. The only thing in her mind was getting tony pissed off which she successfully did when tony asked her to give him the money, only for it to turn out that the money was actually what she’s been wasting unnecessarily since.
Without bothering to say any more word to her,he turned and went to the nearest POS and withdrawed some money,after he was done he went back to the lodge while Vanessa kept looking at him sadly.
“I’m sorry”She apologized for the umpteenth time but Tony ignored her, heading to the kitchen instead.
“Okay,this is getting too much”Vanessa snorted, pulling him back by the arm.
“Let go!!”Tony said sternly looking at his arm which Vanessa was holding.
“I..I..just said sorry already”She stuttered tearfully, leaving his arm slowly.
“Sorry? What are you exactly sorry for huh?”Tony raised his voice a bit and Vanessa’s heart sank into her stomach.
“I…I…”She trailed off and bite her bottom lips hardly.
“Look at the time Vanessa,8:30pm right?”He showed her his phone and she nodded.
“We went to the market by 5 only to come back now and you think sorry can fix this? You know pretty well that we’re gonna cook but you decided to waste all the time in the market! Why?”He yelled again and Vanessa flinched fearfully, seeing how angry he was.
“I’m sorry!!”Vanessa said, trying to touch him again but he stepped back.
He looked at her one last time before going to the kitchen, ignoring her apology. A drop of tears cascaded her eyes the moment tony left her standing.
She sat on the bed, reminiscing his voice,how angry he was and she couldn’t help but feel saddened.
His eyes held so much anger in it,that Vanessa began weeping quitely.
When she couldn’t take it anymore,she stood up and found her way to the kitchen.
Taking her steps quietly but cautiously,she walked up to him and hugged him from behind,her hands wrapped securely round his waist,her head placed on his back and her eyes tightly shut.
For a moment,tony felt his heart skipping beat.
This wasn’t the first time they where this close,but there was a special feeling that came with this,the way her hands slowly wrapped round his waist,he wasn’t expecting it and the way her head rested on his back,sent chills down his spine. A feeling he’ve never felt nor experienced before!!
“I’m sorry please,I didn’t mean to get you angry,I was only trying to have fun”She whimpered,her voice quivering like she was gonna cry soon.
Tony heaved deeply, without reacting to her.
“Tony say something,I’m sorry please. I’ll never get you angry again,but please don’t stop talking to me”She continued,but Tony ignored her.
“Just a word tony!!”She begged again and still,no reply from tony.
Vanessa hiccuped slowly and opened her eyes,she slowly released her hand from his waist and stepped back.
She looked at his back one more time, while wiping the uncontrollable tears rushing down her cheeks,she turned sadly and tried walking away when tony pulled her back, which got her crashing on his chest.
Vanessa’s eye’s went wide and her heart began with the crazy race,it was beating so much that she feared it’s gonna explode soon.
“Where are you going?”He asks, lifting her face up and his eyes grew wide when he saw how red her eyes were and traces of tears was still on her cheeks.
“I…”
“Did you cry?”Tony asks her, while staring deep in her eyes,his thumb on her cheeks while his deep charming eye’s, searched answers from her.
Vanessa’s mind and soul went wild with crazy thought,as she kept staring at his reddish lips which was alluring and calling.
She gulped and looked away,tony sighed and turned her face to him before cupping her cheeks in his hand.
“I wasn’t avoiding you, neither didn’t I want to talk to you. I.. I…I….”He trailed off, and Vanessa kept looking at him, waiting for him to finish off his statement.
“I..just didn’t want you to break the hug,I wanted you to stay a little longer”He completed and Vanessa blinked twice.
“Why didn’t you want me to break the hug?”She found herself asking and Tony sighed.
“I….it just felt peaceful”he replied her and for a moment,a long silence took over. It felt like everything was frozen,no sounds or noise from the lodge mates,the cool breeze which blew at night, the annoying sounds coming from the students!! Everything was frozen,only their hearts which was pounding loudly,rented the kitchen.
Vanessa stood on her toes,then pressed her lips slowly on Tony’s and Tony’s eye went wide,just for a moment and the next,he reciprocated willingly,his hand went to her back and he pulled her more closer to himself, their tongues rolled and collided with each other,each obviously fighting for dominance.
Vanessa broke the kiss,with they both breathing heavily while their eyes stared affectionately at each other.
Vanessa smiled shyly and looked away,tony only chuckled and turned her face, before reconnecting their lips.
Vanessa broke it, after a short while.
“We need to Cook”She said shyly, looking around at everything in the kitchen, except his face.
Tony smiled,then turned to continue cooking when he felt a hand wrapped round his waist again,he smiled lightly and placed his own hands on Vanessa’s,his eyes tightly shut while he kept smiling handsomely.
His eyes went wide open,at Vanessa’s next word.
“Can you teach me how to cook?”
