.
βWill you marry me Elizabeth?β. Austin
reiterated.
I was just shedding tears uncontrollably.
βWhy are you crying na? Say yes pleaseβ. Faith
urged.
I brought my left hand forward and used my
right palms to cover my mouth while I was still
sobbing.
βYES. I will marry you β. I said.
Austin gently placed the diamond π on my
finger. He stood up and wrapped me around his
arms.
βThank you babyβ. Austin said happily.
As the drama queen that she is, Faith went to
the wine cellar and brought a champagne. She
popped it which made a very loud noise.
She poured it and we all cheered happily as we
drank.
With the help of both Faith and her husband,
along side with Austin, I was able to move into
the apartment Austin rented for me months
back. I couldnβt thank Faith enough for being a
true friend to me.
Austin had to stay with me for a while.
I was glad he did because of how well he
treated me. He didnβt allow me cook nor clean,
even when I insisted I was still strong enough to
do those things he wouldnβt listen. I sha enjoyed
the baby girlβs treatment.
βBabe, what about your ex husband, how are we
going to go about him?β. Austin asked one
afternoon after we had lunch.
βThatβs true! Let me call himβ. I said and
brought out my phone.
βHelloβ. I said as coldly as I could sound.
βBabimβ¦ I have missed youβ. My ex husband
said with all smiles.
βPlease stop calling me that. I called to inform
you that I want to return the bride price you paid
on meβ. I said.
βWho said you can return it? See this woman o,
you are my wife for lifeβ. He said boastfully.
βBaby please give me the phone let me speak to
him β. Austin said boiling with anger.
I had no choice but to hand the phone over to
Austin.
βHello! Iβm Austin, Elizabethβs Fianceβ¦β.
Before he could finish speaking, my ex husband
rudely interrupted him.
βJust be fooling yourself. I know you have been
fu*king her even when she was still under my
roofβ¦ You think I didnβt know right? I will never
collect the bride price back β.
βWell, I canβt be wasting myself exchanging
words with you. Go to the nearest customary
court to get back the bride price you paid on her
whenever you are ready β. Austin said.
βLook at this man making mouth over my
remnant β. He started laughing.
I was just boiling. βThis man is actually so
disgusting. I canβt believe I was once in love
with himβ.
βSo, do you know she canβt even have children?
I guess you donβt know she is barren. She is a
man like youβ. My ex husband said disdainfully.
I just shook my head with pity. I placed my
hands on tummy with big smiles on my face. I
couldnβt be happier for being pregnant.
βWell, I think you are the impotent one hereβ.
Austin fired back.
βHow can I be impotent when a woman is
already carrying my baby?β. My ex said and
burst out laughing.
I was shocked to my bone marrow. Austin gave
me a glance and we simultaneously shook our
heads.
βWell, Elizabeth is also carrying my baby. I
would advise you run a DNA test on that baby
when he or she is born. Iβm not hating, Iβm only
advising you man to manβ. Austin said and
ended the call.
Austin came to where I was seated and placed
my both hands on his and said;
βAll will be well baby. I canβt imagine what you
had to go through in his handsβ.
βI thank God for everything β. I said.
βNext week, we will be going to see my parents.
I want us to get married as soon as possible
before the baby bumps start showing β. Austin
said.
The thought of meeting his parents sent chills
all over my body. I havenβt gotten over the ill
treatments I received from my ex husbands
family from the first time I met them till the end
of the marriage.
βDo you think they will like me?β. I asked.
βThey have no choice than to like you. You are
Austinβs womanβ. He said smiling.
That gave me a little bit of courage.
