I woke up before Austin. He was fast asleep
with his hands firmly wrapped around my waist.
I gently removed his hands from my body and
made way to the bathroom.
I felt so dirty considering the fact that my
husband is the only man I have slept with until
now.
I just stood under the shower enjoying the
coolness of the running water.
“Elizabeth, you did nothing wrong. Your
husband doesn’t deserve any loyalty from you.
What are you even saying, you both are good as
divorced!!”. I consoled myself with these
thoughts.
“Babe are you bathing?”. Austin asked.
Hearing Austin call me babe made me feel a
little bit awkward.
I kept quiet.
“Can I join you babe”. Austin asked.
“This doesn’t feel right Elizabeth. You can stop
now, it’s not too late trust me!”. A voice said to
me.
“Are you kidding me? Where else will you get
another man like Austin? He is humble and he
loves you more than life itself. Babe calm down
abeg”. Another voice whispered to me.
I didn’t know when I shouted “STOP” from the
top of my voice.
Austin felt startled and left. He thought I was
shouting at him.
I quickly dressed up and joined him in the
palour.
He was looking so downcast.
“Do you h@të me now”. Austin asked looking
gloomy.
“Not at all. I didn’t mean to yell at you”. I said
defensively.
“If you want me to never show up again, please
tell me now”. Austin said.
“Please don’t say that. I don’t want you to
leave”. I said as I leaned closer to him.
“So what are we doing exactly? Are we a couple
now?”. Austin asked looking me straight in my
eyes.
I didn’t know what to reply back. I was not sure
if I was ready for any commitment but on the
other hand, I still wanted Austin to remain by my
side.
“Are we together now?”. Austin asked again.
“Yes”. I didn’t know when I said that.
Austin quickly hugged me excitedly.
“Thank you Elizabeth. I promise to make you
happy for the rest of your life. From the first
time I saw you, I knew you would be mine”.
Austin said triumphantly.
I just sat there not knowing how to react.
So when are you divorcing your husband”.
Austin asked.
“Huh!”. I said surprised.
“I want us to get married as soon as possible
babe”. Austin said with all seriousness.
“Don’t you think you are moving too fast?”. I
asked.
“I can’t wait to make you mine”. Austin said
grinning from cheek to cheek.
“Interesting”. I said.
My phone started ringing.
“Who is that?”. Austin asked seeing how
reluctant I was to take the call.
“It’s my husband”. I said.
“Put the phone on speaker”. Austin instructed.
I did as he instructed.
“Hello Elizabeth. I am so sorry for treating you
badly, please forgive me”. My husband said
from the other end of the line.
I was taken aback. I was never expecting to
apologize. Not in this life.
“Are you for real”. I asked surprised.
“I have thought about it, I don’t want to be apart
from you. Please come back home. Forgive this
clueless husband of yours”. My husband said.
I started crying.
“Well sorry to disappoint you, she’s mine now”.
Austin interrupted.
I was livid. I immediately ended the call.
“What was the meaning of that?”. I asked
angrily.
“I don’t understand you Elizabeth. Don’t tell me
you still want him back”. Austin fired.
“You have no right to meddle in my affairs like
that”. I said vibrating.
“You are funny Elizabeth. Have you forgotten
what that man did to you? He chose his family
over you. He chased you out of your
matrimonial home and crashed your business.
How can you be lenient with such a man?”.
Austin asked angrily.
“What are you even feeling like? If it’s because
of this house you got me that’s making you
rude, then I no longer want it”. I said angrily and
walked out of the house.
My husband on the other hand was still calling
my phone nonstop.
