He stopped pacing, looking at her. ” Seriously? What am I supposed to say?”
“That you are jealous, Ray. You think I have something to do with my guardian angel.”
” Oh please, stop calling him that. I should be your guardian angel and not some kinda stranger, okay? I’m the one who is meant to protect you, so if you’re gonna call anyone your guardian angel then, it’s me.” He points at himself.
Theodora laughed. ” You’re being funny, Ray. My guard… Okay, fine, my friend. . . I can’t explain but, he’s not a human. He is a ghost, Ray. Like. . . like… like a conscience.”
” Hold on, you are trying to tell me that your guardian… your friend, ” he corrected himself. ” your friend is a conscience?”
“Yes, that’s exactly what I am trying to tell you. I mean, I told you earlier, didn’t I, but you were being rational over him being a he. So, there is no way we can have anything stupid to do with each other.”
Raymond took a deep breath. It was like a burden has been lifted up his chest.
” Okay. Now, I get your point. He’s just a conscience. I. . . I thought he was a human being. I mean, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to think too far. I was just. . . just scared someone was taking you away from me.”
Theodora touched his cheek. ” I will never cheat on you, Ray, never. I love you more than anything or anyone, okay?”
He nods. ” Okay.”
She kissed him, passionately. “I wanna tell you something.” She says in between the kiss.
“Mm-hmm. I’m listening.”
“I uhm. . . I am. . .”
“You’re pregnant.” He completed.
“How do you know that’s what I’m about to say?” She inquired.
“I’ve been hearing double heartbeats since you arrived. I just wanted you to tell me yourself.”
” Guess I’ve underestimated you.”
He chuckled. ” You didn’t. You were just trying to make it a surprise, right?”
” Yeah. Guess, I was about to do that. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out.”
” Maybe next time, you can work on your surprising wh@tëver.”
” Don’t be such a d_1ck, Ray.” She smiled. “I love you, babe.”
” I love you too, sweetheart.” She buried another kiss on his lips, deeper and hotter.
Theodora was getting changed when a knock came on the door. It wouldn’t be Raymond as he just left few minutes ago.
“Who’s that?” She asked.
“It’s me, Holland.”
“Oh, Holland. Please, come in.” She ushered her in. ” How are you Holland?” She asked with so much excitement.
” I’m doing good. You? “She asked back.
” Same here. I’m so sorry I didn’t come to check on you.”
” Don’t worry, your husband first. I totally understand.”
” You do?” She asked.
” Of course, I do. It’s always husband first.”
” Thank you.” She smiled.
” So, how was your training? Hope it went good?” She asked, sitting on the single couch.
” Yeah, it did. I really enjoyed the city, the weather and the school too. I almost felt like a kid back there.”
” Hmmm. They had you stay with little kids?” She made a surprising face.
” No, why would they do that? It’s a campus for adults only. Maybe, that’s because I saw only adults.”
” Well, that’s more better. I thought you were sharing classes with kids, you know, that sounds weird and. . . disgracing.”
” I wouldn’t even agree to share classes with kids if there were actually kids there. And you are absolutely right, Holland, it sounds weird and disgraceful.”
She finally found a dress to put on. ” Found you. ” She picked the yellow shirt and a skirt, pulling it on her body within minutes.
“Eaten yet?” Holland asked
“Not hungry. I’ll wait till dinner.” She packed her hair to the left. ” Can we go out for a walk? I’m getting bored already.”
“I love that. Come on, let’s get going, shall we?” She takes hold of Theodora’s hand, dragging her out of the room.
After they had had enough time with each other, they sat on their favorite part of the garden.
“I have a surprise to tell you, Holland. But first, guess what?”
“Come on, Dora, I’m not good at guessing.”
” Just try. “She stressed the words.
” Okay.” She thought for a while. ” You made new friends?” She asked.
“Yes, but that’s not the main thing.”
“You didn’t attend your training classes?” She guessed again.
” No!! ”
” Seriously? I’m done guessing. Just spit it already.”
Theodora sighed, smiling. “I am pregnant. ”
” WHAT??!! “Holland screamed. ” Tell me you aren’t kidding me. ”
” How can I joke over matters like this. I’m days pregnant. ” She repeated.
” I am so happy for you, Dora. I can’t wait to be a godmother. Will I be the godmother to your child? ”
” Am I supposed to answer that? You are definitely the godmother to my child.”
