They all got out to be welcomed by her mom and some few staff of theirs who did their job by collecting their suitcase.
Its been years since she had seen her parents. After the unfair way they had treated her child. She had left to start and career and although she sent them the money due to them. She never once came back to visit them.
Her mother look thin and weary. Wasn’t she eating well she thought as she felt a bit of guilt.
She got to where they were with Gerald and John and also Nina and immediately her mom pulled her for a tight hug.
“You look chubby. What have you been eating ?”Was the first thing that came out of her mom mouth.
Its been years since they last saw each other and that was the first thing she could think of to ask her. What had she been thinking. She couldn’t expect her mom to turn to someone caring over night. All through her childhood to adulthood days. Her mother had only cared about how much she weighed and how she presented herself in front of everyone.
“I haven’t been eating much if that’s what you are asking”She replied even as her mother attention drifted off to Gerald.
“Have heard a lot about you from Arabella. She thinks your the best and have been telling me so ever since she got the job offer”Her mother enthused happily conveying her lie which got Arabella feeling embarrassed and Gerald a bit skeptical.
He knew her mother was lying just like she knew that her mother was lying.
“If you would go along with the maids. They will take you to your room”She said quickly to the trio even as she gave a helping look to John who understood the situation..
Leading the way to where he knew would be their since he has been here already and have suffered the same disscussion just like her mother was doing to Gerald right now.
“Why didn’t you let me speak to him?”Her mother admonished.
“To stop you from saying something foolish”She replied.
“Why would I say something foolish. Its your future that I have in mind and Gerald is your potential future for now”Her mother told her.
“Not this again mom. You were just telling me that John was the best future for me and now it’s Gerald?”She asked incredulously.
“It is. So try to seduce him or something. You are Ara after all. He won’t be able to resist your charms and….”
“Stop it mom! I didn’t come here to watch you try to set me up with the richest man here. I came to work and that’s what I will be doing. I will be heading to my room”She said as she walked past her.
“Won’t you do the host thing with me?”Her mother asked but she was care from listening. All she had in mind was to get to her room and get a little rest.
A continuous knock on her door woke her up. She had retired to her room and just like she wanted. She got to have the rest she longed for even though it was being ruined now.
She got out of bed and went to open the door looking sleepy and disheveled only to see Gerald standing by the door way. Dressed in a evening attire. Seems like it was dinner time.
“Your mom told me to get you for dinner. Is this how the waking Ara looks when she’s just getting out of bed?”He asked having a smile on his face.
Realising that she must look a mess. She shut the door on his face and turned back to the room only for her to go back to the door to pull it open a little.
“Since I look a mess. I will try to look presentable again. Give me a few minutes”She said as she shut the door once again heading back in to get ready.
Looking more presentable and good enough. She went back outside and was surprised to find Gerald still waiting.
“You should have gone back downstairs”She told him as she walked out of her room.
“I did but I was told to bring you down cause you might not show up”He replied.
“My mother can be over bearing sometimes. Am sorry”She replied as they both head downstairs.
“I somehow notice and i can tell you that I understand but it wasn’t your mother who asked me to come get you. It was your father”Gerald said only for her to stop midway.
She didn’t want to see her father. She’s still angry at him for the decision he made for her years ago.
Seeing him will only bring out the anger in her and she didn’t want Gerald to witness it since it has to do with Fiona but she had no choice but to go downstairs with him.
