CHAPTER 20&21: WHO’S FAULT?

” Which is?” He asked. ” I am ready to do anything as far as it makes you happy.”
” Let the rogues go back home, and I promise you with my life, I will be your loyal queen, I will stand by your side and I will serve you with all my heart until my last breath. ”
” Consider it done, my love. ” He accepted without a second thought.
Soon after, he ordered the release of the remaining rogues back home.

AT THE ROGUE CAMP***

” They are back!!!” Someone announced and everyone marched out to see the survivals walking hopelessly to the camp.
” Open the gate.” Victoria said with happiness.
But some thing wasn’t right.
Kaleb of all people will never let a prisoner go, why the sudden change of attitude??
Or… Was this a trick?
” Close the gate!!” She ordered, and the gate was shut before the rogues could get close. ” We don’t know if this is a trick. I don’t believe that @$$hOle can let his prisoners go. Examine them, and if there is nothing suspicious with them, then you let them all in.”
She walked back into her office. ” We should be happy those rogues are back. You really do think Kaleb had tricked us?” Miss Meyers asked.
” I just don’t trust his simplicity. Wh@tëver reason he’s got for saving them, I don’t think it’s something to rejoice in.” She sat on her favourite chair.
The door opened soon after. ” You need to hear this.” One of the authorities said as he barged in.
” What is it?” Mrs Victoria asked, curious.
He ushered the rogue in. ” Tell them what you told me.” He ordered him to go ahead.
” W… we weren’t freed because of prince Kaleb. It was the idea of Lady Theodora.” She said.
The both ladies’s eyes flew open. ” Lady Theodora? How is that possible?” Mrs Victoria questioned.
” Prince Kaleb requested for her hand in marriage, and they will be wedded on the same day of their coronation. So, in order to be his queen, Theodora gave him a condition. We are her condition.”
Victoria nodded. ” Thank you for the… information. You can go now.”
She left.
” What was she thinking?” Miss Meyers grunted.
” Since she gave a condition like this, I think she knows what she is doing. We just have to believe in her.”
” That is a risky choice she made. If eventually Kaleb finds out her real motive, he’s gonna have her dead for sure.”
” I know.”
” Then we should do something about it, or she dies, especially now she hasn’t realize what she is.”
” We don’t have to do anything, we just have to sit and watch. She has chosen her fate, we should let her live with it.”
Miss Meyers sighed, worriedly.

BACK AT THE FORTRESS***

Kaleb made her sit opposite him. For the first time since she started serving him, this was the very first time he was asking her to have a sit.
” Since you have accepted to my proposal, I was suggesting that we should make out tonight on my bed.”
Her hand soaked wet instantly. ” But sire…”
He interrupts her. ” First, I think we should drop the odds. We will be mated by next week, rather we should call each other sweet names.”
Theodora forced herself to smile. ” I am not good at sweet names.”
” Don’t worry, you will get use to it soon.” He smiled back. ” So, what do you say about us… on my bed?”
She scratched the back of her neck, ” I don’t want to look disobedient to your highness but, I’ve learned and I have seen many times that such period is meant when the new couples are legally joined together.”
” I know. I’m just so curious to have you on my bed. But, since you said so, I will wait until you are ready.”
” I have some thing to say to you.” She said after a brief silence.
” Go on, I’m listening.”
” It’s concerning the…” Before she could say the next word, there came a knock on the door.
” Who dares to interrupt my moment!” He yelled.
” Forgive me sire, but your visitors awaits you at the meeting chamber. What should I tell them?”
” Let them wait. ”
” And if they can’t wait any longer, what should I tell them?” He asked again.
” They are free to leave.”
” Your high… My Lord,” she corrected, he looks at her. ” You should go meet them, we’ll have this discussion some other time.” She gave him an assuring smile. ” Not every one are good at patience.”
He sighed thoughtfully. ” Since you said so, I’ll go.”
She smiled wider.
The way he played loyal towards her, she wondered if actually this was the same Kaleb who had murdered her home.
He got to the door, then stopped, turning to her. ” I’ll order the maid to get you cleaned up. You don’t have to put on those anymore.” He said, referring to the maiden dress she was putting on.
” Thank you, My Lord.” She thanked, with her head slightly bowed.
He smirked.
