CHAPTER 51: KILL OR BE KILLED*

NEXT DAY*

The Salvatore family kept searching for Hailey and Isabella. It’s been over 24 hours, but there’s been no call or message from Isabella.

Mirabella cried a lot, feeling pain and regret.

“Have some tea,” Vincenzo offered her a cup. She pushed it, making it fall and break.

Vincenzo hugged her, saying, “It’s okay, we’ll find our little champ,” and kissed her nose.

Bruno hurried in with his tablet, giving Vincenzo a signal, and they went out.

“I found something,” Bruno said, giving Vincenzo some relief.

“What is it?” Vincenzo asked.

“The car was found near a lonely house by a lake. She might be there,” Bruno explained, showing him CCTV footage.

“Let’s go,” Vincenzo said, and Bruno nodded.

“I’m coming with you,” Mirabella insisted, and Vincenzo held her tightly.

“No, you have to stay here, Bella,” Vincenzo replied.

“Isabella is my sister. I have to go. Please don’t stop me,” she pleaded.

Vincenzo turned to Bruno, who agreed with Mirabella.

He held her hand and walked downstairs.

“Get my car,” he told his guards, and they rushed out.

They quickly drove away in their cars.

Mirabella had a cold expression and rubbed her hands, feeling sweaty.

“I’m so afraid right now, it feels like my heart is gonna bleed,” Mirabella admitted, staring at Vincenzo.

“Momma, you have to calm down for me, okay!. Get a hold on yourself,I trust you. Now, please do that for me” He kissed her cheek and she inhaled and exhaled.

“I’m good”

Inside a dirty store room, is Hailey tied on a chair, her hair scattered roughly. She was bleeding from her lip, her eyes swallowed.

“You look creepy,” Hailey remarked and Isabella smiled.

“I was prettier than your mom, she knows that,” she replied, licking her penknife.

“My mom and you are nothing alike. There’s a big difference between a monster and an angel. You need to get back to school, maybe then you can spot the difference,” Hailey retorted, and Isabella laughed awkwardly.

“I h@të you so much, shut up!” Isabella said, grabbing her neck and attempting to choke her.

Hailey struggled to breathe, managing to press Isabella’s eyes with her hands.

“Ahh!” Isabella cried, rubbing her eyes as she staggered back.

“You almost killed me, witch!” Hailey coughed, giving her a murderous glare.

“That serves you right, shut up!” Isabella responded sharply.

“Or what, skinny witch?” Hailey raised her brows with a smirk.

“Skinny witch? How dare you!?” Isabella half-yelled and pulled Hailey backward.

“Ahhhh!… leave me alone!”

“Who’s the skinny witch now, huh?” Isabella asked, dragging her hair back.

“You motherFuçking Bîtch!” Hailey replied while crying.

“This is so interesting,” Isabella mumbled as she went to pick up her penknife.

Hailey blinked, trying to free herself from the seat. She cried loudly when Isabella cut her slightly.

“Is it painful?” Isabella asked with a smirk.

“I’ll be back for you, stay calm,” she tapped Hailey’s back and left.

Hailey moved backward, tears in her eyes, muttering, “Mummy, please hurry up. I know you’re coming.”

She found the penknife on the floor beside her and struggled to reach it.

“Yes!”

She began freeing herself before Isabella could return. When she was done, she discarded the robe and quietly left the house.

It was an old house, probably for farmers. The environment was unusually calm. She ran as fast as her little legs could carry her.

Isabella emerged a few minutes later, laughing.

“Oh, poor Hailey. There’s nowhere you’re running to,” she muttered, entering a tractor.

She started the engine and chased after her.

“Have you seen someone like this?” Mirabella inquired, displaying Isabella’s picture to the storekeeper.

“No, I haven’t,” he replied, and Mirabella couldn’t hide her frustration.

“She came to buy things from this store yesterday, and now you can’t remember her!?” she exclaimed, rolling her eyes. Vincenzo cleared his throat.

“Look, mate, all I’m saying is that I haven’t seen anyone. I ain’t seen anything,” the storekeeper insisted, only for Bruno to suddenly brandish a gun.

He scoffed and retrieved his own gun, aiming it at Bruno. Meanwhile, Mirabella had her gun pointed at the storekeeper’s forehead, and Vincenzo couldn’t help but laugh.

“Be wise, bro, just check your CCTV footage; I’m sure you have something for us,” Vincenzo suggested, grabbing a lollipop from the counter and licking it.

“That’s 20 bucks!”

“Okay, I don’t have money,” Vincenzo responded, snatching some chocolate cookies. “I really like these,” he added, taking a bite. “So d@mn delicious.”

The storekeeper retrieved his computer and played yesterday’s footage.

“Hmm… she came to buy tissues, canned food, and water. Clever girl,” Bruno said, his anger evident as he bit his lip.

“We have to get going; we don’t have time,” Mirabella insisted, hastily grabbing as many cookies and sweets as she could.

Vincenzo filled a bag with fruits, bread, and wine. “I don’t have cash with me, but… this should cover you for a lifetime,” he said, leaving his wristwatch on the counter.

The man’s eyes widened in disbelief, his hands trembling as he picked up the watch. “Oh my goodness!”

“I knew you’d be shocked, huh? It’s a real motherFuçking diamond!” Vincenzo declared as he walked out of the store.

They got into their car and sped away.

“I’m starving!” Vincenzo exclaimed, tearing open a loaf of bread.

“If anything happens to Hailey, I swear I’ll turn into the first human to make flour from another human’s flesh,” Mirabella hissed.

“Take it easy, girl. Take it easy,” Vincenzo said, offering her some chocolate cookies. “They’re good, right?”

“Yummy. But we need to focus. Stop eating,” she scolded, gathering up all the food and tossing it in the back seat.

~~~
Isabella’s voice echoed through the deep forest as she called out, “Come out, little girl. I promise I won’t harm you.”
Hailey, nervously aware of the forest’s residents, hid herself beside a rock.
“You know bears live in here. Don’t provoke me. I won’t hurt you.” She muttered, laughing evilly.
Desperation crept into Isabella’s voice, “Come to momma. Come here, you stubborn girl. I’m sorry for shouting, just come to me.”
As Isabella ventured further, she heard footsteps behind her. Swiftly turning, Hailey hurled a stone at her, but Isabella narrowly dodged it. In response, Isabella grabbed Hailey, delivering a sharp slap to her face. “You’re so stubborn,” she muttered, dragging the little girl by one foot.
Despite her dire situation, Hailey managed to grab a rock and struck Isabella on the head, causing her to scream in pain. Isabella dropped her to the ground, and Hailey seized the opportunity to escape.
Isabella chased after her, screaming wildly as if possessed.
In the distance, Bruno brought the car to a sudden halt, his voice trembling, “Did you hear that?”
Mirabella, panic in her eyes, responded, “Yeah, that was Isabella’s voice. That’s Isabella’s voice! Turn around, now!” She impatiently pounded her hand on the seat as Bruno reversed the car and sped in the opposite direction.
“Holy Sh|t!” Mirabella muttered, flinging the car door open even before Bruno came to a full stop.
She rushed towards Hailey, who was being chased by Isabella.
“Mummy!” Hailey cried out, running faster.
“Baby! Come here, baby,” Mirabella called out, also sprinting toward Hailey.
But Isabella reached them first.
With a grip on Hailey’s neck and a gun pointed at her head, Isabella threatened,”Make a move, and I will blow her away.”
“Don’t…” Mirabella mumbled, and Isabella smiled.
Mirabella’s tears flowed as she pleaded, “I’m sorry for what happened. I’m sorry, but things happened!”
Isabella wore a sinister smile, shaking her head twice as if relishing the moment. “Nah, I’m not angry anymore. I just want revenge, and that means ending your little mermaid daughter.”
“You’re a psychotic patient. Who let you out?” Mirabella asked, narrowing her eyebrows, her eyes examining Isabella’s attire.
“I let myself out,” Isabella paused and then smiled wickedly. “Actually, Kamar let me out, and I’m here to finish the job.”
Isabella leaned in and kissed Hailey’s hair, her eyes fixed on Mirabella, anticipating her reaction.
“Mummy!… Mummy, don’t let this witch kill me!” Hailey cried out, and Mirabella sniffed back her tears.
“She won’t. I won’t let her, okay?” Mirabella reassured her daughter.
Isabella raised an eyebrow, tracing her gun along Hailey’s cheek, taunting, “Aww, Mummy wants to play hero, huh?”
But Mirabella’s focus shifted, her eyes darting to the side, where Bruno hit Isabella with his gun.
“Run!… Come here, bunny!” Bruno called out.
Hailey darted into Mirabella’s arms as she scooped her up. “Oh, my sweet baby, oh,” Mirabella whispered, her eyes closed as she kissed Hailey.
“I’m so sorry,” Mirabella mumbled.
“It’s okay,” Hailey replied, moving to stand behind her mother.
“You look way more horrible,” Bruno commented as Isabella struggled to get up.
“I know, and she was the reason why my beauty left me,” Isabella said, touching her half-burnt face with a mixture of anger and sadness.
“I didn’t do anything. You’re the one who took everything from me! You should be mad at yourself. You deserve wh@tëver happens to you!” Mirabella shouted back, and Isabella scoffed.
“Lies! You h@tëd me, Father h@tëd me, nobody loved me. My husband didn’t, Diego didn’t, he even tried to kill me. Nobody loves me!” She shouted as tears rolled down her eyes.
“I was the bad daughter, the only one who’s ready to take all your crap and pain. I had no happiness, no achievements,” she muttered, pointing the gun at Mirabella.
“I won’t rest until you’re dead. I can’t. You deserve to die!” She yelled.
Vincenzo, who was in the background, eating his cookie, pulled out his gun and shot her in both legs. Blood splattered, and Mirabella shielded Hailey’s eyes to spare her from the horrific sight.
Isabella fell to the ground, and Bruno kicked the gun away from her.
Vincenzo shot her again, and blood dripped from her mouth.
“You don’t mess with the Salvatores,” Vincenzo muttered, approaching her.
He grabbed her hair, slapped her twice, and punched her repeatedly. Afterward, he picked up his gun, cleaned it, and turned to Mirabella. “Let Hailey go,” he said, and Mirabella shook her head.
“She’s still little. Please don’t do this,” she pleaded, but Vincenzo rolled his eyes.
He dragged Hailey away, turning her to face the half-dead Isabella. Leaning close to Isabella’s ear, he whispered, “Kill or be killed.”
He handed the gun to Hailey, and she shook her head.
“Come on, show me you’re a true Salvatore!” Vincenzo urged, helping her aim the gun at Isabella’s head.
“Kill her!”
“Vee!” Mirabella called, but Vincenzo ignored her.
“I said pull the trigger!”
“Dude, she’s just five!” Bruno yelled, but Vincenzo wouldn’t give anyone a chance.
He guided Hailey’s fingers and looked at the trembling girl. “Kill her, or I will punish you,” he whispered.
Hailey closed her eyes, tears rolled down her cheeks. After a few seconds, she opened her eyes and, with Vincenzo’s help, shot Isabella.
She shot her again, and a smile appeared on Vincenzo’s lips. “That’s my princess. I like it,” he said as he lifted Hailey.
“You know I don’t raise weaklings. You should know that by now,” he told Mirabella before heading to the car.
“That’s not a good enough reason for her to kill Isabella!” Mirabella yelled, and Vincenzo chuckled.
“She’s a strong Salvatore, are you okay!?” He asked, and Hailey nodded.
“Yes, Daddy,” she replied, and he smirked.
“Let’s go,” he said, as Mirabella rested her head on his chest.
“I’m so mad at you right now!” Mirabella said, and Vincenzo chuckled.
“Relax, honey. I’m raising my daughter to be a great leader in the future,” he replied, attempting to touch Mirabella’s cheek. She promptly slapped his hand away.
“By making a five-year-old girl kill someone!? Are you crazy!?”
“I think you know the answer!” He kissed her cheek, and she quickly wiped it off.
“Mummy, don’t be mad!” Hailey pleaded, and Mirabella shot Vincenzo a deadly look, as if she could kill him with her eyes.
“It’s okay, I promise not to do anything bad anymore.”
“Huh? Hailey, don’t make such promises, okay? I’m entrusting my business to you,” he said, earning a sharp slap to the head from Mirabella.
“Shut up!” She snapped, her eyes wide with anger.
“Yes, ma’am,” he replied with a goofy smile.
