CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR: CHLOE’S MEMORIES 1
The dream was too vivid, was too clear for me to ignore, I stood right there, staring at Thanatos, he looked so interested, so In loved…. A look I have never gotten from him.
” are you sure it’s safe for you to be here?” He mumble, his gaze looking everywhere but yet not meeting mine.
” yes, Chloe have it arranged” macaria smile ” you weren’t really expecting to see her right?”
” of course not ” he step closer ” I knew you would show up” macaria smile from that before stepping close ” but where is Chloe?” What amaze me was the fact that even in my dream, my heart still aches
” why do you ask of her?” Macaria look at him with anger ” don’t tell me you have grown fond of her ”
” macaria, she is a friend!!!!” He growl ” why are you getting worked up? You and I know that we will not be together”
” Kiss me ” macaria voice made my hand move to my chest, I watch them, how Thanatos couldn’t refuse her, how he lean close and kiss her with so much gentleness in his movements.
It was a dream but still vivid, it was a dream but my heart ache so badly from it ” do you know macaria?” I asked when Thanatos was on his way to the kitchen, he stopped then look at me with surprise in his eyes ” I dreamt about you two kissing, it felt so real ”
” hmmm”
” is it just a dream?”
” no ” he smiles ” macaria is the woman I fancy ”
I frown at that ” why is she in my dreams?”
” I can’t answer that Chloe ”
” if you fancy her, why won’t you just stay with her ”
” they are things that simply can’t be ” his voice remain calm, unshaken ” now, sit still while I prepare lunch ” and just like that, he walk into the kitchen while I remain on the couch, looking down I frown, he loves macaria? He can’t be with her?
Isn’t that all bullSh|t? Why am I in the middle of everything? Is he toying with me?
Lately I have been seeing things I don’t even know about, why was I with Thanatos? Is not even a place I know…. What confuses me most in that dream was the fact that I had light green hair, how is that even possible? That’s not a colour humans can get
” why can’t I just get to the root of everything?” I mumble ” they keep putting me in the dark ”
” want to know the truth?” A female voice startled me, I look around but no one in sight ” the truth will find you in few days, they are coming after all ” it was same whispers I kept hearing but this time, it’s a little bit clear
” she can understand us?”
” but the barrier is too strong to break!!”
Getting scared, I stood up and rush to the kitchen, Thanatos just stood there with a knife in his hand, Onion on the table and tears dropping from his eyes, he looks at me ” they wont stop ” he frown ” it itches too ”
” what are you doing?”
” trying to cook?”
” what are you cooking?” I open the pot just to find water, nothing else and he is chopping the Onions? ” Thanatos”
” I really suck at cooking” he give out an awakard smile which made me laugh ” I know am the one that made the offer but….”
” you were trying to avoid me?”
” you could say that ”
” hmmm” looking at him, he drop the knifes, wash his hand and clear his throat
” are you still hungry?”
” what do you think?”
” that’s a yes, I will think of something ”
” let me cook ” moving to the cupboard, I stare at the ingredients before deciding to prepare white rice and chicken soup with veggies at the side ” help with the chicken ”
” what do you need me to do?”
” wash them with some lemon then slice them ”
I am angry with Thanatos, super angry but the time in the kitchen, I found us laughing over silly things, mostly what he is doing and him leaning close to kissing me occasionally but yet, he says he fancy another.
I can’t help to think, what about me? Where do I stand?
” that was the best meal I have eaten in a long time” he announces as we sit together on the couch, close to the fire to keep us warm.
” really?” I look at him but something was different, the way he smiles and nod his head ” Thanatos?”
” do not ask, I know a lot of things must be bothering you but please don’t ” his eyes pleading ” let’s enjoy these few days before anything happen ”
” what do you mean?”
” Chloe ” he lift up a novel ” want me to read it for you?” I know this is a way of him trying to change the conversation, I have no need to force feelings here so I just nod and watch him read…. I know he is saying something but I can’t hear anything, all I can remember was the first day we met, how I proposed and ask for him to marry me.
He laughed and found me entertaining, but what about now? What do he think of me? Am I still worth staying by his side? I mean I deserve better, I deserve someone who is open to their feelings ” what do you think love is?” Thanatos asked and close the novel, his gaze meet mine ” what’s love Chloe ”
” huh?” I blink back into reality ” you’re asking me?” He remain quiet, just look at me which made me realize that he is awaiting my reply ” love is a feeling you have to someone?” I wasn’t sure of my reply
” how do you know you love someone?”
” when you can’t stay a day without seeing or talking to this person, when just looking at him you feel happy, relief and over joyful, when he is sad you are not happy either ……. When he looks at another, your heart ache ”
” after saying all these ” he lean close ” do you think you love me?” His question made me flushed, did I ever mention to him how I felt?
” wh….wh…why are you…you suddenly talking about lo…lo..love?” Stammering I withdraw backwards, giving us enough space ” do you love me?”
” I believe I do ” his expression empty, I mean that is not how one should look while confessing, with this look I don’t even know if I should be happy or sad ” not you but macaria ” that ruined my thoughts
” huh ”
” But I want you close, I need you to be where I can see you”
” you’re joking” I stood up and he did same ” what are you even saying?”
” Chloe, am trying to be honest ”
” you want to be with macaria?” I frown ” then go to her ”
” I can’t possibly leave you!!” He yell ” you will literally die without me!” Those words hurt me, I knew he was being protective of me but they still hurt.
” Thanatos” I move close to him, lift my hand and slap him across the face ” go to hell ” he grab my hand, stopping me from moving forward
” that’s where am from” pulling me closer, his right hand grab my neck and crush his lips on mine but that didn’t stop me from struggling, I h@të him, I don’t want him touching me.
Everything he said was hurtful, my heart ache so bad, a kind of pain I have never felt before, my eyes felt wet, cheeks wet too….. Thanatos let go of me, the look of surprise in his eyes, I touch my cheek and realize I was crying and it won’t stop flowing, the pain in my heart won’t go away too
” Chloe ” he step closer but I move backwards.
” don’t touch me ” meeting his gaze, I growl ” don’t ever touch me in your filthy life, ever again again!!!”
