Rose paid for a house alone, she bought some necessary things and decorated the house as she wanted. She brought out her phone, copied out some important numbers and removed her sim card then slot in the new one she bought
She also created a new Facebook account with her real name and then blocked the previous one, she also did the same to her WhatsApp and other social medias
She felt very light and free after doing that because she already decided to stay off from the crowd, she doesn’t need much friends and she just wants to start anew
A week later, she logged in and saw some friendship request, she went through their profiles before accepting them, one name kept drawing her attention “Simple Franchise”
She checked his profile picture and the face looked familiar, she went through the profile and everything patterning to the person is based abroad and then she concluded that he wasn’t Francis but someone that looks like him.
Three days later, she logged in and saw a message from Simple Franchise
“Hello Roseberry is been an ages now, I have searched for you all over Facebook but I couldn’t find you, I just thought of you and I said lemme search one more time for you and thank God I found you”
“How have you been all this years? is obvious that you have grown so big and beautiful, I have really missed you and am sorry I lost your contact but bear in mind that I never lost the thought of you in my heart”
“Please come online around 21:00 WAT, I will be free by then and we will have a long conversation, Still your good friend Francis Catch you”
Rose can’t believe her eyes, she rechecked the few pictures and exclaimed in delight, I knew it, I know this is Francis but I just needed a little more conviction. Wow Francis!
Rose was very excited, around 8:30pm, she logged in and saw Francis online, they started charting then Francis told her that she should send her digits so that he would video call her because he is not used to charting.
Then Rose sent her number and Francis called immediately.
They talked for a very long time, talking about different issues, Francis was practically happy that Rose is still single and currently doesn’t have a boyfriend
Francis asked after Gift and Rose told her that Gift is fine and will be getting married next month.
Francis was happy for her and wished her well with her rich husband. Then after what seems like ages, they ended the conversation.
From that day onward, it becomes a ritual for Francis to always call Rose every time. One month later, Francis asked her to be his date but Rose declined and turned his offer down after much pleading from Francis she still refused
Francis asked her why she refused to accept him, also after much persuasion from him Rose finally opened up and told him every thing that happened, she even snapped the pictures and send to Francis.
He was so touched that he began to shade tears, he promised Rose to avenge her, that he must scatter that wedding and make Gift to suffer her entire life but Rose pleaded with him not to try such thing that she has moved on and that God will vindicate her.
Francis agreed and they continues to chart and speak on phone…. They became so close that even Rose began to gradually fall in love with Francis
After three months, Francis told her that he is coming down to Nigeria to see her, like play like play Francis came down to Nigeria and travelled down to Umuahia to see Rose.
They met each other and Rose can’t believe her eyes even Francis was so happy that he carried Rose up and wiggled her round and round without minding the on lookers
Finally, Rose took him to her house and served him correct native soup with cat fish (point and kill) and goat meet together with piam piam throway (isam or periwinkle) with akpu (fufu)
Francis ate about four fufu and still demanded for more. He has really missed home dishes and Rose gave him what he needed and he proudly told her that she has won his heart wholly ( a way into a man’s heart is through his stomach)
Rose can’t stop laughing through out Francis stay, Rose told him how successful Gift’s wedding was and showed him the pictures they took at the wedding and how wonderful and grand the wedding was
Immediately Rose stopped speaking, Francis just held her hands and looked so intently at her.
Rose you are such a rare friend, after everything that that bïtch deed to you, you are still very happy and excited for her. I love you, I really do love you please marry me
I am sorry that I lied to you and pretended to be poor when we first met, I did that to find a woman that will love me for who I am
Please Rosy you are my perfect one, we are meant to be, I have always waited for you and prayed to God to keep you single till we meet again, I came back because of you because you’re my prayers answered. Don’t crush my hope please I beg you.
Rose gently removed Francis hands from hers and stood up, folds her hand and walked towards the window brushing away the tears that has circled in her eyes.
