°°A WEEK LATER°°
Daphne and Kiara sat together on her bed, laughing occasionally as they watched a movie on her laptop.
Few minutes later,the door opened and Erik came in. They both looked up to face him.
“Hi”He said to Daphne “Hey” He smiled at Kiara.
Kiara smiled back at him.
Since the past week that Daphne has been in the hospital, Kiara’s been staying with her, spending time with her and Erik also made sure to leave his office early so he could come to check on Kiara and spend time with her.
She was smiling again. He and Daphne helped in achieving that.
“You…Seem busy”He said to Kiara, glancing at the laptop on the bed.
“No, she’s not”Daphne shook her head.
“Great,I wanted to ask if we could go out together”He said
“Uh…”Kiara turned to glance at Daphne.
“You two can go out together. Don’t worry about me, I’ll be fine by myself. Besides,you haven’t gone out all week, you’ve been staying in here with me” Daphne said.
“So?”Erik asked Kiara, anticipating her response.
“Yes”She smiled.
She stood and picked her bag before leaving with Erik.
Not long after they left,Lex came in.
Just like Erik comes to check on Kiara,he also comes to check on Daphne and also keep her company.
“You’re watching a movie?” He noticed her laptop’s screen.
“Yeah”She nodded.
“Cool, let’s watch it together”He smiled.
“I’m fine watching it alone”
“I got you some snacks” He smiled, showing her the plastic bag in his hand.
“You think I’ll let you join me in watching the movie because you got me snacks?” She laughed.
“No. But, come on, it’s boring watching movies alone”
“It’s not boring for me” She shook her head”But since you’re desperate, I’ll let you join me”She said.
He smiled before sitting on the chair beside her bed.
“I’ll also take that”She collected the bag from him and faced the laptop with a smile on her face.
Lex chuckled as he stared at her.

“It’s been a while since I’ve been here”Kiara said as she sat. Erik placed their corn dogs on the table before sitting.
“I know”Erik said, folding his arms.
Kiara smiled at him as she picked a corn dog, taking a bite out of it.
Erik smiled as he watched her.
“I’ve missed this place”Kiara smiled as she looked around “And the foods”
“Foods? Corn dog is the only food you eat whenever you come here”He said.
She frowned”It’s not my fault you’ve never seen me try out other foods”
He chuckled. “Well, I’ll look forward to seeing you try out other foods the next time we come here”
“Sure, you’ll see me try out other foods”She said and continued eating while Erik watched her.
“So,”He said a minute later and she looked at him “I miss having you at the office” He said.
Kiara stared at him and cleared her throat. “Uh… About that. I… Don’t think I’ll be coming back to the office to continue working as your assistant”
“I wasn’t expecting you to continue”He chuckled “I just miss having you at the office”
She smiled.
Erik bit his lower lip, wondering if to say what was on his mind or not.
“What?”Kiara muttered, seeing the way he stared at her.
“Uh…”He cleared his throat “I…Was just thinking,” He said “About us”He completed “And,I know I said that I was going to wait for your response but it just kind of bothers me that you’re not saying anything about it” He said in a calm voice.
“I…”She cleared her throat “Can we…Not talk about it?”
Erik stared at her. “Uh…Sure”He managed to smile but deep down he was disappointed and a bit hurt that she didn’t want to talk about the topic. Does she not feel the same way about him?
A smile appeared on Kiara’s face as she walked in. It’s only been a week since she’s been here but she’s missed it and she was going to miss it even more since she would no longer be working as Erik’s assistant.
She got into the elevator and took a stop at the laboratory, saying hi to Lex and Emily before heading to Erik’s office.
“Hey”Ken smiled, standing up when he saw her.
“Hi”She smiled at him.
“So, you’re finally back?” He asked.
“I’m… Resigning actually”She said.
He made a sad face before hugging her.
She chuckled.
“I’ll miss having you here” He said and released her from his hug “But,I do wish you all the best”He smiled.
“Thanks”She smiled. “I…Uh, have to see Mr Erik” She said.
“He’s in his office” He nodded.
Erik’s face was buried in his laptop when she walked in but he looked up immediately he noticed her. She smiled and walked to him.
He stared at her, surprised to see her.
He smiled when she got to him.
“I had no idea you were coming” He said, standing up.
“Surprise”She grinned, slightly raising her hands but for a brief moment.
He laughed lightly at the gesture,also admiring how cute she looked. Her bright smile never ceased to give his heart a satisfying warmth.
She brought out an envelope from her bag and handed to him.
He raised a brow as he stared at it.
“My resignation letter”She said “I feel like it’s a more formal way to quit”
He chuckled. “You know you could have emailed it to me, right?”He asked “Or… Should I take it that you wanted to see my face?” He smiled,the kind that made him look alluring.
“Maybe” She answered with a knowing smile, looking up at him with her beautiful hazel eyes as he brought his face closer to hers.
“Why do I get the feeling that you want to talk about that topic you avoided last night”
“I got awkward for…Some reasons I can’t explain” She chuckled awkwardly
He smiled, staring into her eyes and she did she same also.
“I…Do feel the same way about you”She confessed, letting her eyes convey her affections
His smile grew. He felt intense happiness inside of him
“I love you,a lot”She smiled at him.
He brought his hand to her hair and brushed it back with the tip of his fingers while gazing at her tenderly.
“I love you too”He said before closing the distance between their lips, sliding his hands around her waist as he kissed her.
Their kiss was slow as they enjoyed the feel of each other’s lips, sucking and relishing. They let their emotions control the flow and pace of their kiss – Slow but sweet.
Kiara wrapped her arms around his neck as their kiss progressed while he tangled his hands behind her waist after dropping the envelope in his hand, pressing her body against his. He loved the taste of her lips,so sweet that he never wanted to let go.
Their kiss lasted for a while until she broke it,her wet lips curving into a cute smile as she looked at him.
“I love you”He said, caressing her ear. Her smile grew as she stared at him.
“You won’t read my resignation letter?”She pouted as she glanced at the envelope on his desk.
He chuckled and picked the envelope, opening it. He raised a brow as he brought out the content.
Kiara smiled at him.
“Movie tickets?”
She nodded “Will you go on a movie date with me?”She asked.
“I’d go anywhere with you”He smiled, pulling her into another kiss.
Kiara walked in after opening the door and Erik followed behind her.
Daphne would be getting discharged the next day and Kiara had to stay with her in her apartment, taking care of until she becomes fully healed so she came to pick a few of her clothes and other things. Erik offered to come with her and to be her chauffeur.
Erik smiled as he followed her into her room.
“Your room looks nice” He said “And cute too”He added, noticing the shades of pink in her room.
She chuckled as she walked to her closet. “I’ll be done in a few minutes”She brought out a bag and began to fold some of her clothes into it.
Erik walked to the small locker beside Kiara’s bed and picked the photo frame on it.
“Your dad?”He asked, showing it to her.
She nodded.
He smiled, staring at the photo.
“You know,that night,when you told me your dad was the one who made you know the meaning behind that painting at my place,I thought that perhaps I was going to meet him one day and then we’d talk about paintings”He said and went to drop the photo back on the locker.
“I’m sure he would have been really happy to talk about paintings with you if he were here. He usually got really excited talking about stuffs like that”She chuckled.
He smiled and moved closer to her. “Well, you’re his daughter so I can still talk to you about paintings, right?”
“Nah,I know nothing about paintings”She shook her head.
He chuckled and went behind her, hugging her.
“You should come for dinner at my place tomorrow. Nathan insists you come now that we’re dating plus, snowball misses you”
“That’s right. Snowball, I miss holding him”She smiled turning to face Erik who also had a smile on his face.
She gazed at him, taking a while to admire his facial features and handsome face.
“You’re… Really handsome”She slowly muttered.
He grinned and placed his hand on her cheek, gazing at her before bringing his eyes to her lips.
