⟨ THE SNAKE BIT ⟩
“Die” Cheng said in six voices, his eyes shone red the more and the arrows flew to where Tatiana was.
The arrows were about piercing inside of Tatiana, but Waylon was quick to pull her out from the tree and the arrows hits the trunk and branches of the tree.
“Are you all right?” Waylon asked with his hands on her shoulders.
Tatiana ignored his question and looks at Cheng. His eyes has stopped shinning red and he was back to being a human, but he lost consciousness, falling to the ground.
“Cheng” Tatiana muffed his name trying to go to him, but Waylon held her hand.
“Don’t go anywhere near him” He said.
“But he lost consciousness, l have to see if he’s all right” Tatiana said worriedly, taking her hand from Waylon, but Waylon held her again.
“Is dangerous Tatiana, just come with me” Waylon said.
“But he’s unconscious”.
“You should worry more about yourself. If you go close to him, that might be the end of you” Waylon said.
Tatiana looks at the unconscious Cheng, wanting to check up on him, but Waylon took her hand and leaves the cottage with her.
Tatiana keeps looking at Cheng as she leaves with Waylon.

⟨ MAIN PALACE ≈ MEDICAL CENTER ⟩
“Ouch” Tatiana winces in pain as she was been treated by the palace doctor. She sustain a slight injury in her arm when her body hitted the tree’s trunk earlier at the cottage.
“Careful with the treatment” Waylon said.
“Sorry your highness” The palace doctor said and Tatiana looks at Waylon with open eyes, which meant surprised.
“Yes I’m the second prince. Sorry I didn’t tell you about my real identify” He said and Tatiana bowed to him.
“You don’t have to do that Tatiana” Waylon said and Tatiana only nods, her mind was just occupied with Cheng.
*Why didn’t he remember me? Why was he like a demon earlier? Since when did he have dark magic?* Was the questions Tatiana keep asking herself and she’s unaware that Waylon has been talking to her.
“Tatiana” He said tapping her.
“Huh” Tatiana muttered, waking up from her deep thought. The palace doctor already left and she was unaware of it.
“What were you thinking? I was asking question, but you just stared into space” Waylon said.
“Sorry about that, your highness. What were you asking me?” She asked.
“What were you doing there at the cottage?” Waylon asked.
“I was just following a bird. What about you?” She asked and Waylon looks at her.
⟨ FLASH BACK ⟩
“The maidens are here already?” Waylon asked the court maid and she nods her head.
“Alright then. I’ll just take a glimpse at them” Waylon said and went to the premises of the palace when he sees Tatiana running after something.
He couldn’t see what she was going after, but she kept smiling and going after it.
“She looks familiar. Wait is she not Tatiana? Why is she here in the palace? Did she come for the maid’s testing?” Waylon asked no one and decided to follow her.
“Why the heck will she come here?” Waylon asked looking around and that was when he sees Tatiana using her back to hit the tree’s trunk with great force.
And then he sees Cheng raising up arrows from the ground, ready to kill Tatiana with it. Waylon rushed to where Tatiana was and pulls her away before the arrows could hit her.

Tatiana looks at him and sighs.
“You should never go to that cottage ever again Tatiana”.
“Why not your highness?”
“Because people living in the main palace is forbidden from going there and the same applies to Cheng” Waylon said.
“But why? Why is Cheng living in that cottage that’s so far from the main palace and why was he that way early?” Tatiana asked.
“It’s Seems like you know Cheng?”
“Yes I do. We met when we were kids. But now he’s so different from the boy I used to know. What happened to him?” Tatiana asked curiously.
“It’s not something you should know. You came for the maid’s testing, right?”
And Tatiana only nods. She is just so concerned about Cheng. Even if he hurt her earlier, she was still worried about him. And she wished she can go back to the cottage to see if he’s still unconscious.
“Why do you want to work in the palace?” Waylon asked. Tatiana looks at him and decided not to tell him her main reason for coming to the palace.
“Because I want to serve the Royal family” She said faking a smile. But even it was fake, Waylon still smiled genuinely.
“Is she okay?” Queen Vanya asked entering with Narmada. Waylon has informed them about what Cheng did to Tatiana.
“Yes she’s fine. Thankfully she wasn’t hurt that much mother” Waylon said, while Tatiana bowed to Queen Vanya and she kind of mistook Narmada to be Queen Vanya’s personal maid, due to the way she was dressed.
Narmada quickly sits beside Tatiana, holding her hand.
“You must have been so scared, right?” She asked but Tatiana didn’t say a word.
“Cheng isn’t human, so you have to stay away from him, Cuz he won’t think twice of killing you. He’s very evil” Narmada said.
“Narmada!” Queen Vanya said.
“Is true mother. You and I know Cheng is possessed” Narmada said and Tatiana’s eyes widened.
“Po… Possessed?” She asked.
“Don’t let that bother you. Cheng is hardly talked about in the palace and since he’s in the faraway side of the palace, he won’t bother us” Queen Vanya said.
And Tatiana wished someone could tell her what was going on with Cheng. The Cheng she knew ten years ago was so meek, so why the heck are they saying he’s evil and should be avoided, Tatiana thought.
“I can tell you came for the maid’s testing since your face isn’t familiar”.
“Yes my queen” Tatiana manage to answers.
“The testing is already been held, you should joined the rest of the maidens” Queen Vanya said.
“That won’t be necessary mother. She sustain a slight injury in her arm and she won’t be able to participate in the maid’s testing” Waylon said.
“So what should we do?” Queen Vanya asked and Tatiana prayed so hard that they shouldn’t tell her to go home. She can’t leave the palace after what happened to Cheng.
“Since I’m in charge of selecting the maids for the palace, she should just skipped the testing and start working here as a maid” Waylon said and Tatiana’s heart danced in joy.
“I think that’s a great idea brother, that way we can use that in compensating what Cheng did to her” Narmada said.
“Thank you so much” Tatiana said smiling. Waylon looks at her beautiful smile and smiled as well, thinking that Tatiana is happy she will be working in the palace, but little did he know that Tatiana is only happy because she’s going to get the chance of going back to the cottage to see Cheng.
“So who will she be serving?” Queen Vanya asked.
“She will be working under me. She’s so beautiful and I like her already, so she’s mine” Narmada said.
*Working under her? Is she a princess* Tatiana thought.
