Verity and Janice went down on the floor too,where he was on his knees,crying.
“Calm down,Dexter. We won’t lose any of them. We’ll find a way out and fast,I don’t know how,but just trust me”Janice tried to make him calm,she held his shoulder softly,but Dexter shook her hand off it.
“Stop telling me to calm down,and asking me to trust you. I don’t trust anyone!
“Ann has been taken away from me,and I have no idea where she is.
The thought of not having a clue of where Annika is,and would probably not see her again,or might not even get to see his baby,enveloped his heart instantly.
The more he thought about it,the more he cried,and that began to affect his breathing. His breathing became incessant within minutes.
Robert who had been quiet all the while because of his guiltiness,suddenly ran to his son.
“Dexter,no! Not now please. Where is his inhaler?”Janice cried out.
Robert tried to touch him,but Verity stopped him halfway.
“I won’t forgive you,dad. If anything happens to my brother,his girlfriend or their unborn baby,I will never forgive you!!” Verity yelled,shaking her head vehemently as tears streamed down her cheeks.
“Mom…the inhaler isn’t working at all!” Verity cried out in distress.
^^UNKNOWN HIDEOUT>>NEXT DAY MORNING
“Wakie wakie,stupid” A feminine voice was heard as she walked in holding a bowl of water. She started pouring the water on sleeping Annika.
Last night when they brought her in,her legs and hands were tied up after she regained conciousness,because she was struggling so much to free herself from them.
Annika is so strong and stubborn that she almost escaped them. That’s why they tied her up.
“Boo Bear?” She faintly opened her eyes,calling. But she remembered what happened last,a tear dropped down her cheek.
She tried to stand up,but the ropes prevented her from doing so.
Her eyes suddenly drifted to the person in front of her,and she gasped.
“Wendy?” She called shockingly.
“Aww,you remember my name. Wonderful Wendy,how sweet.
“Yunno, I couldn’t get what I wanted to get from your stupid boyfriend,that’s why I abducted you. Cos it’ll be very easy to get it through you.
“And…” Wendy paused and chuckled derisively.
“I want to return what you gave me the other day” She said,and slapped Annika hard. She turned her other cheek and slapped it again,then she started laughing mockingly.
“How does it feel?” She squatted and asked Annika.
Annika didn’t reply,but spat in her eyes instead.
“Just wait till Dexter finds out that you are the one who abducted me” Annika said painfully in tears.
“That’s if he finds you alive” Wendy laughed satirically,and slapped her again.
“Let me go!…just let me go!!” Annika cried,struggling so much to free herself.
“She’s so noisy,boss. She just won’t keep quiet” One of her guys said,giving Annika a dead glare.
“Get me the syringe” She ordered,and the guy didn’t hesitate to do so.
Inside the syringe is a poisonous chemical,that Wendy has been injecting Annika.
That was what she injected her with,yesterday night,and she blacked out again.
That’s what Wendy wants,to kill her slowly.
Too much of that chemical in your body can kill you,or some parts of one’s body will be will be deformed.
Wendy smiled darkly,and started taking slow steps towards Annika.
She was about injecting the poison when…
“Isn’t that enough poison already?” Came Roland’s voice,and Annika gasped again.
He was coming in with Lira,Spencer and another of Wendy’s guys whom Anni bit yesterday.
“Roland…Spencer, Li..?” Annika couldn’t complete it. The tears in her eyes were trickling down more this time.
How can Roland or even Spencer do this to her? The Roland she once fell in love with? Gosh!
But why is he trying to stop Wendy from injecting her more?
“Are you feeling for her already?” Wendy scoffed.
“I am just saying,Wendy. If she dies before we get what we want,don’t you think it’ll be wasted efforts?” Roland said,and Annika couldn’t believe her ears.
“The CEO’S girlfriend” Lira chuckled and went closer to Annika.
“Here to return my slaps” She said and slapped Annika trice in the face.
“And a bonus” She laughed mockingly.
“Y’all will pay dearly, mark my words! Even if I die, Dexter will surely pay you all gruesomely.
“Your deaths will be awful, I assure you that!!” Annika spat,not scared of anyone at all.
“The syringe!” Wendy shouted. It was given to her,and she injected Annika without thinking twice
She blacked out instantly,as everywhere went silent.
^^MELROSE-WAKEFIELD HOSPITAL>>AFTERNOON
“Any good news about her whereabout yet?” Sana asked as she and Mina came in.
They both cried their eyes out when they got the news this morning that Annika has been abducted.
They couldn’t even go to work,and to make matters worse. Dexter is in the hospital.
His inhaler failed to work yesterday, and they had to rush him to the hospital.
Thankfully, the doctor said he’s alright, though he hasn’t woken up since yesterday.
Dalton and Derek too are here,feeling for their friend,and his girlfriend that is nowhere to be found.
Janice and Verity refused to leave Dexter’s side,and they are currently beside him on the sick bed.
“They called, asking for the big Company’s docvments,else Annika will die” Dalton said sadly.
“What?! Who the hell is behind this?” Mina growled angrily.
“Roland and Wendy” Derek replied.
“Oh my gosh! I can’t take this” Sana said,and started crying again.
“The cobs are trying to track their location with the number they called with ,but it seems they turned it off” Verity said,with a cracked voice.
She and her mom have been crying since yesterday till now,and their voices are croaked now.
While they were still talking about it,the Doctor (Mark) came to check on Dexter again.
He’s been in oxygen since last night, and hasn’t made any move.
“How is his condition, Doctor?” Janice asked, scared.
“He’s doing better than few hours ago” The Doctor smiled,checking the readings on the machine.
“But he hasn’t made any reflexes, are you sure he’s alright” Janice frowned.
“He is,ma’am. Y’all just try your best to keep him away from anything that will get him angry,and result to this.
“I was really scared we were going to lose him yesterday,please take caution” The Doctor said and left.
Immediately he left, Dexter woke up abruptly, like he was pushed out of the bed. He removed the oxygen from his mouth immediately.
“Where’s Ann? You still haven’t found my Ann?
“She’s carrying my baby,our baby. And you’re all here doing nothing about it?” Dexter said like an insane person.
He began to remove all the pipes connected to his body,and got out of the bed.
“Dexter!! Please stop it,stop causing more damage to your health. You’ve not fully recovered yet” Dalton begged,everyone did,but he ignored them all.
His mom was going crazy already, seeing how her son is acting like one who is running mad.
“Don’t let him go,please. Dexter please,listen to us. You’re killing me,Dexter. You’re killing your mother!!” Janice wailed, and started going after him.
Dalton and Derek tried to hold him, but he pushed them both away.
“I am going to find my babies myself, I don’t need your help! Stay away from me!
“Ann!!” He called, like he has seen her from afar coming.
Immediately he stepped out,he met Roland by the door.
“I know where Anni is” He immediately said,but was replied with a punch on the nose.
“Where’s Ann? Where are you hiding her?” Dexter thundered aloud.
“I am here to help you” Roland said,cleaning his bleeding nose.
“You abducted her,and now here to help me? You fool” Dexter growled, throwing another punch.
“Put yourself together and listen to me,idiot!
“Annika is in grave danger, and they’re slowly poisoning her,which she might die soon if you keep acting like a fool and don’t listen to me.
“I had to act like I’m on their side, when Wendy and Lira told me about Anni’s abduction last night.
“If it weren’t for me,she would have been dead by now,cos Wendy is showing her no mercy.
“I’ve been the one trying to stop her from injecting the poison into her body.
“You think I abducted her,and I’m still here to help you? How stupid do you think I am?
“Anni is dying slowly because of the poison” Roland explained and everywhere was completely silent.
“No,no,no!…my babies!!” Dexter slumped down.
