Light immediately come back to her senses and cover up the awkwardness with some jokes which didn’t do a really good job to defuse the situation.
“The lunch break is over already,we should go back to class”she said standing up hurriedly and Lucifer frowned.
“You,not me. And why are you rushing away,you didn’t even ask me who’s that you make me think of”he said then pull light, making her fall back.
“Sit and listen to me”he mumbled with a sigh “who’s that i made you remember?”she asked.
“The portrait at the museum, the princess in the second portrait…..julie”he said and light winced.
“He said julie and not Juliana,he remembered how he called her,this isn’t all good at all”light thought anxiously.
“Who’s this julie?”she asked with caution “my dead….mate”Lucifer winced painfully after saying this as if a dagger was used to pierce his heart.
“Are you ok?”she asked and he nod gently after some seconds.
“You kissed me the other day cause you thought i look like your dead mate?”she asked.
“No,i just did that to provoke you and make you shut up “he replied and she frowned for a second.
“Then,your demon,why didn’t he like protest about this”she asked “honestly,i don’t know what’s wrong with him,…..he even want to continue, that’s quiet strange “he replied.
“You,how many things did you remembered?”light sat facing him seriously.
“The truth?”he asked back”yh”she simply replied”all of my memories, including how i become who I’m “he replied immediately.
“What?! How?”she was shocked”i used the simplest method,i visited the old human world,i froze time and that’s why it seem like i remembered everything in just few days, it’s actually a month already “he replied.
“You freak, don’t you know freezing time can result in power exhaustion,and particularly your type of power is not strong enough to withstand it for a whole month”she snapped.
“I know and truly I’m weak now,and also…..you witch,you are making me open up to you too much when we are just strangers”his mood swing within a twinkle of an eye and this confused light.
“Lucy…..”her voice softened “please tell me,are you perhaps feeling any side effects?”she asked looking so worried.
“Why are you so worried about me,we are supposed to be enemies”he scoffed “that’s because i can’t watch you die,i missed you so much,how can i let you die”she knew she can’t say those words.
“Yh,we are supposed to be enemies,but won’t i be unworthy if i fought my opponent when he’s weak, even if i won,i will feel dejected and selfish”she said.
“The side effects is rather simple but yet dangerous for me,my body is a great vessel now that i haven’t fully unlocked the last chain of doom,like it’s called it’s bound to doom so the moment i unlocked it,i will become a real devil and probably all my humanities will be lost forever”he sighed.
“After i freeze time,i exhausted my energy vessel so now I’m weak and even though i can’t be compare to just any demon,my power level might be like my brothers now which is just average of my real powers”he smiled bitterly.
“I should just make sure i didn’t mistakenly or intentionally allowed my body to accept powers into me,it might be dangerous for me”he sighed.
He wanted to continue in his casual form but stopped when he glance at light and saw her weeping silently.
“Huh?”he’s shocked “hy, what’s wrong?”he asked immediately,he doesn’t understand why he felt so pained seeing her tears.
“Luci…fer”she sobbed and he frowned slightly, unable to comprehend exactly what’s going on.
He wanted to ask her why she’s crying again but stopped when she suddenly grab his shirt and start to unbutton it.
He didn’t try to stop her and he didn’t know why he allowed her to do that.
“You have the curse mark”she cried out, sobbing even more and Lucifer look down at his chest.
Truly, there’s a tree branches like mark slowly spreading from the mid of his chest to the part of his heart.
“It’s spreading so fast,you lost too much energy”she said theb hug him, shocking the already shocked guy even more.
“Lucifer,if this curse mark spread up to your neck, then the last chain of doom will be broken, and if it spread up to your face, then…then…you will become the devil himself,your appearance will change and if you try to fight it,………you might die”she tightened herself around him as she finish talking.
Lucifer felt his throat dried at once,he knew the chain of doom is not a good choice for him but he didn’t expect it to trigger a curse mark that will change him to the most cursed and h@tëd creature.
He doesn’t want this “please don’t allow any power into your energy vessel,it will trigger it too much,i……”she cut herself off.
“Why are you crying like we meant something to each other?”he asked his face emotionless.
“I definitely don’t want to be the devil,being his successor is troublesome and painful enough,the least is to die if something really trigger the curse mark further”he added.
“No!”she find her voice and yell immediately,right now she’s already a crying mess and this not only confused Lucifer but also make him wonder why he’s being affected by her cries.
“You can’t die,the mark will take years to reach your neck so as long as your body didn’t accept any power into your vessels,you are save, please don’t take any power”she begged.
“Light…..”he forced her to look at him”stop crying, dying isn’t at all bad,at least i won’t be who i don’t wish to be “he said.
“No…”he cut her off when she tried to talk “my brothers always want me dead,so i won’t be surprised if they attacked me when they find out I’m weak “he smiled.
“Don’t f*cking say that! I lost you to them once,i will never allow them to succeed for the second time!”she yelled angrily.
Now it’s Lucifer’s turn to be shocked and keep shut after she yelled at him, he’s not scared of her yelling but he was shocked by her second and last statement and he also felt his heart tightening.
