“That’s a bit better”Fernando said to Rose who still thinks that the cake look a bit flat.
“Don’t you think we should do more. Its a bit small”Rose said.
“It’s perfect like this”Fernando insisted.
“I don’t think so. Let’s just ……ouch!”She yelled as she mistakenly touch a hot baking pan.
“Are you okay?” Louis asked stealing that question from Fernando.
“It stings”Rose replied and immediately he pulled her towards a running tap to put the burnt place in the cold water.
“You shouldn’t have bothered”He said starring at Rose who was now crying softly.
“Why are you crying?”He asked.
“Its because am feeling bad”She said as she kept crying.
Louis pulled her close while the water still run over her hand.
“I forgot that it’s your birthday and tried to make it up to you only to make a mess of things. Am sorry”She said as she cried into his clothe.
“I already told you that it’s okay. Am more than happy that you are here with me” Louis said softly.
“Really?”She asked now starring at him.
“Of course. And besides you’ve made up for not remembering my birthday”He said starring at the cake.
“That’s not making it up to you. It’s a total mess”She said.
“But to me. It isn’t. It shows your effort to make it up to me and am very glad”He said as he kissed her on the lips.
“Let’s put some ointment on your hand and then I will take a piece of the cake you bake and then we will leave for the mall”He said.
“Why are we going to the mall?”She asked.
“Why do people go to the mall?”He asked as they both left the kitchen.

“You shouldn’t have bought me all this stuff. I should have been the one buying a gift for you”Rose said as they both walked the few distance to her house while he carried a bag which had ladies things in it.
“I didn’t buy it for you”Louis replied.
“Then who is it for?”Rose asked.
“For your mother. Bella told me the things she likes but I hope she will like what I bought”Louis said looking doubtful and Rose smiled as she kissed him on the cheek.
“Do you know how lovable you are right now? Thanks for thinking about my mom”Rose said.
“She has to accept me. Afterall she is someone you love. I want to be loved by someone you love too”He said earning a smile from her.
“You really are lovable”Rose said as she kissed him on the lips.
“I also got something for you”He said bringing out a box which had a Rose pendant and on it their name was scribbled there.
“It’s beautiful Louis”Rose gasp out as she stared at him.
“It’s a kind of reminder of me. Always take it everywhere with you”Louis said as he put it on for her.
“I sure will”Rose replied happily before he kissed her.
“Let go of her!”On hearing her mother voice. They both pulled away from each other and Rose watched her mother move close to Louis to slap him on the face.
“Mother!”Rose yelled as she move towards Louis.
“Stay away from him Rose. He is nothing but a monster”Her mom said pulling Rose away from Louis.
“Louis is not a monster mom. Just stop it!”Rose said trying to break free but her mother hold was strong and the look of anger she sent Louis made Rose stop what she was going to say.
“I won’t say this again. Stay away from Rose. You are nothing but a monster “Her mother said as she pulled Rose into the house leaving Louis standing there.
“What has gotten into you mom? Louis is my boyfriend and I demand you treat him with….”Rose couldn’t complete her words because her mother hit her too.
“You know right! You know that that kid is not human?”Her mom yelled at her.
“You know that he is a vampire!”Her mother added when Rose failed to speak.
“How do you know that Louis is a vampire?” Rose asked.
“Wh@tëver relationship you have with that kid should be stopped. If you want to see him alive. You have to stay away”Her mother said to her.
“Why mom? Explain better so I can understand”Rose told her.
“It all began years ago. Humans and vampire lived together until the vampire began to feed on humans and just so that would stop. The higher up picked some people to be the vampire slayers. Your father was among those slayers”
“Your father killed the vampire who had been assigned to him to kill but one of them escaped and it’s that kid father”Her mother said talking about Louis father.
“Just to finish his job. Your father tracked him down and suceedded in killing him but we had no idea back then that he fathered a child. A child who is definitely a vampire” Her mother said.
“So. How is all this a threat to Louis?”Rose asked looking nervous.
“Your father is still out there searching for any vampire left. If he should know that Louis is one. He won’t hesitate in killing Louis. Do you want that for him?” Her mother asked and she shaked her head negatively.
“I don’t want that “Rose said as the tears began to fall gently.
“Then stay away from him. Your father is coming back soon. He called a few days ago to tell me that. If he so much as know that Louis is an offspring of a vampire. He would kill him” Her mother said and Rose nodded.
“Staying away from Louis is the only way to help him. If you keep him around you then he is bound to die cause your father will kill him without mercy”Her mother said as she pulled Rose into a hug.
