Chapter 31
Erik nodded.
Kiara stared at him inquisitively.
“Well,I guess I’ll be leaving alone then”Nathan said. “Bye everyone,it was a pleasure meeting you”He said.
“You too sir”Emily and Daphne said while the rest smiled.
Nathan gave a nod before leaving.
“Where are we going?”Kiara asked Erik quietly.
“It’s a secret”He said.
Ken checked the time on his wrist watch.
“We should also leave”He said and stood.
“Okay”Erik stood also and the rest did the same.
They all came out of the lounge and entered the hallway.
Ken and Emily took the lead while the rest walked behind them. Erik and Kiara walked side by side.
Erik looked back when he suddenly felt someone tap his shoulder from behind. Daphne waved at him with a grin.
He arched a brow.
Kiara, unaware, kept walking while Daphne began walking beside Erik.
“Check this out”Daphne said to Erik before raising her phone to show him the picture she took of him and Kiara.
Erik stared at the picture,a smile escaping his lips.
“Listen,I know Kiara is pretty but the way you were looking at her shows something else other than just admiring her beauty”Daphne said.
Erik looked at her.
“Do you like my best friend?”She asked.
He kept mute, looking at her with a stunned look, surprised at how she threw the question at him and also wondering whether to give her a response or not.
“I already know the answer even if you don’t tell me and yes, I’ll send you the pic and save you the trouble of having to plead with me to send it to you”She said and gave a smile before going to meet up with Kiara who was now with Ken and Emily.
Erik chuckled as he watched them. The birthday party was still a surprise to him but what was even more surprising was having these people come together to plan such an event for him and the few hours they spent in the lounge…Also the way they related,it made him really happy. Having friends again wasn’t something he ever thought he’d have.
His eyes finally settled on Kiara,the one who’s undeniably the reason for the happiness he was feeling presently.
They found themselves outside the karaoke house in less than two minutes.
Ken and Emily left after bading the rest good bye and wishing Erik a happy birthday once more.
“Kiara and I will leave also” Daphne said to Erik.
Erik looked at Kiara and she did too before facing Daphne.
“What?”Daphne asked, seeing how the both looked at each other.
“Um… Mr Erik and I are actually…”Kiara paused when Daphne sighed.
“Fine, I’ll leave alone” Daphne said. “Bye”She said and hugged Kiara
“If anything happens to her, you’re a goner” She said to Erik.
“I’ll make sure to take care of her”He said.
“Good”She said and smiled at Kiara before leaving.
Kiara chuckled and turned to face Erik.
“So,where are we going?”She asked.
“Get in and I’ll show you”He smiled, gesturing at his car.
“Are…We taking a stop here or…”Kiara asked as she and Erik stepped into the garden.
“No, this is the place I wanted us to come”He said “You asked if I had a favorite place so…”
“This…Is your favorite place?”She laughed lightly.
“It became my favorite place after you showed me. I’ve been coming her a lot during my leisure time and I’ve also been spending my weekends here” He said.
Kiara smiled.
“I already planned that I would bring you here so we could celebrate my birthday together,I had no idea you already had such an event planned out”
“It would be no fun if it was just the two of us celebrating your birthday”She said.
“Fun or no fun,as long as I get to spend time with you”He said.
She looked at him and later looked away. She’s actually come to enjoy spending time with him.
They sat on the ground at the lawn covered part of the garden after a minute of walking.
They rested their backs on the ground with crouched legs as they looked up at the night sky.
“Why aren’t there any chairs here?” Erik asked.
“There are,if you walk further into the garden”Kiara answered “But it feels kind of better staying this way than sitting on a chair”She said
Erik chuckled.
“So,we were just going to stay this way if we had come here to celebrate your birthday?”She asked.
“Yeah”He nodded.
“Seriously?”She laughed.”Then it was a good thing we planned a party”
“What? It’s boring staying here with me alone?”He asked.
“I didn’t mean it that way”She said.
“I wasn’t trying to make you feel guilty or anything. I know it’s boring but just stay here with me for a while”He said.
She smiled and glanced at him “it’s not boring” She said.
He smiled. “I’m still yet to thank you for the birthday party” He said “Thank you,it really means a lot”He said again.
“You’re welcome”She smiled.
It’s been years since I’ve had a birthday party last or have people celebrate my birthday with me and I was already getting used to spending my birthday alone” He said “Thanks for changing that”
She smiled in response.
There was a brief silence between them.
“I’m sorry for having all those negative thoughts about you” Kiara suddenly said “I had no idea what you’ve been through and…”
“You don’t have to bring it up or apologize”He said “But if you were going to say the thoughts you have of me are now changed,then…”He faced her.
She nodded.
He smiled and looked up at the sky again “I’m glad you’ve erased the negative thoughts you have of me” He said
She smiled,turning to look at him. Her smile remained there as she gazed at his handsome face.
Erik turned to look at her and found her staring at him.
Kiara bit her lip and looked away feeling awkward that he caught her staring at him.
He chuckled, seeing how she looked away. He brought his hand to her face and made her turn to look at him again. Their eyes met.
He smiled, stroking her cheek with his thumb as his eyes held hers.
Kiara swallowed seeing how affectionately he was gazing at her. She had the same look in her eyes also. And the way he stroked her cheek…it sent shivers down her body.
“We’re…Just friends”She muttered.
“I know”He muttered also.
Their gaze lingered and Kiara’s heart thumped, knowing where this was leading to but not a part of her trying to stop it.
Erik slowly closed the distance between them,his eyelids lowered and his eyes fell on her lips. He looked at her again and their eyes held for a second before he finally took her lips in his.
Kiara slowly closed her eyes as he held her upper lips in between his sultry lips, giving it a gentle and fondly caress.
He brought his hand to her chin, tilting her head a bit as he savoured the sweet taste of her tender and soft lips.
Things shouldn’t be getting this far between them,it was only going to complicate things and she was still yet to find a way to deal with her many confused thoughts but she found herself succvmbing and responding to his kiss, giving in to this oddly satisfying moment.
His tongue slid into her parted lips, pushing back and forth in her mouth in a gentle manner and he continued that way for a while before building it into a more intense kiss. His tongue reached deeper into her mouth and a soft Mõ@n escaped her lips. As low as the sound was,it sent a wave of excitement through him and he wrapped his arm around her, bringing her closer to himself.
Her hands did nothing but rest against his body while her mouth welcomed his tongue with every movement it made.
His breath tingled her skin and feelings she never knew she had coursed through her,adding to the bliss of the present moment.
Their lips parted and they held each other’s gazes.
Ken and Kiara stood up to greet Erik as they saw him come into the office.
Erik’s eyes met with Kiara’s as he responded to their greeting but she quickly looked away, hiding her flushed face which was as a result of last night’s kiss which replayed in her head as her eyes met with his.
Erik smiled when he noticed and walked into his office afterwards while Kiara followed behind.
She cleared her throat and raised the tablet to begin reading his schedule out for him.
“You don’t have to read it out”He said and stood “I’ll read it myself”He smiled and took the tablet from her.
She blinked.
Thomas walked in with a smile and went to where Natasha was seated. She looked up to face him and he held her chin, planting a kiss on her lips.
“I’ve missed you”He grinned.
“You never listen,do you?”She rolled her eyes.
“Don’t blame me for always wanting to have a taste of you. Business related or not”He smirked.
“Just sit and let’s talk”She said.
“So, what’s with the urgent business related meeting?”He asked as he sat on a couch.
“It’s about Kiara”She said.
