CHAPTER 55

JAMES POV

I wake up to the sound of the alarm clock ringing. It’s Monday morning, and I’ve got to get up and get ready for work. I’ve been in Seattle for a few months now, trying to start a new life. It’s been a struggle, but I’m making it work.

I get out of bed and stretch my arms before making my way to the bathroom. . My bathroom was small, but it had everything i needed. The walls were painted white, and the floors were tiled in a light grey color. As you entered the bathroom, the toilet was on the left side, and a small sink with a mirror hung above it was on the right. The sink had a small counter, just enough to hold a toothbrush, a cup, and a bar of soap. The faucet was chrome, and the water flowed smoothly, a luxury that i appreciated.

The bathtub was in the center of the bathroom, and it was small but deep enough to soak in comfortably. A showerhead was attached to the wall above the tub, and a curved shower rod held a white shower curtain. The tiles in the bathtub area were a darker shade of grey and looked well-maintained. There was a small window above the bathtub that provided natural light and could be opened to let in fresh air.

The bathroom had a medicine cabinet mounted on the wall above the sink. It had a mirror on the outside and shelves on the inside that held my toiletries. I kept my toothbrush, toothpaste, razor, and shaving cream in the medicine cabinet. A small towel rack was attached to the wall next to the medicine cabinet, and a stack of clean towels was neatly folded on a shelf underneath.

After grabbing a quick breakfast, I head out to my car and drive to work. The drive is long and tedious, but I try to make the most of it by listening to some music or an audiobook.

When I get to work, I’m greeted by my boss, Mr. Johnson. He’s a nice guy, but he can be a bit demanding at times. I head to my desk and start going through my emails and case files.

After a few hours of work, I take a quick break and check my phone. I see that I’ve got a missed call from an unknown number. I listen to the voicemail, and it’s a message from one of my old friends from England. He tells me that he heard from someone that Amy was in England for an engagement party. I quickly called him but his contact went straight to voicemail.
I pick up my phone and start scrolling through my contacts, searching for someone who might know where Amy is. I was determined to do wh@tΓ«ver it took. I came across Ray’s contact and I quickly called him. Ray was born and bred in England and has a great love for tea, beer, and football (soccer). He is polite, reserved, and with a dry sense of humor. Fashion-wise, he loves classic styles such as tailored suits and tweed jackets. He picked on the second ring.

“Hey man, it’s James. I was wondering if you knew where Amy is. I need to talk to her.”

After a long pause, my friend, Ray finally responds. “James, I don’t know if that’s a good idea. She’s moved on. You hurt her pretty badly, man.”

“I know I messed up, but I have to try. Can you at least tell me where she is?”

My friend sighs. “Last I heard, she was in England.”

My heart sinks at the thought of Amy being in England. I miss her so much, and I can’t stop thinking about her. I realize that I need to make things right with her. I need to go to England and win her back.
I needed to inform my boss beforehand. I walked nervously into Mr. Johnson’s office and took a seat in front of his desk. My mind was racing as I tried to figure out how to ask for time off work without revealing the real reason. After a few moments of silence, Mr. Johnson looked up from his work and asked, “What can I do for you, James?”

I took a deep breath and decided to be honest. “Sir, I need two weeks off to go to England.”

Mr. Johnson raised an eyebrow in surprise. “England? What for?”

I hesitated for a moment, then said, “It’s personal. I need to take care of some things.”

Mr. Johnson looked at me for a few seconds, then nodded. “Alright, James. You’ve been a good employee and I trust you. Take the time you need.”

I felt relieved and grateful. “Thank you, sir. I won’t let you down.”

As I left his office, my mind was racing with thoughts of Amy and what I would do when I got to England. I knew I had to win her back, but I didn’t know how. I needed to come up with a plan.

The rest of the day at work is a blur. All I can think about is Amy and how I’m going to make things right with her. I finish up my work and head back to my apartment.

My apartment is small, but it’s cozy. It’s located in a nice part of town, and I can see the city skyline from my window. I’ve tried to make it feel like home by adding some personal touches like photos and artwork. The living room, which is the heart of the apartment. It’s a small space, but I’ve tried to make it as comfortable as possible. There’s a comfortable sofa that faces the TV, which is mounted on the wall. I’ve also placed a small coffee table in front of the sofa, where I keep my books and magazines.

On the left side of the living room is a small kitchenette, where I prepare my meals. It’s not a full-sized kitchen, but it has all the essentials, such as a small stove, a microwave, and a refrigerator. There’s also a small dining table with two chairs where I usually eat my meals.

On the right side of the living room is the entrance to the bathroom, which is quite small. It’s functional, though, and it has a shower, a sink, and a toilet. I’ve tried to make the most of the limited space by adding some shelves and hooks on the walls to store my toiletries and towels.

Finally, there’s a small bedroom at the back of the apartment, which is my private space. It’s just big enough to fit a double bed and a small wardrobe. There’s a window that lets in some natural light, which I love. I’ve tried to keep the decor simple and minimalistic, with white walls and just a few pieces of furniture.

I flop down on my couch and start thinking about my plan. I know I need to go to England, but I don’t have the money for a plane ticket. I start scouring the internet for cheap flights and find one that’s within my budget.

I book the flight and start packing my bags. I try to pack light, but it’s hard when I don’t know how long I’ll be staying in England. I throw some clothes, toiletries, and my passport into a backpack.
Finally, the day of my departure arrives. I board the plane, feeling a mix of excitement and anxiety. It’s a long flight, but I spend the entire time thinking about Amy and what I can do to win her back.
As I’m waiting for my flight, I can’t help but feel nervous. What if Amy doesn’t want to see me? What if she’s moved on? I try to push those thoughts out of my mind and focus on my plan.
As the plane lands in London, I can feel my heart racing. I take a deep breath and remind myself that I have to be patient. I can’t just show up on her doorstep unannounced. I have to take things slowly and give her space. I am exhausted from the long flight. I check into a hotel and try to get some rest. I try to stay busy to keep my mind off of Amy, but it’s hard. I’m constantly thinking about her and how much I miss her.
I grabbed my phone and was about to call Ray to ask for her exact location and address in London but I quickly disregarded that thought. I needed a plan. I remembered the shock on Amy’s face when I told her I was living a double life. It has been tough. I stayed away from her for her own good as the gang were hell bent on teaching me a lesson for running away with their money. I had to settle in Seattle and used the Maxwell connection to take care of the issue.
But I’m determined to make things right. I’m not going to give up on Amy. Not now, not ever.
