Diane h@tëd the fact that De_ra moved him in a way that she can’t. Just a single phone call and he’d abandon her for De_ra. She bit her lower lips.
“It’s too late. Can you please not go? ” she scowled.
“I’m sorry but I need to. Don’t worry, I’m gonna be back before you know it.”
“It’s De_ ra again, right?” she asked bitterly. She h@tëd herself for being so petty right now but she couldn’t help it. Dee might claim to love her, yes, but, must he always listen to De_ra each time she speaks? That’s why she is always feeling inferior, because she knows nothing about business while De_ra does.
“I will be back very soon.”
“Take me with you.” she said as he stood up to leave. She held onto his shirt.
“You wanna go?”
“Yes. I wanna make sure you’re safe. ” she sat up. She pouted her lips with her eyes looking so babyish that he could hardly resist her.
“Fine. But I won’t be with you all the time.” he said while she stood up.
“Let me get dressed. ” she said and hurried upstairs.
“Just hurry up. It’s getting late. ”
*I wanna slow dance if you feeling me now….If we don’t hold hands, you’ll be killing me now…I need a romance…One chance…I just wanna know, will you slow dance?*
“Sir.” Veronica said as she submitted drafted files to him over the table at the meeting.
“Where’s everyone? There are very few of you guys here.” he said looking around the table. There were only five of his major staffs and two board members.
“But Mr. Damien, it’s very late right now. I didn’t know am gonna come here too. ” Veronica said eyeing De_ra who made them come here by this time.
“But there’s an important business strategy that I really want us to discuss and take a decision on. ”
“If it’s about Nigeria, I don’t think it’s a good idea.” One of his staffs said while he adjusted on his seat. “Why?”
“I don’t think he will win or I don’t think we should involve ourselves in Nigerian politics.”
“That’s not it Miss Gwen, all we are planning on doing is to enter Nigerian market.” De_ra said.
“How about the negative side?He might be the people’s choice but the massive corruption in that country won’t let him win. We can’t take a gamble on that. I’m the financial secretary and it might do a lot of harm to the company if we make a wrong move. I’m sorry but we might counter many losses.”
Dee sighed. His eyes searched for Diane. And she sat comfortably at the other end of the office listening in and not saying a word.
“What’s his high chances of winning, Miss Veronica?” he asked his secretary who quickly consulted her tablet.
“Uhm…I think there’s a massive election rigging. According to the news and uhm…The recent result might not make him the winner.”
“But he’s the people’s choice!” he said.
“It doesn’t work like that over there.”Vero replied.
He sighed. “But we need to enter the Nigerian market. I think it’s even gonna sound better pushing over the production of perfumes to that country.”
“We need to find another strategy and not diving into politics without proper steps. ” Vero replied.
“So…any ideas??” he asked peering at everyone’s faces.
“I think you guys should invest in that man. Business is about profit or loss. You can’t have it good all time.” Diane chipped in.
De_ra batted her eyes at her. She’ve been wondering why she came with Dee to this place and she piss her off by chipping into what she’s not supposed to talk about.
Diane is likely on her side but the fact that this sentence came from her annoyed her so much.
She gritted her teeth. “Miss Veronica is right actually. I didn’t think it through before concluding so rashly.” she growled.
“It’s actually a great idea. I never knew that you’re so smart Miss De_ra. It’s gonna be a big shot if you invest in him. If he wins, think about it Mr. Damien, this company is going higher and more famous too.”Diane pressed further glaring daggers at De_ra.
De_ra churned with hatred. ” What if he doesn’t win? Then our company will encounter lots of losses. You really don’t know how a company works because you don’t have one.” Diane replied harshly.
Diane smirked. De_ra is mean! “Think positive. He’s the people’s choice. I know there’s massive rigging on the other side but we can take a gamble on that. Imagine waking up to see this company making headlines tomorrow that DD’s company supports the aspiring Nigerian president. That alone, can make this company to be sort for. I don’t think this company is losing much. At least, this company gonna be recognized and applauded for doing something good. It’s good for business.”
De_ra bit her lower lips. She looked at Dee and saw him smiling sheepishly at Diane. Anger burned in her throat. “This company doesn’t work that way. You…”
“It’s okay Miss De_ra, we’re investing.” Dee interrupted her. She felt like getting hold of Diane’s throat and snapping it in twos.
“But sir, ” Vero began eyeing Diane. “It’s a big risk. We can get summoned at the white house. ”
“Let’s do it first and worry about all that later.” Dee said. He turned to Miss Gwen. “Have all the docvment signed. Phone Nigeria, you know you do it. Guess the meeting is over today.”
He stood up, a call pulled into his phone and he left them and went out.
*
“Hey Diane.” De_ra beckoned as Diane stood up to follow him.
“Hey De_ra.” She replied and stood as they exchanged harsh glances towards each other. They waited for everyone to leave before De_ra began.
“You might really think that Dee likes you.”
Diane smirked and crossed her arms. “He doesn’t like me, he loves me.”
She scoffed. “And you think that’s what you should be happy about. You might be feeling mighty since your opinion mattered in this meeting tonight.”
“What’s your problem De_ra?”
“My problem? Can you stop clinging and running around Dee, confusing him when you have nothing to offer him.”
“I have a lot to offer him!”
She chuckled. “What and what exactly?” Diane was mute. “See, you’re just a parasite Diane!!”
