CHAPTER SEVEN
“She might be his crush?”Bella suggested.
“I don’t think so”Rose replied doubtfully.
“Just tell me who gave you the phone already. Am dying to know”Bella asked and Rose cooked up a lie for her.
“So your saying Louis Finnegan gave you his phone just as a thank you gift?”Bella asked still not sure of the story.
“Yes he did. I just hope you will keep shut about it. I don’t want mom making a fuss”Rose requested and she nodded in reply.
“Who is the girl on his phone? Does she attend your school too?”Bella asked as they scrolled through his picture album.
“Yes. Actually I don’t know her that well because we aren’t in the same class but I do know that she is called Lilian Kane. A daughter of a business man and she is also mute”Rose said.
“Really? Does he like a mute?”Bella asked incredulously.
“Let’s not jump into conclusion”Rose advised as she switched off the phone.
“But her pictures on his phone is enough to show that he likes her. How can someone of his standards fall for a mute?”Bella asked and somehow that made her remember Louis words about Peter not being interested in her because she is the school loser.
“Why can’t he? If he wants to fall for anyone then he is free to do so. You have no right to judge anyone”Rose said getting riled up.
“I get it. You don’t have to get mad”Bella said softly.
“Wh@tëver. Leave!”Rose said as she gently pushed Bella out of her room.
She went back to her bed to think about Louis and Lilian. How dare he judge her when he also likes a mute. She shouldn’t think that way.
Though Lilian is a student. She had never join hands with the other students to bully her.
THE NEXT DAY
Louis stood at the roof top waiting for Rose to show up with his coffee. She must be running by now. He had timed her and had also threatened to make her pay If she didn’t make it on time.
He knew she was going to complain and make a face at him but he didn’t care. The thought of her giving him a murderous look discreetly made him smile.
He heard someone footsteps and knew it was her coming. He turned to see her standing there with his coffee breathing deeply.
“Your….your cof…coffee”She said breathlessly as she gave him his coffee.
“You made it on time. Were you that scared that I would tell Peter about your feelings for him?”Louis asked as he sipped the coffee.
“That’s unfair. Using my liking Peter as a threat to get me to bring your coffee to you early”She yelled at him.
“Then you shouldnt have made it obvious that you like him”Louis returned enjoying the spar between them.
“You really are impossible. I wish I can hit you in return but I better not”She said as she turned to stare at the ground floor.
“Your learning well”he replied as he hid back a grin.
“Its true that I like Peter and as you have said, he wouldn’t notice a loser like me but there might just be hope for me” she began softly.
“Hope?”Louis found himself asking though he didn’t want to meddle.
“Yes. My mom always tell me that when someone has hope,then things will be possible. So I will keep on hoping that someday Peter will notice me and like me back someday”She said wistfully.
“You sure do hope big”Louis returned
“Of course I do and…..have got an idea”She said excitedly as she turned towards him.
“Idea about what?”
“You do like Lilian Kane right?”She asked suddenly catching him off guard.
“Why do you ask?” He asked in return.
“Well you have her pictures on your phone and…. ”
“Were you going through the things on the phone? I thought I told you not to”He said feeling a bit annoyed. He should have erased the things in it before giving it to her.
“Well I was not prying but my sister got a hold of the phone and I…..”
“Your sister also saw it?”He asked and she nodded.
“I should never have given it to you”he said getting more annoyed.
“I didn’t mean to pry but anyway I know for a fact that you like Lilian and I can tell that you haven’t made a move to tell her about it. Why don’t we just……”
“Shut up! I have no interest whatsoever in doing anything with you. Infact am calling it quits from here”he said suddenly.
“What?”
“You had no right to go through that phone. You had no right to know who I like. You are just a nobody. A nobody I decided to help”he yelled at her looking very angry.
“You are being very mean” Rose said feeling angry and hurt.
“Then you shouldn’t have messed with me. Just because I ask you to do things doesnt mean we are close. Just because you know my secret doesn’t mean you and I are friends.To me you are nothing but a poor…..”he didn’t get to finish his words because she slapped him.
“Who asked you to? Who asked you to help me. Did I ever ask you for the phone? Just because it was too much of a burden. I left it home but my sister went through it and I happen to see the pictures too by mistake. Your right in saying that am a nobody but you are a jerk for saying it right to my face”She said as she turned to leave but he held her back.
“Where is the phone?”He asked.
“At home. Don’t worry I will give you back your phone tomorrow”she said jerking her hand out of his.
Louis stood watching her leave and sighed out. He knew he had gone far but he h@tëd knowing she had gone through the phone. He h@tëd knowing that she knew his secrets. He h@tëd it.
Rose got back home only to find the restaurant busy. while she helped her mom with the little customers they had she heard some of the customers talking about the moon being a full one.
She didn’t pay more attention to it but she was sure they said it was going to be a full moon tonight.
She went upstairs while her sister helped their mom. While working on her homework she took Louis phone and out of anger went towards the window to throw it away but she stopped herself.
He didn’t want her going through the phone and she never did. Well she would do the opposite this time. She thought as she went through his chat,his message, his call history and lastly his diary.
While reading it something there caught her attention and immediately she stood up dialling his number. Hoping he would pick the call.
