Chapter Six & Seven
Still taking hold of her hand. Martin pulled her until they got to the private room used by the three of them.
Rose was surprised to see Peter there. Seems like he was waiting for her too.
“Take a seat”Martin suggested as he sat on the sofa.
“You don’t have to be scared. We just want to talk to you. Feel free to sit”Peter said calming Rose nerves a bit. She did as he said and waited for them to begin.
“What exactly do you have on Louis?”Martin asked.
“Pardon?”
“You definitely have something on him to have you lingering around him ” Martin added again.
Rose suddenly felt uncomfortable. Had they brought her here just to question her.
“What Martin is trying to say is that we are worried about Louis. He is not someone to have people linger around him. But suddenly here you are. We are kind of thinking you have something to use as leverage against him? Are we correct in assuming that?”Peter modified.
Well she thought she had something to use against him but it turns out that he is the one with the upper hand. Rose thought as she thought of what to tell them.
“She doesn’t have something against me. Instead am the one using her”Louis said as he walked into the room.
“You said you were heading home early?”Martin questioned surprised at seeing him.
“Changed my mind and that’s only because I suspected you two were plotting something and my guess is right”Louis said starring at Rose.
“We had to. You wouldn’t tell us a thing”Peter stated.
“What exactly is your relationship with her?”Martin asked.
“Let’s say a boss and employee relationship”Louis replied smoothly and Rose gave him a glare.
“Really?”Martin asked and Louis nodded.
“Where you get to be her boss and her your employee?”Peter chipped in
“Yes and now that have given you my answer. My employee and I, have something to discuss”he said taking Rose hand and pulling her out of the room.
“Do you believe it?”Martin asked Peter.
“I don’t and you?”
“I don’t either. There is something off about it”Martin added as they watched them leave.
“You shouldn’t have followed him”Louis said as they both stood on the rooftop.
“He didn’t give me a chance to refuse. He just pulled me”Rose replied hotly.
“They were never like this. Why are they suddenly being meddle some?”Louis stated as he stared downstairs.
“They care”Rose said suddenly and he turned to stare at her.
“They care about you and they are worried that is why they are being meddlesome”She added again.
“What do you know?”He muttered softly.
“I don’t know the relationship you have with each other but I do know that they are true friends because they care “She said wistfully and that earned her a look from him.
“What do you know”He muttered and added quickly “Where is the phone?”
“Why do you ask?”She said looking a bit guilty.
“I called and sent you a lot of text but none of it was replied. What did you do with it?”He asked.
“Nothing! I decided to leave it home and that’s only because you call often and send text often. Am not your slave”She said fiercely.
“So? Would you like me to stop being your protector cause if that’s what you want. I can just…..”
“Don’t! Just tell me what you want”She asked beaten.
“My usual coffee. Bring it to our private room and make sure it’s still hot”He added enjoying himself.
“Yes boss”She said haughtily and walked off stamping her feet angrily while Louis stood watching her leave. Totally enjoying himself.
Rose returned with his coffee and found him chatting in the room with Peter and Martin.
“Is it hot?”Louis asked as she stretched it to him
“Why don’t you try it out?”She retorted and he took it from her.
“I understand that you two have a boss and employee relationship but you shouldn’t be selfish as to only serve Louis alone. Peter and I could have done with a hot acoffee too” Martin said jokingly.
“Why should I? As you said Louis is my boss and only if he tells me to do it. I will”Rose returned not caring if she was being rude.
“Wow! You really have a devoted employee”Martin said
“Isn’t she very loyal?”Louis asked as he sipped his coffee.
“Don’t worry as long as she is my employee. She would serve you two. Isn’t that right?”Louis added as he stared at Rose waiting for a reply.
Rose squeezed her hand in anger and was about to reply when Peter interrupted.
“Employee too have their right. Once their boss becomes over bearing and a bully they quit or instead they sue them”Peter said defending Rose.
Rose melted immediately. Having someone defend her is a good thing. She thought smiling at him.
“Are you trying to show that your father is a lawyer?”Louis asked.
“No. Am just trying to remind you two that an employee have their right” Peter said giving his full smile to Rose who melted even harder.
Louis watched the two silently. Assessing their behaviour.
“Your quiet Rose. Wont you say something?”Louis asked and she turned a frown his way.
She was beaming at Peter just now and frowning at him. Does she like him? He thought as he waited for her reply
“All I can say is that am grateful to have someone defending me. Thanks Peter”She said sending a smile his way again.

“Tell me? You have feelings for Peter?” Louis asked they all walked towards the parking lot while the students mile around them. Wanting to claim their attention as usual.
“Carrying your bag for you is becoming a habit”Rose replied not wanting to answer his question.
“Are you avoiding my question?”Louis asked.
“What question is that exactly?”She asked as she carried his bag properly.
“That you like Peter. You like him right?”Louis persisted.
“Mind your business”She returned. Glad that they had gotten to the parking lot.
“You are. Just a piece of advice from me. Peter is someone who isn’t interested in girls and he wouldn’t look your way”Louis stated.
“Why?”she asked as he got into the opened car.
“Its simple. Your the school loser. He wouldn’t want to associate himself with you”Louis said and some how it stung to hear him call her a loser and to think that Peter thought the same thing too.
Angrily she threw his bag at him “Thanks for your advice”She said and began to walk off.
She was heading to the bus station thinking about what Louis said when a car stopped beside her.
She was surprised to see Peter waving at her and inviting her In. He was causing a traffic jam and not wanting to delay them further. She got into his car. Feeling shy and cautious.
“Where is your address?”He asked and as soon as she told him where it is. He navigated his car in the direction.
“Take it easy. I won’t bite”He said when he noticed the way she was Clutching her hand.
“You must have given me a lift because you wanted to ask something right?”She asked and he nodded.
“You are fast in catching up on things”He replied with a smile.
“If it’s about Louis. Then I suggest you ask him yourself”Rose said quickly a bit disappointed that he had only gave her a ride to question her.
“You won’t tell me even though am defending you against him?”He asked jokingly and she shaked her head.
“I can’t do that but what I can tell you is that you should put your trust in him. He is not doing something shady. I can assure you of that. You should wait until he wants to talk about it. That’s the only thing you can do for him now” Rose suggested and he thought about it for a while before giving a reply.
“Your right. Its best to let him tell us himself”Peter agreed as he stopped the car in front of a building.
“A restaurant? Do you live here?” He asked starring at her mother restaurant
“Yes. I mean no. Our house is upstairs while my mom operates the restaurant downstairs”She replied nervously while she tried to get rid of the seat belt which had suddenly decided not to budge.
“Its a bit stuck”She said looking so nervous.
She was still trying to remove it when he moved towards her to open it. Rose felt her heart thumping hard and shrank back while he helped her unlock it.
He moved a bit and their face was very close to each other. If they had been a couple. Their position would have been perfect for kissing.
“Your eyes”he muttered softly.
“My….my eyes?”She asked as she felt her cheeks going red.
“Looks very pretty up close”he replied as he moved away from her.
Quickly she got out of the car and thanked him. Rushing into the little restaurant. Tossing a greeting at her mom. She ran up stairs heading to her room.
Her heart was beating fast and it wasn’t because of her running but because of Peter. Is this how people fall in love? She thought as she danced around the room before falling on her bed.
She was still deep in thought when the door opened and Bella sauntered in.
“I told you to knock before entering my room”Rose said throwing a pillow at her.
“You do that often with my room. So why are you getting angry and besides I found this in your wardrobe. Its expensive and knowing how frugal you are. You could never have buy it. So it was given to you and I want to know who it is”Bella said showing Rose the phone Louis had given her.
She knew something like this will happen and that’s why she has been hiding the phone but Bella being nosy would certainly find out.
Quickly she went to take the phone from Bella.
“Its none of your business”Rose said quickly.
“I wonder how mom will react once she gets to know that……”
“Shut up! I will tell you “Rose replied as she used her hand to cover Bella mouth.
Rose moved away from Bella wondering how to begin the story when she saw a picture on the phone.
” I know this girl”She said as she stared at the picture.
“I was wondering who she was because he has a lot of her picture on his phone”Bella replied as they stared at Louis phone.
“That’s odd. She is someone I wouldn’t expect him to talk to. Why on earth does he have her picture on his phone?”Rose wondered aloud.
