Chapter 54
“Start talking,” Logan ordered and slowly let go of him. He was ready to take on this guy right now, not minding that he had so many deep scratches and holes in his body from teeth and claws.
Elijah sighed in relief and straightened his collar that had been roughed up by Logan. “Oh man, you werewolves and ego, I just saved your life, the least you could do was say thank you,” he teased.
“Shut up, I can take care of myself and I had everything under control, you show up at the last minute and make it sound like you did the entire job. You won’t even stand a chance against one of those men in a fresh fight, so just shut up and start talking!!” Logan yelled.
Elijah scratched his head and wore a petrified face in pretense. “Oh man, you really have a temper, any way I am sorry for what I did earlier today, I know you are really pissed at me and you have your spies looking for me so that you skin me alive, you should hire a better man by the way, that guy is good at finding trails but he isn’t capable of closing a case.”
Logan growled and headed for him with a clenched fist. “Stop blabbing about the unnecessary and just tell me what you have done with the ancestral tree bible, who did you give it to? Why did you even steal it in the first place? I never trusted you and my instincts were right as always, what the hell do you want from us? What do you want from my sister?” he queried in a fit of rage.
“I love her,” Elijah replied immediately.
Logan rushed at him and pinned him to the tree again in one swift move. “Say her name one more time and I will rip your tongue out of your throat!!” he threatened.
“Um, easy dude… are you going to let me explain or what?” Elijah asked while trying to free Logan’s hands from choking him to death.
Logan took a deep breath in and then exhaled slowly as he let go of Elijah’s collar, he slowly dusted it and took a step back. “Last chance,” he said calmly
Elijah smiled as if nothing had happened and took a step closer to the angry Alpha. “Well, I will get to the apology part later. I am from one of the oldest Vampire tribes in the world and I used to base in Italy even though I am a citizen of this country,” he started.
Logan crumpled his face and Elijah didn’t need to hear the words to know what the Alpha was thinking, he threw his hands up in the air immediately.
“Alright, fine… no more introductions, I know I talk a lot, that is why your sister loves me,” he said and Logan snarled at him with glowing red eyes. “Sorry, that was the last one, I will get to the point now,” he uttered.
Obviously Logan was a man of little patience at times, he was short-fused which means he could get triggered at any moment, he was only calm around Orla, maybe she was his kryptonite.
“I came here a few months back because our Grandmaster obviously had some beef with the Crescent Moon Pack of wolves which had originated from Scotland. He believed that they had moved to America and I needed to find them, so he sent me here. My mission was to learn every detail about them; each component family that made up the Pack and exactly where to find them.
I was supposed to learn their everyday life, their schedule, how many generations they had left alive, every little detail about them. So I decided to start by finding the Alpha. I understood that you were a tough one and I wouldn’t be able to get any information off you, so I chose to befriend your sister in order to get the information out of her.
At first, I only intended to use her, when I couldn’t get information from her, I planned to make her trust and love me enough to trick her into bringing me home, but honestly, with time I fell in love with her. I didn’t want to do what I did last night but I knew that the grandmaster would send for my head if I betrayed him. I was scared for my life and so I carried out my original plan of betraying her.
I thought I would get on a flight and head back to Italy, I would deliver the ancestry bible to the grand master and I would move on, probably fall in love again with someone else, but I was wrong… I realized that I couldn’t do it, I couldn’t leave her behind… I know you don’t trust me, but believe me, I do love your sister.” Elijah explained and paused.
Logan was quiet, waiting for him to conclude while he wore a poker face to hide his expressions, he was also sensing the emotions from the vampire as he spoke, they were genuine and his words sounded true as well. Vampires were tricky however and so it was going to be risky trusting him blindly.
“Anyway, I didn’t do it, I didn’t give the ancestral lineage bible to anyone, I have it and I am going to return it. I know I have messed up and broken all of your trusts, but all I ask is a second chance with your sister and family. I know you generally h@të vampires and now me personally, and I can’t blame you for that, you have every right to h@të my kind just as much as we have reasons to h@të your kind, but I don’t intend to bring you any problems, I don’t want to be like the other Vampires and I am only taking this decision because love is found once in a love time and I will make any sacrifice to have it.
If you have ever been in love, then you will know what I am talking about. I am willing to pay the price, I am going to do anything to be with Hazel, please just offer me a second chance and feel free to not trust me until you feel I have earned it,” he pleaded.
Logan could relate with Elijah’s heartfelt words, the part about falling in love, he also knew he would do things for Orla, he would kill and die for her, love was a crazy feeling that could make you take uncalculated risks.
He sighed and walked to Elijah, looked him in the eyes and then tapped him on the shoulders. “Alright, you can have your second chance right after I get the file, as for my trust… like you said, you would have to earn it as you never had it in the first place, and you are lucky my sister loves you too, you have to regain her trust as well if you want her.” He gave his reply and Elijah smiled, and then nodded.
It was dark already and Logan needed to get back home. Logan heard a groan and looked down; it was the first guy he had injured trying to get up while groaning in pain.
“Let me take care of him, he is as good as dead anyway,” Elijah requested.
Logan sighed. “Go ahead, do your thing, I will be at home,” he replied and walked away. The Alpha hadn’t gone far when he heard the werewolf screaming, well he already knew what would happen; it gets nasty when vampires feed.
On a normal day, he would never let a vampire drink from a werewolf, but he was already breaking so many rules, one more wouldn’t hurt. Hopefully, this is a new beginning for the best!
