TWENTY FIVE
Rose got back to the tent to get ready for the party which will be held soon for the students when she found a box on her table.
She opened it to find a beautiful gown in it. She had been worried about the clothe to wear since she didn’t bring any formal clothe with her.
Who could have put it there? She thought as she remembered something. The only person she had told about her dilemma had been Louis. Did he get it for her?”She thought.
Ever since their one on one trekking earlier. He has been acting strange. He hardly left her side all morning. Accompanying her to wherever she went to and each time he wasn’t around her. She knew he was watching her.
What is he thinking and why the sudden interest in her? She thought as she changed into the gown.
It fitted her perfectly. How on earth did he even know her size? She thought only to remember the time he had taken her out to buy her clothes for Peter party.
Well he has buy the gown for her and so she had to shine in it even though he wouldn’t notice that all of it is for him.
“Have you told her?”Peter asked Louis as they stood watching everyone party
“I plan to do that tonight. Where is she?”He askes as he looked for her amongst the crowd.
“Over there”Peter said adding a gentle whistle behind his word.
Louis followed his gaze to see Rose walking into the crowd. He knew the gown he picked would be a perfect fit . He thought as he saw a lot of head turning towards Rose entrance.
He saw Martin walk up to her and took her to the dance floor for a dance.
“You will be having a lot of Rival tonight”Peter said playfully.
“As long as no one catches her attention then am fine with it”He said as he watched her dance with Martin.
Rose was dancing with a student from the neighbouring school when Louis finally walk up to them.
While she danced with her partners, she has been looking for Louis amongst the crowd, wondering if he would also want to dance with her and now that he is here. She is suddenly feeling shy. She thought as she stared at him.
“I think it’s my turn now”Louis said and as soon as the student let go of her. He pulled her into his arms.
“You look lovely”He said softly.
“It’s all your doing”She replied trying to act cool with him. Being in his arms might mean a lot to her but it didn’t mean anything to him and so she had to keep her cool. She mustn’t let him see how vulnerable her love is.
“Are you saying you don’t like it?”He asked.
“Of course I do like it. It must have cost a fortune”She said and he nodded.
“It did but as long as it’s you. I don’t care how much I spend”He said making her heart thump crazily.
He pulled her close. To other people it might look like they were dancing but she knew their closeness was too intimate and she had to put an end to it. If he keeps on acting this way then it will be impossible for her to move on from him.
“What’s wrong?”He asked as she pulled away from him
“I…I need to use the rest room”She lied and not giving him the chance to reply. She dashed off.
She got to the rest room and walk past it without even entering. The rest room was an excuse in the first place. She thought as she walked on the soft grass. Heading to no where in particular.
She was still walking when she heard someone voice and it seemed like he was crying.
She trailed the sound and saw Yu si Feng crouched on the floor. Crying softly.
Immediately she went to him and crouched in front of him. “Are you okay?”
He looked up to see her and pulled her tight into a fierce hug.
“She died, Pretty. My dearest just passed away”He said crying in her arms.
She stood in his arms. Trying to comfort him and although it took a while. He finally stopped his tears.
“She must have mean a lot to you?”Rose asked.
“She was the only sibling I had back home. I will forever miss her”He said
“Try to think that she is in a better place “Rose said again.
“I will and by the way my dearest isn’t human”He said suddenly.
“What do you mean?”
“What I mean is that my dearest is a dog”He said smiling. It took a while for Rose to grasp what he said.
Knowing that she had been fooled into thinking his dearest is a human. She began laughing with him until Louis approached them.
“I told you to stay away from her!”He yelled as he hit Yu si Feng making Rose gasp out loud.
“Whats wrong with you Louis!”She yelled at him. Immediately he took her hand and began to pull her away leaving Yu si Feng on the grassy floor.
“Let go of me! Your hurting me Louis! Let go”She said as she managed to pull her hand out of his.
“Just what is wrong with you?”She yelled at him.
“I should be asking you that? What the hell is wrong with you? Why do you flirt with him all the time!”He yelled at her and she stared at him, mouth wide open.
“You said you were going to the rest room and like a fool I waited for you but you didn’t show up and I came looking only to see you in his arms. What is it you see in him? Just what do you see in him to make you act like a……”he couldn’t get to complete his word because she slapped him.
“You’ve said enough! Who the hell do you think you are to insult me. You told me to get rid of my feelings for you and am doing that and if Yu si Feng likes me then you should be glad cause you will be getting me out of your way! “she yelled at him.
“Rose I…..”
“Just leave me alone! Right now I don’t want to see you”She said as she turned to leave.
“I don’t want you out of my way!”He yelled suddenly which made her stop.
“Can’t you see it Rose?”He said softly this time and she turned to look at him.
“I don’t want you getting rid of the feeling you have for me but instead I want you to keep on feeling that way because I feel the same way too” he said as he moved towards her.
Rose who had gone quiet after hearing his confession moved away as he walked towards her.
“You don’t mean that right? You are just saying that to mess with my head” Rose asked.
“I mean it Rose. I love you. I love you and if it’s not too late. I want us to be together.”He said.
She has been waiting to hear those words from him. Hoping with all her heart that someday she would get to hear him say those words and now that she gets to hear him say it. It doesn’t feel right.
“Rose I…..”
“Stay away!”She said as she moved away from him again.
“I love you Rose and if it’s not too late I hope we…..”
“You really are cruel! You told me to get rid of my feelings and though it was hard for me. I started thinking of a life without you in it. It was the most devastating days of all, for me. But I tried and now that am finally getting you out of my heart. You want me to let you in again ? “she asked starring at him.
“I was cruel and selfish. I didn’t think of your feelings then but I do now. I love you Rose”He said
“It’s too late Louis! I have move on “She lied but he walked towards her and held both her hands.
“You can’t move on from me. I love you and I know you also feel the same. So please Rose don’t push me away”He said.
She pulled her hand out of his “Its too late Louis” she said as she walked away from him. Leaving him to watch her leave.
