TALES OF THE HEART – Episode 23

Palace, 08:03pm**
The hall was so spacious, beautifully decorated with people entering in their numbers. Since it was only the supernatural who knew about the Queen and other tales related to it, they were the only ones present.
The supernatural entered in their number. Both the old and young ones were there. Kadence and co. walked in while admiring the hall.
Before anybody could enter, the person was thoroughly checked in case it was an intruder or a spy.
Zara and Reina couldn’t come since to the others they were normal human beings.
“See you guys later…”Sophia said and walked away with Connor.
Eric and Lisa went to Eric’s parents. Since they were supernatural too, they came.
“Eric” Calvin (Eric’s junior bro) rushed to him and hugged him.
Eric carried him and hugged him tightly. Honestly he missed them a lot. Lisa hugged Eric’s mother.
“We missed you guys so much. How is Diamond High?” Eric’s mother asked.
“Is that lasagna that I see? Omg!” Emma said and rushed to get some from the banquet.
“Wanna dance?” Gideon asked Nora.
“Oh…hmm” She nodded with a smile. He stretched his hand and she took it before they left for the dance floor.
Kadence scratched her neck uncomfortably when it was only her and Liam standing. Romeo already left to see Eric’s parents.
Liam was busy pressing his phone. He looked up and saw it was only him and Kadence. That prompted him to keep his phone in his pockets.
“Let’s get something to drink” Liam said and held Kadence’s hand. She looked at their hands and then at him. Right now, she could feel the sparks going on.
A waiter passed by and served them two non-alcoholic wines. They sipped on it.
“You look extremely beautiful tonight” Liam said, still not getting his eyes off her body.
“Thanks” Kadence replied.
The sound of a trumpet was heard. They turned to where it was…
“My fellow men and women. If we are here it is not just to party but to grieve too. Today makes it exactly 18 years since our beloved queen passed away. Our kind will never be the same without her…” A priest said with a sad face.
“Tonight we’re gonna give the floor to our highness princess Kaitlyn to pay her homage to her beloved mother” The priest said.
Kaitlyn slowly descended the stairs majestically looking as beautiful as ever. The people whom she passed bowed slightly to her.
She walked to wear a golden coffin was placed and then touched it with a sad smile on her face.
“Will forever miss you mom” She said and kissed the white rose she held in her hand before placing it on the coffin. She bowed deeply before retreating…
The others then followed. Those who had their homage to pay, paid it by placing white roses round the coffin…
“That must be sad. Losing your mother before you grow up” Kadence said sadly.
“I pity Kaitlyn. Even if I never knew who my real family is, at least I was adopted and I had a taste of what family love was. She has a huge responsibility to carry out at such a tender age.” Kadence said, watching Kaitlyn…
“That’s life to you. Wanna dance?” Liam asked, placing his glass on the table.
“Gladly…” Kadence replied and placed her tiny hands on his. He held it and they walked to the dance floor.
Liam snaked his hand on Kadence’s waist holding the other hand. Kadence placed her free hand on his shoulder.
Some other people were also dancing crowding up the dance floor.
They began swaying to the rhythm of the music. Kadence’s gaze never left Liam’s face the same as Liam.
She suddenly began remembering how they met, how he always protects her, how he always wants her to give her best, how he always helps her achieve her goals…
“Why can’t you love me?” Kadence suddenly asked with eyes that looked at him with nothing but….love.
“I’m sorry, what?” Liam asked with furrowed brows.
“Why can’t you love me, the way I do?” She asked. Liam halted on his movements. What followed was a staring competition.
Kadence held his hand and placed it on her chest.
“Feel how fast my heart is beating. That’s how fast it beats each time I’m with you. I tried controlling it but I just couldn’t. You make me smile without even trying, you always care for me and always protect me just like a guardian angel will do. Tell me are you the man in my dreams?” Kadence asked.
Liam opened his mouth to speak then closed it back. He opened again and closed it back. His greatest fear finally came true…
Kadence suddenly hugged him tightly…
“I know it might sound shameless for a girl to ask a guy out but imma do it. I love you so much and I can’t take it anymore. Can I be yours?” Kadence muttered.
Liam took deep breaths and held her shoulders, pulling her away from him. He cupped her cheeks with a heavy look on his face.
“Kitty, I’m sorry but my answer is a no. We aren’t meant for each other…” Liam said.
“But why?…” Kadence asked, already feeling teary.
“It just can’t be. You’re pretty and all but I just can’t, I’m a magnet of danger and I don’t want you getting hurt. I can’t take it” Liam spoke softly.
“I will bear the danger. No matter what it is” Kadence said with great determination.
“Kitty listen-”
Before he could finish talking, she shut him up by pressing her lips on his. His eyes widened in shock. She just kissed him!!
Kadence pulled away when he didn’t kiss her back.
“Please?” She whispered.
“I’m sorry” He whispered back and removed his hand from hers then turned and began walking away.
Kadence watched him as he walked out of the hall. She turned and ran away in tears. The pin she used to pack her hair up fell, making her hair flow behind as she ran.

“I love you” Kadence’s words rang in his head. He closed his eyes, trying to shake it off but it was impossible.
“It’s for the better Kitty. I’m not gonna bring any good things except pain and regret to you” Liam muttered.
Liam looked around. No one was looking in his direction. He vanished away.
Almost immediately, the vampires surrounded the palace. Liam was unaware…
DEMON KINGDOM
“Your majesty! The crowned prince has returned” A maid announced rather fearfully. Everyone knows the crowned prince is very very ruthless…
“Wow! Maybe he has a very wonderful surprise for us. Let him in!” King Rhys said while smiling…
The maid left. Sounds of footsteps were heard coming.
“Welcome back your highness” The guards bowed deeply while greeting.
King Rhys smile grew when he walked in the throne room.
“I missed you so much son” Rhys smiled.
“Summon Khalil and that useless Reina… Now!!!” Guillermo said with nothing but raw anger in his face….
