Sophie’s pov ?
I widden my eyes in shock,what the hell is she doing here?
“Why are you here?”I asked
“Dressed like this?”I added staring at her
She is putting on an apron over the dress
“I’m very sorry, ma’am”she pleaded averting my gaze from me to mom
Is she kidding me right now?or have I become invisible?
She bent down and started picking up the broken pieces of the cup while I just stared on.The glass pricked her making me stand up from the couch
“Ouch”she whimpered trying to clean up the blood that was already gushing out with her cloth
“What the hell are you doing?”I yelled at her making her stand up
“Do you know her?”mom asked
“She is my friend”
“You made friends with a commoner?”
“She is a good girl,mom.I found myself going close to her”
“This is unbelievable,how will it be captioned by the press”
“I don’t get you,mom”
“The almighty daughter of minister of finance is seen with a commoner”
“I don’t care about the press,mom”I yelled
Tracy gave my hand a little squeeze,I turned to face her
“Am very sorry, ma’am.I’ll just go on with the work”she said bowing down
“You are coming with me”I uttered dragging her to the direction of my room
“What are you doing?”she whispered
“Is helping my friend a crime?”
“How about your mom?she don’t seem okay with this”
“And so?”
We got to my room which was the first room after the taking the stairs.I made her sit on the bed while I went to get the first aid box.
“I feel bad,you should have acted like you didn’t know me”
“I am not the type to pretend”I muttered.
I applied ointment the cut before placing a plaster on it.I slumped on the bed lying beside her.What is wrong with Mom?
“I’ll take my leave now”
“Why,you just got here?”I posted flapping my lashes cutely
“I came here to work but I’ve done a lot already”she mumbled
“Your dad is back, Sophie”mom called out
My eyes beamed in happiness
“Let’s go”I said excitedly pulling her along
“Just kill me already”she said dramatically slumping on the floor
“What do you mean?”
“You dad is gonna kill me if he finds me here,is there a way I can escape?how far is your window from the ground?”she blabbed
I rolled my eyes now understanding her
“Dad is not like that”
I pulled her out of the room
“Dad”I called as soon as we got downstairs
I rushed to hug him and he reciprocated
“How are you doing, princess”
“Am not fine dad,mom told me to stop being friends with her”I said pointing to Tracy who was playing with her nails nervously
“Why will she do that?”
“She is a commoner,Greg”mom interrupted
“What’s wrong with making friends with commoners?are they not humans?”I yelled at her
A slap landed on my face making me numb,tears streamed down my face
“Why did you slap her?”dad said looking at mom angrily
“I just did the needful,she is becoming mannerless because of a gold digger”mom replied also shouting
“When did you turn like this, Octavia?”
“I just don’t want anything to do with commoners”
I looked at them darting my eyes from Mom to dad.This is the first time they will be arguing in my presence.I swallowed hard and turned to Tracy who had tears in her eyes.She waved at me before running off.
“Tracy”I called and meant to go after her when mom voice stopped me
“If you go after her,you won’t like the repercussion”
“I h@të you mom”I yelled rushing up to my room.I banged the door angrily not leaving the door post.I squatted hugging my knees.I bursted into tears,does this mean I have lost Tracy??NO MORE FRIEND FOR ME!!!!
Derrick pov ?
The gentle breeze blew making me close my eyes.I’d thought the evening walk would help but it seems to be useless.
I shook my head trying to free my head from the thoughts that filled my head.
My dad is one of the richest in California but what’s riches without happiness.I am a product of broken marriage.Mom was betrothed to dad so they had to get married,it was a loveless marriage so they got separated soon
Dad is really a monster and the news confirmed it all.I heard from the news that Kira,my elder sister who is staying with dad has the court arranged it during the divorce process,is getting married to a young billionaire, Michel Desmond.
Dad would have forced her into it in order to gain more popularity and expand his wealth.He is a devil in human form.
I shut my eyes tightly fighting back the painful memories but it came in full force.I remembered the ordeal I and Kira went through with him anytime mom is on a business trip.
It was toture living in him but luckily I was made to stay with Mom after the divorce.Karen is really trying hard staying with him.
I bit my lower lips trying to prevent myself from bursting into tears but I couldn’t help it.I sobbed like a baby.
“It’s fine”someone said tapping me on my back lightly.
“It’s not fine, it’s hell”I said
“We all have problems we are facing but we just have to open up so it will hurt less”the girl said hugging me
On a normal day,I would have pushed the person off but I desperately need it.A way to calm my nerves.
I whimpered for a while before calming down,I looked up to the person and I was shocked
“Tracy”I called out and she let out a sad smile
I hastily cleaned my tears
“Have seen it already, crybaby”
“I might be your illusion”
“It’s not,I saw it with my two eyes”
“You should have just said four eyes since you are seeing another thing,why would a boy like me cry?”I said with a sneer
Just then my phone rang,I checked the caller before picking up.it’s Kevin one of my friends
“Kevin,what do you want?”I asked dryly
“You have to come quick”he said,I could sense urgency in his voice
“What’s wrong?”I panicked making Tracy stare at me
“You have to come now”he ordered in the same tone before hanging up
“I guess you have to go now”Tracy said with a small smile
“I’ll see you In school”I rushed and pecked her on her forehead before leaving.

I got home and as expected no one is at home.Mom actually called me earlier on to assign me to work at Sophie’s house as she got another place to Clean.
I went to my room reminiscing on what happened at Sophie’s house.Is it my fault I was born poor?I never wished to be a commoner,why will she treat me like that?
I took my phone to call Derrick so as to ask of his welfare but stopped when something flashed my memory.Right,the picture mom was holding the other time.
I rushed to her room to check for it.i checked under the pillow but I found nothing.I tilted my head sideways trying to think,I saw mom keeping it there or did she perhaps change the location?
If she did,why? could it be something she don’t want me to see? Curiosity got the better part of me as I flipped over the duvet but I found nothing.
I checked the bedside locker,the vanity table but still the same thing.i scratched my hair trying to think.i check the drawer and I found a picture.
I gasped covering my mouth with my hand,the man in the picture looks like me!!
