Chapter 13β 14
When Leah got home, she met Mrs. Collins in
the living room.
She greeted her and made her way towards her
room, but Mrs. Collins stopped her.
Leah got scared because she thought the boys
had made a complaint.
Come have your seat,” Mrs. Collins said.
Leah smiled nervously, dragging her feet
towards the chair.
I don’t have much time left, Mrs. Collins said.
When she raised her head up,she was shocked
to see Leah in tears.
What happened? Mrs. Collins asked
But instead of Leah to stop crying, she increased
the volume.
Are you okay? Mrs. Collins asked, as she did not
know why or what caused the tears on her face.
How can I be okay when you are dying Soon?
Leah said
You can’t just leave like this; you need to live so
that you can take care of your children.
What do you want the boys to do? How do you
want them to feel? Leah asked Mrs. Collins who
looked more confused.
What do you mean by that? Mrs. Collins asked
Are you not trying to tell me you are dying soon?
Leah said as she cleaned her nose with the
back of her hand.
Dying? Who is dying here? Mrs. Collins asked
Was that not what you were trying to say? Leah
asked
I don’t understand what you are saying. “Mrs.
Collins said looking at her
You said you don’t have much time, and in the
movies I watched
That was how they used to start their words
whenever the person was dying soon, and that
always happened to rich people, Leah said.
Mrs. Collins smiles at her foolishness. I don’t
mean that.
You got me wrong dear. You should have
allowed me to talk before crying.
I’m not dying, nor is my day number; I’m just
trying to tell you about my trip, Mrs. Collins said.
I’m sorry, “I’m sorry, ma’am.” Leah said, avoiding
her gaze.
Is okay, Mrs. Collins said
As I was saying, I will be away for a while, and
the reason I’m telling you this is because of the
boys.
You have to be careful and take good care of
them. When I’m back, I must see changes in
them.
I’m telling you all this because I trust you; don’t
break my trust and take care of yourself as well,
said Mrs. Collins, standing up.
When will you be back? Leah asked
I can’t say, that has not been scheduled, but I
will let you know.” Mrs. Collins said and walked
out.
I’m screwed” Leah said as she was walking
towards the stairs like someone who had lost
her soul.
I’m sure I will die before you come back.” She
said as she was climbing the stairs:
Should I quit? She thought
No! I can’t, she said Shaking her head, If I quit,
they will think I’m a coward.” Leah said trying to
open the door to her room.
She stopped trying when she noticed that the
door was locked.
I didn’t lock it when I was going to school; how
come it’s now locked? Leah thought
Looking for this? Anderson said was showing
her the key.
Did you lock the door to my room? Leah asked
an annoying
Yes ! Anderson said
Why ? Leah asked
No reason,” Anderson said, and he walked
away.
Leah wanted to shout, but when she felt a sharp
pain in her head, she sat down in front of the
door.
My head hurts, she said sadly.
I can’t go to Mura; I can’t bother her on this, she
said, placing her bag on the floor.
She rested her head on it. I should manage it
this way.
When he gets tired, he will open it, “Leah said.
One hour later
Caden climbed the stairs with his headphone
on.
He stopped on his track when he heard
someone humming a song.
This voice “He said going downstairs to check
who the person is.
After checking for a while, he didn’t see anyone.
He headed back to his room. He stopped
walking when he saw Leah sleeping on the
floor.
Why is she here? He thought about it and
moved closer to her.
He also tried to open the door, but it was locked.
Did she lose the key? Caden thought and tried to
leave, but Leah held his legs, murmuring some
words.
He bent down and removed her hand. ,I think I
should teach you some lessons, “Caden
thought, carrying Leah.
He headed downstairs towards the store. When
he got to the store,
He opened the door and dropped Leah there.
Sleep here; this place is better than where you
were sleeping before, he said and left.
~Aiden’s room~
He kept searching the room over and over
again.
Where did I put it? He said and ran his fingers
over his hair in frustration.
Did any maids enter my room? He asked no one
in particular.
Anderson entered his room and sat on his bed.
Why did you mess up the room? He asked,
looking around.
My lucky charm, “Aiden said
Lucky charm? Anderson asked
Yes! That necklace that I told you I collected
from a girl ten years ago “,Aiden explains.
Is that your lucky charm? Anderson asked,
laughing at him.
You can’t understand. Just get out of my room.”
Aiden said angrily
Why are you holding on to that necklace?
Anderson asked
If you don’t have anything to say, then get out,
or else I will struggle you to death, “Aiden said.
Anderson stood up. When you see it, let me
know I will be in the Studio room, “Anderson
said and walked out.
Where could it be? It’s late already, Aiden said.
If it is not in my room, then the only place it
could be is the store, he said.
Let me check it out first. I don’t want to lose that
necklace. He thought going to the store.
When he got there, he turned on the light and
started looking for it.
He screamed when he felt someone holding his
leg.
Ghost! He said and started shaking.
He gathered up his courage and checked who
the person was.
You ? He said when he saw Leah sleeping
Nanny! He said as he was tapping her.
She is boiling. What is she doing here? He said
checking her temperature.
I didn’t come here to do this, he said, turning
back.
If she dies here, Collins reputation will be
spoiled, he thought before going back to carry
her.
What is she doing here in the first place? He
said he was going towards her room.
When he got there, he opened the door and
entered.
He dropped her on the bed and helped her
remove the strands of hair on her face.
To be continue
