“Help? Just when I needed your help and support what did you do ?”She asked glaring at him.
He looked away from her and went to his desk where he sat on his seat before answering her question..
“If you are talking about what happened years ago. You should quit it now. Its been a long time and you should forget it”He said dismissing it as if it was nothing, infruiating Arabella more.
“How can you say that? I thought that while all this years have passed you would feel a little guilt at having done that to her but still you don’t feel a thing”She said.
“Why? Why should I feel guilty when I was doing the right thing for……”
“You weren’t doing the right thing for me. I had gone to that party without your permission. I had slept with a stranger and had gotten pregnant. I should have been the one you punished but you had to take it out on that little girl! My daughter who I had given birth to had to pay for what I did”
“You didn’t even let me see her properly. As soon as she was born. You gave her up for adoption. I couldn’t do anything because i was just a child myself but I wanted my daughter with me”She said as the tears Kept coming.
“Stop being a fool. You were happy to have the child out of your life. Having her out of your life made you who you are today. Did you think anyone would have offered you a place if they had known about your dirty past?”Her father said.
“I never wanted it! I never wanted to be famous. I would have been contented with my daughter and wh@tëver job I get. Your greediness led you into taking away my child from me. I will forever remember what you did father and I will continue hating you for it”She yelled at him.
“h@të me all you can. I did what was best for the family and you should be grateful to me. If it weren’t for my decision, you wouldn’t be here so enough of this baby talk. She’s long gone already. Get married and have another child”He said trying to dismiss the topic.
“You almost suceedded in getting rid of her but luckily I managed to find her and am glad that the lady who adopted her made her feel so much love. She made her feel secure and loved. Things I was denied to give her thanks to you”Arabella said startling her father.
“You found her?”He asked feeling a little unsure about her confession.
“I did and this time I won’t let you take her away from me. If I have to forget that you are my father just to protect my child. So be it”She threatened as she stormed out of the room not bothering to answer her father call.
Arabella ran to the garden where she found a quiet spot to cry her eyes out. He didn’t feel any remorse for her daughter and that alone hurt.
“Crying alone?”on hearing John voice she looked up to see him standing over her. Since there had been no place to seat she had crouched on the floor to cry.
She was lucky that it was John who found her cause she couldn’t stop her tears. John crouched in front of her wanting to pat her head but she hugged him instead.
He held her until she had no tears to cry again. She moved out of his arms to stare at him.
“No more tears to cry again?”John asked
“Am sorry”She replied as she tried to wipe her tears off his shirt but instead he held her hand.
“I heard your conversation with your dad. Did he really do that to you?”John asked.
“He did and he’s still willing to do more if I allow it”She replied.
“It must have been hard for you”John said
“It was but its a lot better now that have found my daughter. Where are the others?”She asked.
“Back in their rooms. You should have come with us. It would have saved you from having this confrontation with your dad. “John said.
“It had to happen someday. I kept bottling it in because of our relationship but now am done. I must have been so angry that I left the door open”She said remembering how she walked into her father study leaving the door wide open.
“Well at least am glad that you are the only one who heard “She added as she gave him a smile.
“Well actually there is something I have to tell you”John said suddenly.
