Jaime watched as Layla sat alone in her seat, he could sense that she was bored. He faced Mickey who was busy on his phone.
“I’ll be at Layla’s,” he said.
Mickey nodded.
“I hope you won’t get hurt again this time around,” he muttered. He knew how much Jaime loves Layla and he knows what he went through when he found out she was dating Wyatt.
Jaime smiled. He stood up and walked to Layla’s seat.
“Why do you love being alone?” He asked as he sat beside her.
Layla turned to look at him.
“What are you doing here?” She asked.
“Nothing, I just wanna stay with you since you’re alone,” he said.
Layla looked away and he sighed.
“You said I should help you with your math a few days ago, is it too late now?” He asked.
“No, I suck at it and it’s frustrating” Layla said as she looked at him again.
“Can you show me what’s giving you problems?”
“Sure” she took her book from her locker and Jaime smiled as he stared at her.
“Layla?” He called.
Layla took her gaze from her book and stared at him.
“Can we be friends?” He found himself asking.
“I’m not saying this out of pity, I just want to be your friend,” he quickly added.
Layla continued staring at him. She was surprised he was asking to be her friend.
They rarely talk to each other in school, she doesn’t have any friends so he asking to be her friend was a bit surprising to her.
“Sure,” she smiled.
Lilian watched them from afar, she bit her lips before looking away.
She couldn’t believe he was all over Layla now.
“Lilian,are you okay?” Tracy asked.
“I don’t think so. It hurts seeing your crush with another girl” Pearl said.
“But Jaime is in love with Layla, what are you gonna do?” Tracy asked.
“Why don’t you just let him know your feelings towards him?” Pearl asked.
Lilian sighed.
“You guys should stop, I’m not in the mood for this” she said.
Tracy and Pearl looked at themselves.
“Okay” they chorused.

LUNCH BREAK***
“Lilian, aren’t you going to the cafeteria?” Jaime asked Lilian.
“So, you finally realized I’m here,” Lilian said.
“I’m sorry, Layla was all alone, so I…”
She stood up before he could complete his words.
“Layla! Layla! Layla!” She screamed
“Why’s it all about her?”
“Lilian….”
“Because she broke up with Wyatt, does that mean you stand a chance with her? You are always with her, do you know how much that annoys me?” She shouted.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t neglect you on purpose,” Jaime said.
Lilian shook her head before running out of the class.
Jaime turned to Layla who had been listening to everything they were saying.
“You should go after your friend” Layla forced a smile at him.
“I’m sorry” Jaime muttered before running after Lilian.
Layla bit her lips. Maybe avoiding him will be the best, she wouldn’t want to be bone of contention in their friendship.
Wyatt entered the class and when he sighted Layla alone in the class, he went to meet her.
“Baby” he called.
“Don’t call me that” Layla stared at him in nothing but hatred.
“I’m sorry. It was a play, but that isn’t it anymore. I love you, I swear I fell for you” he said.
Layla chuckled
“Do you expect me to believe that Sh|t again?”
“You know what? Do me the favor of staying away from me” she muttered.
“Baby…”
“Stop calling me that! Do you know what I’m regretting right now? I regret ever accepting being your girlfriend because the only thing you did was to add to my pains!” She shouted.
She glared at him before storming out of the class.
Wyatt hit the table in anger. How’s he going to make her trust him again?

“Lilian! Wait please!” Jaime yelled as he ran after Lilian.
Lilian stopped just when she got to the football field.
“I’m sorry, okay? I’m sorry if I made you feel bad” Jaime said.
She turned to look at him.
“She was just alone and I felt…”
“Why do you care about her so much?” She cuts him off.
“You know the answer, Lilian”
“Then what about me? Don’t you love me too?” She asked before she could stop herself.
“It’s always about Layla, don’t you feel anything for me too? I like you, Jaime. I like you so much and I h@të it when you’re with Layla, it’s really hurting me”
Jaime staggered in shock after the revelation. He couldn’t believe his ears.
“Layla already broke up with Wyatt, but with the look of things, Wyatt still wants her back. Do you think you stand a chance with her?”
“Stop…”
“Jaime!”
“Stop!!” He shouted, looking at her with a look she has never seen on his face.
“Lilian, I like you but as a friend. Stop your feelings for me, Lilian, so you won’t get hurt” he said
Tears slipped down Lilian’s cheeks.
“You know how much I love you as a friend, let’s not end our friendship this way please” he muttered.
He turned to walk away, Lilian ran after him and hugged him from behind. She rested her head on his back.
“No please, I don’t want your friendship, Jaime. I don’t” she whispered as she cries.
Jaime broke the hug, he turned to her and cupped her cheeks in his hands. Tenderly, he wiped her tears.
“Lilian, I love Layla and you know that. My heart beats for only her, I don’t want you to get hurt, so please stop your feelings for me” he said. He turned and then walked away.
Lilian fell to the floor, her hand went to her chest as her tears fell heavily.
“I don’t want you as a friend anymore” she cries.

AT THE AIRPORT***
Charles and Hailey alighted from the jet. They were led to the car where Charles’ bodyguards were already waiting.
“Welcome Boss!” They greeted.
Charles faced Hailey.
“For now, you need to go home and rest. You can resume work whenever you like” he said.
“I’m not going to do that, expect me tomorrow, sir Charles” she smiled.
Charles frowned.
Hailey giggled and entered the car. She popped her head outside and blew a kiss at him.
Charles smiled before entering the car, he sat beside her.
The guards exchanged glances between themselves. It was an odd sight for them seeing their Boss acting this way.
“Dad asked us to visit as soon as we arrived… When should we do that?” He asked.
“Tomorrow, I think,” Hailey said.
“Cool..I’ll call him to tell him about that” Charles said.
They got to Hailey’s house and the car parked in front of the restaurant.
“I’ll call you tonight,” Charles said.
Hailey nodded with a smile. She was about to open the car door when Charles caught her hand.
She turned to him with a questioning look on her face.
Charles pouted his lips and tapped it twice.
She chuckled and leaned over to him. She placed a peck on it and Charles frowned.
Just as she was about to pull her away, he grabbed her by the waist and deepened the kiss, kissing her for a very long time.
He pulled away when he was satisfied and Hailey hit his chest.
“I love you” he muttered.
Hailey smiled. She got out of the car and waved at him.
Charles winked at her before the car drove away.
Hailey entered the restaurant, her eyes fell on her parents who were busy talking on the counter.
“Guess who’s back?!”
At the sound of that voice, Leah and Sebastian’s head snapped to the angle and their eyes widened.
“Hailey!”
Hailey rushed to them and hugged them happily.
“I miss you,” she said.
“I miss you too” Leah and Sebastian chorused.
“How was your trip?” Leah asked after they broke the hug.
“It was fine but hectic, I need to shower” Hailey said.
“Have a shower and rest, okay? You must be so tired” Sebastian said.
Hailey smiled and pecked their cheeks respectively.
“How’s sales?” She asked.
“Fine” Leah answered.
“I’ll see you later, I need to sleep for a while,” Hailey said.
“Jaime will be so glad to find out his sister is back” Leah smiled when Hailey was gone.
Sebastian nodded in agreement.

CHARLES MANSION, AT NIGHT***
“How was your trip with your secretary?” Jace asked as he and Charles spoke over the phone.
“Fantastic” Charles smiled.
Jace raised his brow.
“Why do I sense something behind that word?” He asked
“Hailey is my girlfriend now,” Charles said.
“What?!!!” Jace shouted over the phone.
“Do you really have to shout that way?”
“This is so shocking to me. When? How? You don’t do your employees, Charles” Jace said.
“Hailey is exceptional,” Charles said.
“Are you sure this not all about Füçking her?”
“No. I love Hailey, very much”
“Whoa!!!”
“I don’t think I can take your scream again, let’s see tomorrow” Charles said and hung up.
He went to the bed and lay on it, he was about to call Hailey when a call came in on his phone. It was an unknown number.
“Who are you?” He asked after picking the call.
“It’s me Charles….. Stephanie”
